I don't believe it's an exclusive reference to MJH's spirit and I also don't believe CP used tricks like the Wizard of Oz to impress the Emperor and consolidate MJH's fake death. I always tend to give due allowance to these details, because they seem to me to be of no major importance, they have a mere visual function, they do not form part of the narrative and they get lost in issues that are actually relevant to the plot.
