For book readers (or those who don't mind book spoilers):

It's interesting how their likely going to replace Zihui's role in life 2 in the book with Xiu Ming in the same life.
Xiu Ming is likely to convince the FL that Chu Kong killed her parents and might persuade him into giving up his life force for her. Chu Kong made Zihui promise in the book that after his death Zihui will ensure that the FL will live well and happy.
That's all Xiu Ming wants here but he'll be mistaken if he thinks that the FL will spend this mortal life with him.
In the book, the ML sacrifices himself and the FL commits suicide immediately after him.
And in the book the ML is super angry when he meets the FL in the Netherworld right away, certain that the stone demon tricked him. But here, it's likely gonna be Xiu Ming....so this time there's likely gonna be a fight between them in the Heaven Realm once they go back....

As you can probably see from the comments, the first episodes were not so good and they dragged a lot! But during the finale of the mortal tribulation (episodes 10–12) the pace picked up and what follows is very good so far. Fingers crossed it will only get better!

I want to live to see the day with a xianxia where heavenly emperor is not sketchy or complete asshole..... I had hopes for this one but he grows more shady with every passing episode.

I think it's still way too early to tell. The first life (not counting the short animal one) is draggy and not super well written, but maybe the remaining lives will be great. Let's wait and see 😀

I am ok with the FL so far, she is decent. I think we need to hold up and wait and see how she'll be in the following lives, I don't want to judge her too early. The actress seems to be doing her best with the material she's given.

I think that the issue of the 2nd life (1st life in the book) is that they mostly kept the core plotpoints from the book, but instead of using the extra screentime to give more depth to the mains, they are wasting it on the side characters.
Sure, it's the beginning, I understand they need to set up the story and that their true motivations and backstories will be revealed as we go by (as in LBFaD), but still...

All the trailers and promos were VERY concentrated on the leads, so I hope the show will get on track and focus on them soon.

I sort of hate to admit this because I want to love this show but I am at ep 8 and I keep fast forwarding or pausing and procrastinating...judging from the other comments I am not the only one who thinks they are dragging this life out. And it's not like it's some super complicated political court intrigue either, the set-up is actually pretty straightforward....maybe if they at least concentrated on the leads, then the simple plot would be easily forgivable, but instead side characters seem to be stealing the spotlight....

I vaguely recall a scene from life 5 I think where they fight in a cave and the FL bravely risks her life to help the ML but she is vaporized? They might use that as well!

Yes! I also wonder how many episodes will each life take? I think they need to dedicate about 4–5 episodes to life no.1 and same to no.2 because they are essential to their character and relationship development. Like you, I can't wait to see how lives 5–7 will be handled, since they were essentially themselves at that point.... and I wonder if they will swap lives 3 and 4, since the later plot and big bad is related to what they saw in life 3 (maybe I remember wrong, it's been a while...), while no. 4 is a separate story like the first two are...

I am really curious if they will swap the lives around in the adaptation. Because from the trailer it seems that IF the scenes where the ML's hair is white and he's dressed in furs IS the animal life no.3, then it MIGHT be too early for them to be so close and flirting at that point as they are in the clips.

For me, I would change two things:
1) I wouldn't make the FL dimwitted in the life 2.
Young and naive sure, but not actually mentally handicapped (which she was in the book).

2) I would make the FL more of an active character in the later lives (with the exception of last one I think where she actually saves the ML's soul and literally trains his mortal amnesiac self....).

For novel readers: Is there something in the book that you would definitely change for the drama adaptation?

No, in the book they do not have children in any of their mortal lives.

Novel spoilers ahead, obviously: Yes, the novel has a happy ending. Parts are tragic, as the leads go through different mortal lives and always die in them. But honestly, the novel seemed to me mostly lighthearted and funny anyway, as the leads fight and bicker but are still bound to fall in love again and again :). I think that near the climax the ML's soul is shattered or something and the FL travels the world to collect pieces of his soul and restore him to his identity because he has his body but his powers, parts of his memory and his immortality are missing....they ultimately succeed and meet again in the world of immortals, the end <3. I am only telling you this because I think that they will very very likely change the details, so it wouldn't be too similar to LBFaD. I think they will definitely keep the HEA but the final lives will be changed.
