Wow nice to see positivity here for once instead of the negative misery! Anyway, as I said Heesu and Seung won…
Now that i think about it, less people would give a damn if Chan Yeong was an actually compelling character. Right now, he's not. He's boring and insufferable, so by extension, every paired scene with him and Ji Yu is insufferable. So expect more negativity to come if he continues to be like that lol.
idk I have a feeling some of you guys will be mad every two episodes… I think every week one episode will focus…
Be fr, nobody started watching the show for the second pair, most people weren't even aware that they're a "thing", cause they're not in the sourcebook. So it's a pretty logical reaction, the way people are either bored, don't care, or are angry with them.
Most people everywhere do not want to watch them. Hell, I'm from a slavic, very homophobic country, and all of the watchers (Which is surprisingly a pretty large number) dgaf about the second pair. Especially queer people. And it's not even taking into consideration east asian fans, who are very disappointed too. So yeah, by now, this kind of reaction is very understandable 🤷♀️
after watch eps 5, i must low my expectation to truly enjoy this seriesare this drama good ? yep, if you never…
Yeah, it's the way the two episodes are good, two are bad, this one is good again. It's like walking onto the minefield blindfolded. Not happy that it's the way it is, cause the jumps in quality are really... something.
This is the moment we've all been waiting for...and the whole crowd CHEERED!! FINALLY!! The focus is on the main pair again.
I take everything i said about Ji Yu back, i love you Ji Yu, just get rid of that yearning final boss and we're golden. She's way more interesting than he is. (Well, at least, she's a good friend) They've shown more of her friendship with Seungwon and i loved it.
Regardless, on the more serious note: I'm very happy they breached the topic of Heesu's internalised and (Very brief, but it's there. The way he was like huh? You are allowed to do that? For a moment towards Seungwons moms) externalised homophobia. It was pretty obvious that he has it, but some people disagreed, so I'm glad it's confirmed. And it's good that it's the thing that pushed him closer to Seungwon, cause he's beginning to realise that there must be a person who would accept him for him, even when he's not fully ready to accept himself. I hope they will take more time to explore the topic, cause internalised homophobia is very, very common in young gay people, and it's important to talk about it.
Overall, very happy with the episode, cause i feel that we're finally moving somewhere. Chan Yeong and his mf tennis are still boring as hell, but he was easily ignoreable this time.
Instead of removing the 2nd BL couple from the manhwa they could've added a 2nd GL couple but no everything in…
"Like they white wash their skin" I'm dead lmfao. I actually thought that they're gonna do something about a girl with a crush on the athlete, but nah, let's make a long ass sequence of how the straights frolic around. They're totally going to love it.
I totally understand people's criticism and I have ton of cricitism for the recent episodes myself. Am I annoyed…
Agree with you on that one. I rarely drop shows that i liked at the beginning, even when they get worse, because i hope that they will prove me wrong. And on this one...i REALLY hope that it will, because i want to like it.
I honestly don't understand. I hope someone explains to me .Why do s.korea directors/producers "adapt" BL manhwas…
Right? The argument that BLs (Or GLs, for that matter) need straight couples to be popular is just untrue, cause the most popular BLs/GLs don't have them at all. But i can see why would people think that shows like that need straight couples. Cause no matter how boring they are, they always produce quite a bank. The problem is, however, is that they do that in every other drama, and not a queer one, adding them to any queer drama just makes people not want to watch it.
But i doubt that people defending it will ever get it, because they think just like the creators: That having straight couples will attract more people. That no one wants to watch gay couples only.
Why would thay adapt them though? I guess the answer is pure bait. They bait the fans of the original into watching it. Sometimes the end result is good or meh, so it's worth watching (so you can at least look at your favourite characters again), but not the praise. Sometimes the result is... this.
It was obvious with the trailer , so i don't knownwhy people are so shocked ,i hope it fails badly , so that they…
Sadly i think if it fails the creators would take it the wrong way. Instead of understanding that the problem is in the second couple, they would assume that the problem is the main one. Or outright ignore that. South Korea is very homophobic, after all.
