I dropped this a while ago, because the fl's unreasonable character got on my nerves too much to continue. Imagine watching a romance drama and hoping that the ml dumps the fl and finds someone better. There's nothing to watch so I picked it up again and I'm so over her. Honestly, you say I'm me, every 5 minutes and arrogantly expect people to accept you for who you are, but you can't do the same? You know the ml's story-or at least most of it, but expect him to drop his revenge for your golden vjay. And when he doesn't, as he rightly shouldn't, he's a bad man, because it's shaoshang universe right? He saved your life by jumping off a cliff, but that translates to abandonment in our fl's dictionary. And none of the adults around her could speak some sense to her, not that it'll do any good, she knows it all, you see. The ml must also have some issues to keep putting up with her b.s. If he had a nick of sense, he would've wished her well on her way out of his life. What kept me watching is the Empress. I absolutely adore her and I enjoyed watching her relationship with the fl. It's a pity she married a man who is in-love with someone else. The Emperor has got to be my favorite character in cdramverse. I love his relationship with the ml. The ml's 2 bickering guards are also adorable. Fl's dad is a sweetheart. Qinqin is also a doll. Her dad and his fierce mom who gave him a walloping, are also so cute. There are also many sweet moments between the ml and fl, when she's not being unreasonable, like when she sew chicken feathers on his armor; now that was pretty sweet. The fl's dramatic granny is the icing on the cake for me. In summary, I love the cast. I just don't think the fl should be in a romantic relationship with anybody, but herself. If you're looking for a powerhouse fl, in the true sense of it, watch The Red sleeve. It's a period kdrama, with the strongest fl who's not obnoxious at all and very relatable and loveable.

I've noticed this trend generally in C, J and Kdramas. To portray that the fl as strong etc, they make her rude, arrogant, insufferable and un-relatable. And of course, the ml is just a simp accesory. Hopefully one day they realise that the audience doesn't enjoy the emasculation of men, any more than we enjoy the maltreatment of women and write a story accordingly.
