Just wanted to point out to the people thinking that the straight couple plot is so in the background you won't even notice it: Queer people on all platforms are annoyed by it. Twitter, TikTok, everyone sees it, everyone talks about it. So, no, it's not pointless whining or baseless accusations, it's just pointing out the obvious based on the facts. If it wasn't such an issue, everyone just would shrug and say meh and just skip it.

But we, as a community, are used to it. You think it's the first time the straight couple overwhelms the queer one? Look at Arcane. Even the writers themselves forgot they had a very popular wlw pair. And everyone eats it up. Every time. And just accuses us of whining.

So, no, it is far from being a first or the last time. But every time is just tiring as the last, and that's why we talk about it. Peace ✌️

Oooh, they tried to make it a cabled TV show? I see the root of the problem clearly now.

I mean, sure there are scenes like that, but just like i said, there's not much of them. Because they don't interact much due to the fact that they're barely friends as of now.

Why does the second pair feels more present? Because they already had deep conversations like that, example being the scene where Chan Yeong goes back to tennis because Ji Yu talks with him about doing things that you love. This is not baseless fear that they're overshadowing the main pair, they kinda already do....

I think one user put it as simply as this: Ji Yu' s relationship with Chan Yeong is very present and prominent as of now, while any scene with Heesu and Seungwon is happening in the background. It is not only about the chiken date, but it is the most obvious example.

It is not about the cute scenes, it's just that there's not much of meaningful and deep scenes between them either.

The series. Not the movie. And yes, it does contain explicit scenes. And? Those are adult gay men, and the tv series are based on a real novel, which is in turn based on authors real life expiriences. And yet, i didn't meant that as "mature". I meant topics of homophobia, internalised and externalised, misogyny, AIDS, death of loved ones and etc.

Can 18 y.os experience love? Yeah, for sure. I was a 14 y.o. freshly out of the closet girl once too. Do this show portray it gracefully? No. In fact, it doesn't portray it at all. So excuse me if i and other queer people are kind of pissed at it.

Will i continue watching it? Perhaps. If it gets better. So far, it didn't. And for what reason, a bunch of other lesbian, bi, gay and other folks already explained over and over again.

And i didn't insult you, at least didn't mean to. But no, i do not take into consideration straight people's opinion on queer shows.

I feel like you would benefit from watching something mature. Like love in the big city. (A true love story, just like you said, and not this stuff) Then you will understand what queer people want to see in their lgbt dramas. Not blatant queerbait at this point.

Dunno who's in charge of the preview of the episodes, but truly love that they stubbornly continue to put Heesu and Seungwon on them, no matter how sparse their interactions were.

I feel like we were all just collectively queer baited in a lgbt show lol. Cause tf you mean you talk about the potential date and then just....not....show it....?

This would make sense if the focus of the two episodes of the week was indeed on Heesu and not Chan Yeong's struggles lol. We don't see him from Heesu's perspective, we see him from either the "outsiders" (The third party: Us, the viewer) perspective, or his own.

Be patient...yeah, we hear it for two weeks now. But, we shall see. Maybe next week we have to be "just patient" too, yeah?

I would like to believe that thing about exploring relationship between the four is true, if not for the fact that the show is yet to explore relationship between Heesu and his best (!!!) friend in depth, we get one little scene of Ji Yu and Seungwon, and communication between any other combination other than main pairs is pretty much nonexistent.... No, let's be real, anything else that is not this stuff between Ji Yu and Chan Yeong.

If they're not gonna give all of the screen time of future episodes to Heesu and Seungwon, which is a pretty big IF, their relationship is gonna be 100% rushed.

If it's gonna happen at this point at all.

I have a feeling most of the viewers just skipped their scenes when they saw them together on screen so 🤐 nothing lost, nothing gained.

Y'know, i have nothing to say against Ji Yu, cause there's literally nothing to be critical of, but the guy is okay? Really? Really really? He's straight up a bad friend and a lukewarm person overall.

See, this is a problem i have too. Why do the second leads (are second leads in the first place?) get to be shown off, why are their relationship is present and very prominent, but the MAIN leads feel very....not here? In the background? Why does all their stuff happen in the background?

I wanted to be positive. Very very bad. I did not watch the trailer, but as i can tell, people started to have their doubts back then. And now it just feels like all the doubts are being confirmed.

Everyone told us to wait and see. And so far, i do not like the things I'm seeing, and i have less and less hope with every positive thing i try to dug out.

I think this is the same problem that High School return of a Gangster suffered from. They wanted to make a re-make of a queer story so it would reach a broader audience. And honestly? What a shitty move.

Why, pray tell, do you insist on adapting a queer story, if you're not willing to go all the way? There's plenty of bromance and heterosexual webtoons, so i do not understand the issue. It kinda reeks of homophobia, but what do we expect from South Korea, right? Wrong. The can do good. They did! Love in the Big city was a hit in Korea. And they still do stuff like this?

At least Return of A Gangster didn't push pointless heterosexual romances to anyone and tried to insert subtle hints of tension. They tried. Here, i assume they were too afraid to even try to make the MAIN pair to be the MAIN focus.