The real reason im still holdin on to this series is bcs i saw the leaks of them filming the kissing scenes years…
Idk you do know that it sounds kinda shifty right? Especially with no evidence of those leaks. I fear some people, especially the fans, would know about them. But i saw no one, even the hardcore webtoon fans, talk about it.
I accidentally fell asleep after watching episode eight and had a dream where my relative told me they accept me no matter what. 10/10 would get queerbaited again.
Here is the situation from my personal viewpoint:- It's not necessarily the fact that there IS a straight pairing…
Well said. Originally, i started watching it because my girlfriend thought that i might like the dynamic between the two main characters, so i decided to give it a go, even though i prefer something that is more...well...angsty, so to speak.
Now, here's a thing: When i watch a regular drama, i expect straight people and heterosexual romances, be it on the side, or the main one. I usually try to avoid any romance, but sometimes it is just unavoidable. I know that most of the dramas have them, so there's no point in complaining. But when i decide to change my course and watch a romance drama , it is usually purely gl or bl. I don't expect anything else, because why would anything else be there?
Imagine my surprise when i discovered that this show, apparently, will feature a second leading couple that didn't exist in the original, even though the original source is a purely queer webtoon? And furthermore, it is done so it would be more appealing to the masses? And not only they are listed as main characters, not only it is a second couple, now it pretty much overshadows the queer pair in the QUEER SHOW.
I was not a fan of this particular webtoon, cause i am not a fan of webtoons in general. But now i can see why it is a real disappointment to the webtoon fans. Not only a disappointment, but a huge middle finger to the original source, too. If it doesn't change very soon...i fear it would be a failed show, cause as of now, the ratings are dropping everywhere.
They failed to attract the straight crowd with this one cause most straight people would NOT pick up something with prominent gay characters in the first place, and they repelled queer fans by trying to appeal to everyone else but them.
It's doesn't bother you that the straight couple is becoming the main one in the BL? Oh brother.
It does smell of casual homophobia. Not the regular "You are unnatural and disgusting" kind, but the "well, straight people are the norm, you should get used to it" one. I'm intimately familiar with both, unfortunately.
It's doesn't bother you that the straight couple is becoming the main one in the BL? Oh brother.
The point is that it's a queer drama, and you would expect a queer show to put a gay couple in the spotlight :D which is apparently isn't the case.
Pretty weird, if you ask me, considering we already have countless hettie dramas. Heterosexuals dramas put straight pairs on the first place, and queer dramas are now normalised to do that too? Hmm. You wouldn't see it happening in reverse, that's for sure.
Just wanted to point out to the people thinking that the straight couple plot is so in the background you won't even notice it: Queer people on all platforms are annoyed by it. Twitter, TikTok, everyone sees it, everyone talks about it. So, no, it's not pointless whining or baseless accusations, it's just pointing out the obvious based on the facts. If it wasn't such an issue, everyone just would shrug and say meh and just skip it.
But we, as a community, are used to it. You think it's the first time the straight couple overwhelms the queer one? Look at Arcane. Even the writers themselves forgot they had a very popular wlw pair. And everyone eats it up. Every time. And just accuses us of whining.
So, no, it is far from being a first or the last time. But every time is just tiring as the last, and that's why we talk about it. Peace ✌️
I think one user put it as simply as this: Ji Yu' s relationship with Chan Yeong is very present and prominent…
I mean, sure there are scenes like that, but just like i said, there's not much of them. Because they don't interact much due to the fact that they're barely friends as of now.
Why does the second pair feels more present? Because they already had deep conversations like that, example being the scene where Chan Yeong goes back to tennis because Ji Yu talks with him about doing things that you love. This is not baseless fear that they're overshadowing the main pair, they kinda already do....
you guys? did we watch different show? like deadass? what do you mean Heesu has less screentime than the straight…
I think one user put it as simply as this: Ji Yu' s relationship with Chan Yeong is very present and prominent as of now, while any scene with Heesu and Seungwon is happening in the background. It is not only about the chiken date, but it is the most obvious example.
It is not about the cute scenes, it's just that there's not much of meaningful and deep scenes between them either.
Most people everywhere do not want to watch them. Hell, I'm from a slavic, very homophobic country, and all of the watchers (Which is surprisingly a pretty large number) dgaf about the second pair.
