Hmm maybe. I am personally not enjoying it but its not bothersome to the point that I can't watch the drama which is otherwise quite good. I just think they could have done a lot more with the FL
Honestly the husband wife plot seems useless. Apart from the funeral scene they have barely had interactions and almost no chemistry. They could have shown to be in a dating/close friends/infatuation kinda situation. They are wasting the FL at this point and her closeness to the SML to apparently help her husband isn't convincing because thats not helping anyone except for making him look suspicious and allowing the FL to reminisce about her past with SML. They could have done sooo much more with the FL by not making her ML's wife and being actively involved in the undercover investigation. Then maybe she could have gotten feelings for SML again ( if they wanted to show romance at all). At this point she looks more like a prop to dangle between the male leads. A total waste.
Apart from the above I have no complaint from the drama. It bomb. The action, music, cinematography and the pacing are all perfect. JCW and BIBI are totally killing it and looking fire together

The only theory I can think of that gives them a happy ending is that towards the end the war him and gilchae will runaway/disappear because he will be hunted eventually. This stems from the fact that in the very first scene of Ep1 (1959 maybe?) whereabouts of Jang hyun are not known through the books and the palace official is looking for him.
It's just a wishful theory🙈 Otherwise everything indicates at a sad ending only.
