Another theory. Ryang Eum came back to joseon with NYJ after confirming that Gilchae was infact kidnapped. We then see GWM alone setting out for Qing to bring her back. But in the preview of Episode 13, RE is back in Qing and informs JH of gilchae's kidnapping. So maybe he decides to follow GWM who dies on the way and RE decides to continue his journey to inform JH so that she can be liberated.

This theory is actually super possible. Some people were able to crack gilchae and jongjong being the two girls running away from the hunters at the end of ep10 so who knows maybe this GWM thoery might actually come true. But I am pretty sure he will have some more role to play than just being her husband who is here to bring her back

What I think will happen is that GWM will reach simyang and find gilchae with janghyun. He will obviously assume the worst that she did run away with him or they found each other at simyang and she committed adultery. He will still take her back. JH will obviously let her go saying that he just wishes for her to live like a flower (like he did in the teaser). Back at hanyang, GWM will try to choke gilchae one night and that will ultimately lead to an end of their marriage.
