His acting can get stiff in serious roles, he needs some humor like in Yumi's Cells or better yet action, even…
First time I have seen him was in Itaewon Class, and I thought he was a good villian(not spoiler. You know it from first episode), but also acted the weak moments really well there. Here I just find him Ok. But, to be fair to him, the lack of chemistry is not his fault. That is on the person who cast these two as romantic couple.
I can’t help but think that if this show had another actress play the FL maybe there would be more spark to…
For the record. Both SHS & Kim Tae-Ri (yes, she was fantastic in 2521) are in my top 5 Koren actresses. I think they are both amazing. Now, to your comment. In my opinion 99% of the time, chemistry is something you can't define. It is not about acting, or writing. It is not even about how beautiful/handsome actors are. It is just that for some reason two people look very good together on screen (roantically or otherwise). So, for that reason, I think the lack of chemistry is the casting director, or the director's fault. Basically, whoever decided that these two should be the romantic lead. Screen tests should have told that person that these two have no, or very little chemistry. So, I don't know whether Kim tae-Ri would have saved the day. The other problem is the writing& directing. I haven't read the webtoon, so I can't comment, but the series is poorly paced. It is slow burn for long time, and then suddenly turn up the heat to max. And the writing is certainly not great. I don't know whether the writer was forced to do all these plotlines or s/he did it on her/his own.
The final point is a matter of taste, but I find almost all the good scenes have SHS in them as long as she is not with the ML. She has chemistry with her "niece" and sister, but sadly not with Seo-ha. Personally, I find the actor just Ok. But that is just me.
It makes no sense, but this is done to help viewers.Previous lives, apart from 17th and 18th are not that significant…
While I am not in love with the series (I still find it watchable though), I am not that bothered by this. I think this is done under the banner of "Spoon feeding". This is something tons of dramas and movies from all the world are guilty of.
But, I also suspect they are using the main characters faces to heighten the emotions and the impact. Whether that is the right artistic choice or not is open to debate and individual.
There are quite a few things that I don't think are done well with this show (though don't let that affect you…
It makes no sense, but this is done to help viewers. Previous lives, apart from 17th and 18th are not that significant to the story (I haven't read the webtoon) other than showing all kind of stuff that our MC went through. 17th &18th is very easy to follow. But 1st life looks like lots of our current characters are involved. So, to make it clear to viewers they have the same faces as in 19th life. At least that is how I see it.
I read some posts below that just boggles the mind. If you end up over analysing eerything about ages and logic,…
" Your endless gripes diminish the great work of the cast to crew. I only hope they dont read them." I just would like to comment on this part, and this is a general point not related to this drama in particular. As long as there is no personal attack, I don't see why viewrse should not criticise the drama? This forum is to exchange opinions. Also, I completely disagree that criticism diminsh the work. Personally, I don't take reviewers who give lots and lots of shows 10 seriously. Praise is much more valuable when it is mixed with criticism. If everything is great and wonderfull why we even have reviews? Sometimes writers spend 10 or 15 years writing a book. But, unfortunately, that still doesn't mean it is a good one. The amount of efforts someone put into something is not a guarntee of its quality. I know this sounds very heartless, but you know it is true. As I said, as long as you don't attack them personally, people should be allowed to criticise art.
What is with Hye Sun's acting here? She's usually great but her tone and inflection when speaking with the ML…
Eventhough I think the series is merely decent, and has too many weaknesses ( almost zero chemistry between the leads, pacing is off and crowded stroylines) SHS acting is still great. Your observation is accurate, but to me looks realistic because she was older than him in her previous life and took care of him.
I think you are little bit harsh, but I agree with your overall sentiment.I think this could have worked better…
I think it would have been even better if he didn't become that good, because frankly it is very unrealistic. I think the message would have been even more powerful. Pursue what you love even if you are not particularly great in it.
