Did anyone else feel like the culprit was pretty easy to figure out right from the start? I think that's what made all the 'reveals' at the end quite underwhelming. Not to mention they had the murderer touching almost everything in the room with their bare hands in the playback scene, yet no one linked the murder to them? Yeah they cleaned the floor, but then they went and put their hands on everything else. And somehow no fingerprints from anything and no forensics team doing their job, especially on the key items at the scene? These kinds of blunders are what made the murder mystery aspect fall short for me.
Overall I think that both Sooyoung and Kim Jaeyeong carried this drama bc the story itself was quite weak. I kept watching because of them, they were great together. Although even the romance aspect seemed rushed as well. But it can't be helped since they only had 12 episodes to work with and the ML was trying to get over his trauma the majority of the time.
I think it's safe to say that this series has not 4, but only 2 1/4 couples since they've made Chain/Pun practically nonexistent (I understand part of it had to do with the circumstances, but let's be real, that's not all) and they don't give Tan/Fang the screentime they deserve. The latest ep had not even 2 seconds of them, I blinked and they were gone. Ironically, even with this major inequality, they chose to add unecessary filler scenes that could've instead been used to build their other main characters. If they weren't going to distribute a fair share of screentime despite having 16 episodes to work with, then they shouldn't have had 4 couples in the first place; it should've only been 2 with 12 episodes.
Also, I saw a novel spoiler regarding Peem's anxiety with Phum disappearing in this episode that explained why he was so triggered. Including it would've given more background and depth to his character instead of making him seem unreasonable or as if he were overreacting. I don't understand why they wouldn't include these very important details that the novel provided for them, but will throw in random slapstick comedy scenes instead. I might be speaking too soon as they may add it later, but it would've been helpful to know for this particular episode. Too many wasted opportunities.
Nevertheless, I am still enjoying the series, just not nearly as much as I'd hoped. I really hope Chain/Pun and Tan/Fang can get their chance to shine in the upcoming final episodes, they have been robbed despite having so much potential and the most interesting dynamic.
Since we audiences have God like view of the characters why do we analyze the leads relationship based on typical…
Like I said in my previous comment, there's nothing wrong with him admitting that he needs time since he really does and it's easy to understand why he would suddenly confess at this moment given everything that happened during the episode. But it's this kind of rash behavior he pulled that could possibly put the FL in more danger. This time they were overheard by someone harmless, but the next time that "someone" could be his father which wouldn't end well for the FL, being as he could make her disappear. ML knows this very well, but did it anyways. His course of action wasn't the best even though it was a desperate, last attempt. This is why I said his impulsive behavior is what's killing his chances. The ML has let his true feelings show on many occasions, hence why everyone is fully aware at this point that the FL is his weakness. The FL is smart enough to know how to play her cards and even without being a spy, one can easily see how their household works when it comes to subject of personal choices, so rejection is the best choice in this situation.

You're mistaken, I didn't forget Jiashang's converstation with his father nor his father's threats regarding Shizhen. I'm well aware that at this moment, he as an individual isn't able to freely make his own choices due to his controlling father and his family's current situation. He's still young and the most rational thing for him to do IS to figure things out before making any sudden moves that can cause dangerous/negative consequences. He actually does need time to grow so he can not only fend for himself in the future, but also for those he cares about. We also already know he's intelligent in many ways, whether it's in his secretly advanced academics or the way he strategized to move things in his favor when it came to the family's business dealings.
My comment was more about his impulsive behavior despite knowing all this about his own situation. He really isn't like his father in wanting multiple women, but due to his early confession, they're just empty words as there's no guarantee he won't get married. Had the FL been a normal woman with no revenge plan and purely had feelings for him, his confession would be quite degrading as his engagement was publicly announced just minutes before and yet he's asking for her to wait for him anyways. While this isn't the case for the FL, the ML doesn't know this. So from an outsider's perspective it's still a confession done in poor taste and his rash behavior could put her in even more danger if he keeps acting out in this way.
The first thing I mentioned in my original comment was that the ML's jealousy is helping her revenge plan. We as viewers already know she wouldn't accept his confession whether she had feelings or not. Her goal is to take down their family, not to have a romantic relationship. She needs to keep using him to carry out her plans and rejecting him is the smartest way to keep him hooked and keep her footing in their household. While Both the ML and FL are restrained from making personal choices, the FL was more than willing to put herself on this path of revenge and do whatever it takes to see it through. Hope this cleared things up.
Sooo, we are forgetting that the FL is basically there to manipulate the guy and destroy his family. She only…
FL's ability to manipulate is excellent and like I mentioned in my first comment, the ML's jealousy is definitely helping the FL's revenge plan which she's determined to carry out. Her boss might've given an extra push to assist, but she was already doing a well enough job on her own. A manipulative FL and an immature ML can only mean we're in for a lot more dramatic behavior especially with 40 episodes. And like you said, ML eventually breaking away from his family for the FL who deceived him seems the likely path.
He is a 19/20 year old rich boy. At this age they lack self control and experience (she still calls him a kid).…
I agree. She's definitely playing her cards right getting this reaction out of him already even if she didn't plan it happening through a surprise kiss from her boss. Now that she's got him even more hooked, we're in for some more mind games ahead.
