This show is just insane — every time I watch an episode, I can’t stop laughing. The main lead is the reason for the whole vibe. His characters, the way he talks, and his tone are all unreal, especially when he plays silly or dumb characters.

I understand the Sufi reference, but it doesn’t change the issue. The drama didn’t rely on symbolic poetry — it took a story that comes directly from the Qur’an and rewrote it. A poet’s unconventional interpretation doesn’t make it the correct one, and it doesn’t justify changing the original meaning of a real religious figure. That’s why the problem is tied to Islam itself, not to Sufi symbolism.

Season 2 ended with a tease that seemed like the beginning of a new major case.

Season 3, however, didn’t continue it, and many viewers also felt that the transition was disconnected.

They treated the Season 2 ending more like an epilogue or bonus scene than a real cliffhanger, so Season 3 basically started fresh. That’s why it feels confusing — the show intentionally didn’t pick up that thread.

Correct me if I'm wrong !!

Title The Manipulated Spoiler
yh yohan was always 2 steps ahead of ml ml won bcz of his crazy ass fighting skills and healing abilities
His “healing ability” was another issue for me too. He got injured so many times — bullets, knives, and even swords — and somehow he’s totally fine in the next scene. It’s the usual K-drama thing: the ML gets seriously hurt, but then he walks around like nothing happened.

Title The Manipulated Spoiler
The drama was amazing from start to finish, but the last episode really felt messy. It was already unrealistic that the male lead suddenly became super good at fighting, but the biggest problem was when he suddenly appeared driving one of the auction trucks going to Yohan’s house — wearing the exact same uniform as the staff. Like… really? Out of nowhere? Where did he get the truck, the logo, and the outfit that looks exactly like theirs? A more logical option would’ve been if he stopped one of the real trucks on the road and took the driver’s clothes.

Another thing: the Chinese assassin who killed people without any mercy the whole drama — how did the ML suddenly manage to fight her and Yohan at the same time? Both of them were shown as strong killers who can take down anyone easily. It didn’t make sense that the ML beat them so quickly on his own.

There were many scenes that felt rushed or not fully explained, just to finish the story with a happy ending. For example, the prison guard who was accused of taking bribes — they didn’t explain how he cleared his name. He just appeared in the last scene like nothing happened. A lot of questions were left unanswered, and the ending felt like they wrapped things up too fast without thinking.

There’s a big difference between this drama and "Black Out". Both have a similar idea — a man who’s falsely accused and tries to find the truth — but Black Out handled everything in a more logical and consistent way.

Title As You Stood By Spoiler
I started this drama just to try the first episode… and ended up finishing it in two days, even watching it during work. It’s engaging from the very beginning and much deeper than people describe. I don’t see it as depressing, but rather realistic — it talks about something society prefers to ignore.

The acting was amazing, and Jin So Baek was my favorite character. He felt like a safe place for the two female leads while they were sinking deeper and deeper into their situation. His presence balanced the darkness of the story in a very meaningful way.

But what I appreciated the most is that the writer didn’t give us the “easy, unrealistic ending” where the two women just escape their crime and live happily like nothing happened. Instead, the consequences caught up with them. They couldn’t truly move on until they confessed and took responsibility.

And ironically, that was the real happy ending —
when they received their punishment and were finally able to live their lives peacefully, without fear.

Because in reality, there is no justification for a crime, even if the law failed the victim.
In the end, everyone got what they deserved.
I definitely recommend this drama.

The rating is insanely low for no reason. This was fun, silly, and very cute! Cliches and tropes abounded but…
yup..I totally agree with you. It's fun, silly & cute. Sometimes cute dramas like this is exactly what I need. After all, it's romcom drama not action or suspense ..this is what we need to watch in such dramas

It’s exactly because I understand the difference between pure fantasy and religious concepts that I commented in the first place.

The issue isn’t “genies in a lamp” — nobody thinks that part is real. The problem is when a drama uses real religious names and figures (like Iblis) and assigns them completely different roles, personalities, or meanings without any research.

If the show had kept everything fully fictional, I wouldn’t have said a word. But once it takes a sacred name from an actual religion and turns it into a romantic fantasy character, it stops being harmless fiction and becomes disrespectful.

And yes — the same standard applies to any religion. If a drama misrepresented a major figure from Christianity, Buddhism, or any other belief, people would absolutely speak up. Respect goes both ways.

Title Dear X
I’ve just started Dear X and I’m only on episode 2, but yesterday I ended up binge-watching four episodes of Manipulated in one sitting. Honestly, this season feels refreshing — we’re finally getting dramas that are new, entertaining, and far from boring.

What I love most is the shift in character types. The charming leads who are usually the “good guys” are now playing psychologically twisted characters in such an intriguing way. It’s a fun change from the typical righteous hero and the self-sacrificing heroine.

These two dramas have really revived my excitement for K-dramas. They’re still in the early episodes, but hopefully they keep up this energy all the way to the end.

I really appreciate that you took the time to look it up. It’s about basic respect and accuracy. When a show uses sacred concepts or real religious figures, it carries a responsibility to treat them properly.

I would’ve been totally fine if it was a purely fictional fantasy, but once it brought in names and references tied to Islam, it crossed a line. It wasn’t just creative freedom; it showed a real lack of understanding. I’m glad people are starting to talk about it more seriously now
On Genie, Make a Wish Nov 12, 2025
I honestly disliked almost everything about this drama. From start to finish, it was a mess — full of nonsense, wrong assumptions, and total ignorance of history, religion, and even language. The writer clearly didn’t do any real research before writing, and it shows in every scene.

If she had actually studied the topics she was mixing, she probably would’ve realized this story doesn’t work at all. Or at least, she could’ve made it pure fantasy from the beginning — with no religion or real-world elements — so people could accept it as just imagination. But no, she mixed everything in the worst way possible.

The result is a confusing, disrespectful, and unrealistic drama that tries to sound deep but ends up being just silly and offensive. Honestly, it’s one of those shows that make you wonder if anyone read the script before

I actually liked this drama. It’s dark — very dark. No romance, no comedy, no light moments. Just the harsh, ugly side of Joseon shown without sugarcoating.

Rowoon surprised me. This is his first time playing such a heavy role, and he nailed it. His eyes and expressions showed exhaustion, pain, and emotional collapse — not overacted, just raw.

It’s not a “fun” drama, but it’s bold and different.
If you want something realistic and unapologetically bleak, this is it.