Aaah My Mister, I keep contemplating to watch that. Is it that good GOOD? I heard that the writer is the one who…
I am almost 50 years old, and I have been watching Tv series for decades from around the world. Even with recency bias (I got fully into Kdrama only about 1-2 years ago), I can say that "My Mister" is one of the best series I have ever seen. Also, it is even better on the second viewing.
i also Binged it in 2 days... respecting your openion on not making it into American shows... but don't you wanna…
I genuinely don't :) I actually found his line of the story the least interesting, and was generally uninterested. I believe the show could have even better without, and maybe lose 1 or two episodes. But, even if you are fully invested in his backstory. Honestly, how many episodes do you need? Personally, I don't think you need more than one. You can stretch to 2. And if you throw some more stuff maybe 3. You certainly don't need a whole season. At least that is my opinion.
Others might have said this already, but the board has way too many message. This drama is poorly paced, and have no direction. Why on earth cramming so much?? If you know you have 12 episodes and you want to tell intricate story, the pacing should have been completely different. I haven't read the webtoon, but I wish they have just stuck with the love story (despite the zero chemistry between the leads) and exploring grief and the right and wrongs of reconnecting with people from your previous life (her sister and mother) This whole mystery line is SOOOO distracting and needless. Also, we suddenly have so many characters remembering their past lives. It is such a massive devaluation of the first few episodes.
With all due respect. Why do you need another season? The story has nicely wrapped up for all characters. Do you need an entire season just to see them getting rid of that serial killer?. I would say you don't need more than half, maybe one episode to do that.
I think the writer mixed up between the inventor of alcohol (Chinese) and coffee (Arabs).
I don't think you can say anybody "invented" alcohol. Alcohol is one of those things that humans just figured out WAY back (probably tens of thousands years ago), but they gradually improved techniques and variety. Same goes for Coffe. Nobody invented it.
this cliffhanger is too good.... sister's relationship definetely more interesting than the romance for me
Agree, and BY FAR. Tbh..those are the scenes I am waiting for. I have now just accepted that ML &FL have no chemistry, and moved on. On the whole, the show is flat line with very high spikes from time to time. It is still decent nd watchable, but nothing more.
Finished few hours ago. Great series ( not an all time favourite though). Very addictive. I binged it in 3 days. The thing that will stay with me most is the acting. I was happy with how things wrapped up. Personally thought P1 was little bit better. I sincerly hope they don't do another season. Probably one of the main reasons why people are moving away from American TV shows to Korean is that they actually END! I don't understand this obsession with wanting more and more seasons. Do you want K-drama to be like American one?? You start a show and you have no idea whether it will finish after 1 year or 10. Why don't we just appreciate that a show was great but the story ended.
Squid game is so overrated. Alice in the Borderland much much better for me. In my opinion there shouldn't be…
I agree there shouldn't be a second season. But, personally I think their similarties are superficial. I think they are both great series, but for me Squid Game is better even though AIB is more exciting. SG for me is above all criticism of society and Capitalism in particular. The best two episodes IMO are 2 (for the matic message) and 6 (sheer brilliance. One of the best TV episodes). However, neither has lots of violence or action. The games in SG are "the icing on the cake"., but not the cake itself.
AIB on the other hand is much more exciting and actioney. The games themselves are the highlight and fun.
So, I would say they are almost different genres, or at least at different ends of the spectrum.
I am at ep 3 and didn't know this actress before.... but the drama is really hard to watch. The story is a bit…
Hard to tell. People look at things differently. I am in the middle. I find it decent with some high points, but not great. There is enough to keep me watching. I am fan of the main actress though. Btw, you should check her series "Mr. Queen". She is AMAZING in that role. It is not spoiler, she plays a man in a womens body. The best acting I have seen in similar roles in any language.
Here I just find him Ok.
But, to be fair to him, the lack of chemistry is not his fault. That is on the person who cast these two as romantic couple.
But, not sure how giving 10/10 to 35 shows out of 61 completed is picky?
