I was SO worried that XY's real self would be all serious and dignified and tragic and instead Cang Hai is basically Xing Yun v1 for real! The lovable craziness has always been there!!!
(I hoped for that but I was still worried they would pull Orchid on us!)

Just want to add something I am glad to see and that is, CK didn't hide the truth from XY when he realized that…
I cheered so hard when he told her!!! Finally a xianxia ML who shares information with his love and doesn't endanger her by keeping her in the dark!

Here's a really good interview (eng sub) with YCY done with this well known presenter 2 years ago. From this interview,…
I watched the whole video and it's really good, I think it really shows what YCY is like as a person. Very thoughtful and self-aware, I really like her.

Yay! I just got back from vacation and will catch up on Ep.22 soon but i'm so happy there are more people who…
I watched yesterday the two released episodes of the variety show and it was really fun! The actors seemed very nice and good friends.

How far did you get? I think she is really finding her stride in the drama, I think her subtle mimic of CK was…
DYX = Ding Yu Xi - main actor
CK = Cho Kong - his character's name

YCY = Yang Chao Yue - main actress
XY = Xiang Yun - her character's name

In the body swap episodes, Ding Yu Xi portrays the female lead's character (Xiang Yun) and Yang Chao Yue portrays the male lead's character (Chu Kong).

In the clip with Changheng, they were in their "demon" costumes (ML with white hair), which should happen in episodes 33–36, if the episode schedule they published is correct (they marked different lives on it). I am curious to see if they are going to really include this easter egg or if it was just for promo :).

I'm going to say my 2 cents, and then bounce.I think Chao yue is a pretty decent actress, but I can't understand…
I am definitely not trying to force you to finish this or anything, just want to say that I agree that the beginning was very cliché and basically just checked all the usual tropes (cold ML, "silly" FL), but as the plot unfolds, it seems that their characters have more layers than it seemed and the FL is becoming a very likeable and strong character. (basically, fast forward through eps 1-7, from ep 12 the pace and character development picks up a lot!). Also, from ep 22 their bodies are swapped and CY is actually doing very good job portraying the ML! So I think that for the second half of the show, we are in for a treat, we have some big drama ahead and I am certain that DYX and YCY will do a great job portraying it!

Why do DYX fans always trash the actress? I have goodwill for DYX but it is hard to keep it when I keep seeing…
Hi, may I just ask what you mean by saying that Esther Yu and ZLS are astute businesswomen? I don't watch many BTS clips or interviews because not many of them are with ENG subs, so I don't know what are they like as people....do you mean that they are very careful about the roles they pick? (sorry for cutting in, I am just curious)

while waiting for the upcoming episodes, I was hoping to watch some other dramas of DYX like Moonlight. is that…
Intense Love (2020) was very superficial, but if you want just the fluff and DYX looking handsome, you might like it.

Moonlight (2021) was much better - it actually had some depth - but it also has extremely slow start and the love story is a slowburn too. Also, the ML is kind of an ass to the FL at the beginning.
But the pay-off is there and once they get together, their relationship is healthy, supportive and amazing. 2nd leads are not in the OTP's way and they have their own compelling story.
The biggest hindrance is that the ML doesn't tell the FL they have been internet pals for years, but they talk it out and he grovels a lot, so it turns out good. No major misunderstandings aside from that (when a bitchy obsessive girl appears later, they don't even care because they trust each other).
It's a feel-good show, more of a slice-of-life than a rom-com, the characters deal with some problems but it's always dealt with fairly quickly, so you don't get too frustrated.

For all who don't know or new to YCY ... here are some clips about her. It's her sincerity, kindness, caring and…
Thank you, I watched the two clips with ENG subs and she is an adorable girl. She seems to be very hardworking and modest and considering her relatively poor background, it's interesting that people do not relate to her more and bash her so much. Maybe because she is an "easy victim"? A Cinderella who has no wealth, no extensive education or rich and famous backers, so they think they can criticize her with no repercussions? I hope she will stay strong, and as Love You Seven Times is getting better and better with each episode, I want to believe it will be a positive experience for her in the end.