EP 16: Even though jealousy helps the revenge plan, Jiashang's impulsive behavior is really killing his chances with Shizhen, whether she's a spy or not. Did he really think she would jump into his arms just minutes after his engagement with another woman was announced?
"Please give me a little more time. I will grow up soon."
Sir... are you hearing yourself? You want a gorgeous goddess like Shizhen.... to put her own life (romance incl. or not) on hold... to wait for YOU to grow up... whatever lifetime that may be?? AND while you're married to someone else?? If the tables were turned and she said that to him, he probably would've already died of a heart attack from both anger and jealousy lol
What I did like was how there were small hints of Shizhen's true feelings laced into her rational response to his confession.
NOTE: Jiashang's father is so hell-bent on marrying him into the Du family against his wishes, so I'm just wondering.. if he wants this business connection sooo bad, then why doesn't he just go marry Du Lanxin himself?? 🤣 It obviously comes easy to him given his track record. Jokes aside though, when I think of Du Lanxin, even without knowing much about her just yet, I feel she deserves way better than their messy family.
OMG..... 🤣 LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣This has got to be the funniest comment I've read in a while....…
LOL it was too funny. Even though they've been throwing in all kinds of nonsense in the final eps, I really didn't expect them to throw in comedy for the finale. The dialogue was killing me 🤣
So the male lead dies??And FL doesn't even care that ML died??
He sacrifices himself in order to kill the main villain and also to save the FL's project from being stolen by said villain. He knew it meant the world to her more than her own life, so yeah he dies at the very end. The FL does care that he died and tries to clear his name as he was considered a suspect of espionage in the ongoing police investigation.
I really had no expectations for the finale given the way the previous eps were spiraling into disappointment, but what on earth was that final episode??? They killed off everyone as predicted and left many loose ends. But the dialogue during some of the scenes... I'm sorry I laughed. It basically went like:
Zhou Xiaoshan: *still trying to recover from a mental breakdown* Hui is my daughter... Qiu Jianing: *ignores him* ... Anyways, are you going to give the formula?? You better not Zhou Xiaoshan: *literally in tears* ........ 😑
*Right after ZXS dies in the explosion*
Qin Bin to Qiu Jianing: Cheer up (wtf Qin Bin??? lol) Qiu Jianing: .... I want to know about the explosion site Qin Bin: Oh right, yeah everyone is definitely dead. Qiu Jianing: *in tears* ........ 😑
So Qin Bin is an insensitive piece of crap: confirmed lol and Qiu Jianing got what she wanted. I think the only part of the final episode I liked was the scene of Zhou Xiaoshan with his daughter and the song playing during the flashbacks at the end. That's it. What a train wreck of a drama, the only positive part is that the main villain died and that it's finally over.
They keep throwing events left and right in each of these final episodes, I guess for added shock value, and they're either illogical or unnecessary. I really don't see this drama ending without some major shortcomings.
agreed. Lu Ming(the actor David Wang was in the following drama Love Yourself with Victoria too. he played a annoying…
He definitely deserved better lol Between the antics of both Fan Xing and Lu Ming, Yuan Song really put up with a lot of unnecessary crap the entire time
agreed. Lu Ming(the actor David Wang was in the following drama Love Yourself with Victoria too. he played a annoying…
In that case, I will still put it on my list to watch and see how it goes lol I've been trying to catch up on Victoria's dramas these days since I realized I hadn't seen anything of hers since 2018 with Moonshine and Valentine.
agreed. Lu Ming(the actor David Wang was in the following drama Love Yourself with Victoria too. he played a annoying…
To be honest I found most of the main characters annoying in Find Yourself so I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. Ohh he plays another annoying character in that drama too?? I guess that means he's pretty talented if he's able to get viewers annoyed with his characters lol.. I haven't watched Love Yourself, but I think I will save myself the extra headache and steer clear from it.
Before I started watching this, I noticed all the comments saying the second male lead was extremely annoying, so I was preparing myself for the worst, but.. maybe it's because I just recently finished Victoria's other drama Find Yourself that I found Qin Bin's character not that bad compared to the second male lead in that drama. Lu Ming was extreme torture to watch and even worse that he got way more screentime than the actual male lead. Qin Bin is a walk in the park compared to him lol.. Now 29 episodes into this drama and the most annoying character for me personally is the bitter, gossiping co-worker Zhu Zhu who likes Xiao Shan.
Sooo... they really gave us a special ep/epilogue that consisted of Yu Zhen and Zhi Tong, instead of Yu Zhen and Shi Lei? They really did that to us?? smh lol... Those few seconds of them at the end and those recycled flashbacks don't count. Don't get me wrong, Aaron's acting was great this ep, he works well with whoever he's paired with. But why on earth wouldn't they give Yu Zhen and Shi Lei the spotlight they deserved now that they're finally a couple?? These poor decisions are what kept holding the drama back from becoming something better.
I know everyone's busy expressing their likes/dislikes with this drama, but I want to give a well-deserved shout out to the ost artist Andrew Tan. All of his songs were really good. "The Only One I Wanna Know" became my personal favorite.
