On ep 22 right now and I'm completely confused as to why Yifan is vice captain or any role that requires decision making. He needs to grow as a regular member, gain confidence as a rookie. Putting him in leadership makes no sense at all. Additionally, I'm confused as to why they kept Wenyi. He has a nasty personality and is insulting to Yifan and the rest of the team. That was gross but he didn't even show skills that backed up his arrogance. Ye Qui goes ahead and hires him? Guo's annoying personality almost made me stop watching but I got over it and she's gotten less intrusive. But now the decisions being made with these other characters is shaking my resolve. I need the show to straighten up cause I'm only halfway through and this is becoming a drag to watch.
ffs guo is so fucking annoying, the drama would be so much better without her
Omg!! I was coming on here to make this very comment! What is the point of this character?! She acts like a twelve year old little sister with her nagging and whining. But I could tolerate that if she had an actual purpose to the story! And they give her so much screen time when she should really be a barely there back burner character with occasional lines of dialogue. She throws me off so much and makes me so annoyed, I've started to fast forward through her scenes.
I'm only on episode 11 and enjoying watching FL professional growth. But what is disturbing is that the ML is actually abusive. He's not just as AH. How he speaks to her, the horrid things he says, isn't just a curmudgeon. He's verbally and emotionally abusive. The writers have written him past the line of acceptable dramatic meanness. He is a walking red flag. I can't see how this character could be redeemed. All I imagine is them getting together and building a future where he continues to treat her like the abuser that he is. I'll be shocked if I'm rooting for them by the end of this series. If I even make it to the end. Cdramas have a tendency to fall apart the last 5 or so episodes and becoming unbearable to get through.
This was excruciating to watch, for me. It's a classic soap opera style drama. I enjoy soap operas but realize that I should never binge watch them. This show had fantastic acting - overwrought but so much depth underneath. Incredibly insane characters. Lovely soundtrack. Etc. etc. It was excruciating, however, because it felt like a solidly good show encased in sheer ridiculousness across half the episodes. I don't have the mental energy to detail it. Plot lines that were too much, characters doing things that made no sense. My frustration level never went below a 5! I will never revisit this again but I am now interested in the further works of some of the cast.
I'm on the second to last episode. And I realize that this suffers from what I'm noticing is a pattern in many…
This conversation was interesting but I just realized I didn't write this review for this show. I've never seen this show. I wrote this review for We Go Fast on Trust. The review is posted there. I have no idea how it got posted here as well. Weird.
There is a whole genocide going on out there and people are in this comment section with their fake activism,…
There are a whole lot of awful things happening around the world and yet you are HERE commenting on people's comments that are upsetting to you. Please don't throw stones when you are doing exactly what the people you're complaining about are doing. Perhaps it would be better to do what you're telling everyone else to do and "move on" if reading these comments is making you as upset as your post sounds.
Sigh. I was starting to get excited until I saw the age of the MLs. The kid isn't even 17 yet. Which means he may have been 15 when he was first cast for the role. I thought the days of casting that young in potentially highly sexual shows was over. Perhaps this one won't have high sex content, but I'm still super uncomfortable with the idea of watching a romance between a teenager and a man nearly 30 😒😒. And that they're acting a part means nothing to me. This is quite disappointing.
This was released ten years ago. FL was 13 years old. She wasn't even in high school when they created this. ML was over 20. We'll pass high school. All the people talking about this is fiction, miss me with that. In REALITY, she was barely a teenager and the ML was a grown ass man.
This is problematic and clearly shows some shady mess had been going on behind the scenes because that should never have been acceptable let alone allowed. It's actually stuff like this that proves that child actors are too often not treated as children. And we've all heard this issues that has caused for many of them.
A lot of us like it when a story doesn't focus on physicals. Romance and lust are different things. Some of us…
I get your point but please read the whole review. TV and film is a show don't tell medium. If you're not going to show love through the physical extra attention must be given to the character's chemistry, their dynamic in scenes together, the intimacy of their dialogue, and the depth of their performance. Imo, this couple is missing many elements which was not helped by the lack of physical intimacy. That being said, I do think it is better when intimacy is shown in a television drama. It's visual expression of love. It's not just about lust. Having more touching and realistic kissing is not lustful and base. It's realism. I am coming from a western perspective and our TV/film medium is a lot more sexual. Even with that though, I still think more realistic displays of adult romance is better. Imo.
This was so unexpectedly Good! From the first episode to the last. They handled what is a very awkward troup - non-blood siblings becoming lovers- in a very deep, respectful, and real way. The chemistry between the two MLs was so strong it made every facet of their evolving relationship so good. I'm addition, I really loved the whole theme of family and how beautiful this little family was. I want to go back and watch from the beginning. It was such a pleasure to watch.
I'm on the second to last episode. And I realize that this suffers from what I'm noticing is a pattern in many of the cdramas I've been watching. Decent lovely stories with the illusion of romance and couples that are nearly sexless. A platonic hug is supposed to represent a deep bond. And it's a near miracle if you get two peckish kisses in 24-30 episodes. And this is among grown adults, not high school dramas. The couple in this show is ill matched, imo. The ML is dynamic and interesting. The actor is given a lot to work with. The FL is flat and dry. I don't feel like the actress was given enough to work with. The romance just got duller and duller as the show went on. I have no hope of it lifting out of mediocrity by the last episode. It's really interesting enjoying much of a romantic drama except the romance.
I had to drop this one. The FL was irritating my nerves and I couldn't control it enough to enjoy the show. I also wasn't in the mood for the love triangle. My irritation could also be coming from watching two cdramas back to back that started well and ended rocky. It left me with little patience and I couldn't deal.
I'm currently on EP. 6 and I must say, Kou is not likeable. He's go sh*t to deal with from the grief, but that doesn't give him the right to treat Futaba as dismissively and ambivalent as he has been this whole series so far. She deserves better and she could do better. I know this is their love story but I really wish she would move on from Kou and find someone who would treat her as well or better than she treats Kou. I'm always sad when I watch a romance with a couple I don't want to be together.
I don't know if you ultimately decided to watch it or not but I thought it was amazing. One of the best dramas I watched last year. I loved the story, acting, chemistry between the actors, pacing, etc. It was a beautiful watch experience for me. But everybody has their own tastes so you never know if it'll be watchable for you or not based on what others say.