Out of curiosity: Is this series supposed to have a happy ending? So far I like the pairing I see in clips and…
The novel has unambiguous happy ending and an extra chapter with FL being pregnant. I strongly believe that they will keep the happy ending in the drama too because it's fairly lighthearted and funny drama for a xianxia and it would be really weird if they pulled a tragic ending on us. But as the show's still running, I cannot guarantee it!

First 2 episodes were well done and cinematography is gorgeous but its kinda going downhill from ep 3 and 4. I…
Fast forward button is your best friend here! Get through the first 7 episodes or so (I remember that ep 7 was especially draggy), just watch the scenes where the leads are together and you're good, it's not like the plot of this life is super complicated. It gets better and the pacing is faster from ep 8 on and the quality goes up after this tribulation is finished.

Any sml like FL????
The cast list here is a bit confusing because it shows other roles on higher spots than SML, so to be clear: the SML is Xiu Ming. He is annoying, has some obsession with the FL and meddles in OTP's lives but idk: I've seen worse. The leads only have eyes for each other, so that's all that matters to me. And I am sincerely hoping that the SML will heroically sacrifice himself in the end or something :D.

I've just started watching the first episode of this new Chinese fantasy drama series, but it feels like I can…
Everyone tastes are different. I read the novel, enjoyed it and was curious about the adaptation. While they did make many changes, I do enjoy this drama a lot so far.

The beginning is not very strong, the FL and ML come off as very cliché types (silly FL, cold ML) and the first mortal trial dragged a lot and didn't have the best writing. I am afraid it made many viewers drop the show.
Around ep 10 it gets better and more dynamical, the next mortal trial is like 100% better than the previous one and the character development of the leads and their relationship is significant (and we are only at episode 22).

There are already many hints that the story and the leads' backstories are more complicated than it seemed at first sight.
Not only FL's identity (which is heavily hinted at from the first episode) but the bond between the two, source of their powers, the real evil mastermind and some interesting side characters (Zihui's tragic romance!) make this show's plot intriguing and worthwhile.

To new viewers, I would say: get through the animal trial and the first mortal one even if you fast-forward some scenes. It gets better later and so far (ep 22), the quality is rising.

China definitely does not work like Hollywood, the same as Korea. If some defend for others, it is even possible…
Thank you for your response! That's what I was afraid of....I am still hoping that since we are in the middle of the drama and (possibly) most of the emotional scenes are ahead of us, she may still win the public opinion over! Personally, I am enjoying her performance, I think the script was letting her down in the first episodes, but it's getting better and her expressions and deliveries are getting more nuanced.

I started sobbing and crying when CK said her "did you remember what I told you previously?"(and then the flashback…
So far they kept the deaths from the novel, they only toned down the cruelty of the animal death in life 1 (life 3 in novel). I wonder how the life 4 will play out, but the good thing is (both in book and drama) that they both have their memories so they know that their death is not final.

I have a question for those of you who understand Chinese entertainment world:

Given how (unjustly) bashed Yang Chao Yue is for her acting in China, would it help if other actors from this show, colleagues from her other shows or her friends in the industry supported her?

I am thinking about how Hollywood stars sometimes have each other's backs and help to defend each other on Twitter or other social networks. But I don't know if that's how it works in China....

I hate to say this, first mortal arc do not gripping me enough. It is a storyline I seen like 1000x times already.…
The first mortal arc ("childhood sweethearts") was indeed draggy but gets better towards its end and I am happy to report that from that point the show is really great. The next arc ("master and disciple") is much better and the one that started in ep 22 looks like it's gonna be both hilarious and interesting.

What is the relation between this drama and Love between fairy and devil? Are they from the same universe?
Same novel author and from what I've heard, same production company. There are some story/character parallels between this adaptation and LBFaD. However, nothing suggested so far that the shows are set in the same universe (the stories and the presented world histories just don't fit together). There was a clip before LYST was released that featured SML from LBFaD meeting the LYST leads, but it SEEMED to be more of an easter egg than confirmation that the character exists in LYST. Personally, I think it would be nice if it got confirmed that the worlds of LYST and LBFaD are like parallel universes :).