I understand most of the points you are trying to make but I just don't agree with them. I think your perspective puts too much weight on the people in this one industry and it assumes these folks aren't doing ANYTHING to support a cause because they are choosing to work in one of the biggest entertainment markets in the world. Your argument is unrealistic and that's not me coming from a place of cynicism. China is one of the largest, of not the largest, market in the world. I think you are wrong to condemn all the people working in this market as not giving a shit about anyone but themselves. You don't know these people and what they are doing in their personal lives. You just know they are working in a country that has a problematic government. That doesn't actually say anything about them. I don't feel the need to continue this exchange. I think we just don't agree on each other's perspectives and that's fine.

Your link proved the point that I was making. The GOVERNMENT of China has a terrible record of abuse towards many communities and groups within it's society. But you know what, so does the Russian government, the Australian government towards aboriginal communities, the US government towards Native Americans and asylum seekers, the Mexican government which has aided drug cartels, the Burmese government towards the Rhoinga communities, etc. There is no country with an innocent , unbiased government and no country without some form of human rights violations. Including China. Based on your argument, there should be no entertainers working in any country because they will represent/validate the evil actions of that country's government. That is why I responded to your statement the way that I did. Your argument is unfair, unrealistic, and judgmental.

I know this comment is 4 months old but I have to reply because I'm astonished at the judgmental ignorance. You're trying to say that every entertainer working in China is homophobic because the GOVERNMENT is homophobic and extremely strict and controlling over nearly every aspect of public life?? Does that make a lick of sense? China has a Huge entertainment market and to ignore it can be detrimental to your career. Besides that, it's a huge market with people looking to be entertained with good art and entertainers. Does the audience not deserve that because they happen to live in a country with, once again, a controlling GOVERNMENT? Get off your high horse Poster! Wow.
