So does the manhwa end with Heesu and Seung Won becoming a couple or is there enough story leftover for a S2?
Oh there's plenty of story to adapt for season 2, but i doubt it's happening...ever. Considering that this season was only greenlit in 2025 when it was filmed in....what was it? 2022? I would guess it wasn't really profitable even back then. No popular queer streaming services wanted to buy it. And with the hot mess that this drama turned out to be, the chances of there being a season 2 are very slim.
I know lol, i just said that I'm not defending this choice. I'm just clarifying that it would be unsurprising that the kiss is not happening, considering everything. I'm the last person to be surprised that they intentionally or not removed a lot of queerness from the show.
The actor of Seung Won was of age tho. I don't know about anyone else, but as a 20+ something i would be kinda uncomfortable to kiss a 17-18 y.o.....not defending the drama here, just clarifying.
The best example of it for me is Secret Relationship I'd say. The main pair didn't get together untill the end,…
Yep, SR wasn't that great either, but i felt that their relationship progressed pretty naturally, given everything happening in the show.
But the thing between Seungwon and Heesu drags on literally for no reason, cause like you said, Seungwon could've confessed in episode 8. Now i fear confession is not coming until episode 10 🥀
I still enjoy this BL and its atmosphere a lot but imo there's still a lack of chemistry between Heesu and Seung…
The best example of it for me is Secret Relationship I'd say. The main pair didn't get together untill the end, but one of the MLs expressed that he likes the MC pretty early on, and acted on it. But it has less episodes, too. If you want to drag declaration of fondness that far, i fear you need more episodes, or give all the attention to the main pair.
Man you would think that people would stop throwing shade at each other and would mind their own business (AKA express their own thoughts without poking anyone else in the meantime) after the warning was added, but i guess not. If you write a positive review, why would you always mention people writing negative ones, and not simply focus on the positives?
Anyway. I'm hoping all the people who simply enjoy this show and want to express it, or people who do not and want to express it without being all close and personal a very pleasant day and a nice watch. Remember, everyone's opinions are valid as long as you're not being rude to others about it
"Be grateful we even got this show"WHY? Oh coz they ruined the manhwa in the best way possible Sure honey
"Get the negativity out of here" you know all kinds of reviews and discussions is THE point of sites like this, right? 🥀 Everyone's free to write their thoughts IF (Check the rules) they're not being rude to others about it.
As a lifelong slow burn fan, i just wanted to clarify that slow burn means not only slow development of relationship, but also always present tension from BOTH sides and lots and lots of scenes and attention to the pair in question. There were little to no attention to Heesu and Seungwon as friends, yet alone lovers, and it seems like Heesu developed his new crush pretty fast.
You can't call every slow developing relationship a slow burn. Just saying. Doesn't mean that it's bad relationship, it's just not it. Slow burning show though? For sure.
The thing is, the story is good. But it's not without bad things. Like you said, cinematography and acting are…
Well, i can present such examples as like Love For Love's sake and Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo too, they're not just as huge as LITBC, but they're still pricey with amazing cinematography and acting. Love's for Love sake could be easily said to be one of the best pure romance dramas out of all romances, not just BLs. And both of those stories are purely queer stories. And yeah, success doesn't mean acceptance, but it still doesn't mean that creators should bend under the press of societal expectations just to please the audience who are not only not gonna watch them, but most likely boycott them too.
And yeah, it was filmed before it, but another example of very huge success amongst BL dramas that are kinda older is Semantic Error.
I understand if you don't like the drama's story after reading the original webtoon, but...As someone who has…
The thing is, the story is good. But it's not without bad things. Like you said, cinematography and acting are amazing, but watering down a pure BL adaptation, after shows like Love in The Big City were a big success? This is kind of a low blow. And that's what most people trying to explain, i think.
I sort of laughed out loud when they made the carrot juice person be like the goddamn Poe Toaster. It's Chan Yeong,…
I mean, it's obvious at this point that they're not giving Heesu and Seungwon enough moments, but I'm gulping down those crumbs like the most starved pigeon on Earth. But, yeah, that happened again.
I guess everyone hoped that confession is gonna happen at least in episode 8, and then dating era, and that otherwise they're not gonna get enough time being together, and guess what happened? Episode 9 is gonna be an unnecessary conflict based on a misunderstanding with a last minute resolution, and if we're lucky, episode 10 will have at least 15 mins of them together, while the second pair got 4 episodes to themselves. So, everyones fears came true. Fun. 😔
Man, watching this sleepy is a very poor choice. But whatever, I'm gonna pretend that there's no war in Ba Sing Se and ignore the very obvious elephant in the room. Just kinda curious how much time exactly secondary characters got on this episode compared to Heesu.
Whatever. The carrot dilemma is resolved, and it was anticlimactic. I was hoping for literally anyone else, and that's just boring. Could've guessed it episodes ago, but i thought they wouldn't have made it so obvious. That's one point down.
The very very bad thing is that i can smell the upcoming unnecessary conflict. Heesu could've just met the "carrot person" and everything would've resolved itself, but no. I understand why that was done from Heesu's standpoint, but not from writer's standpoint. But i guess people rooting for their blessed slow burn are happy for this one.
All the sparse moments between Seungwon and Heesu were adorable, he's finally taking notice of things Seungwon likes and how he is. I used to pray for times like this. And finally, Seungwon clears the situation regarding Ji Yu. Could've done that an episode or two ago, but whatever. Turtle pace is our favourite.
I think the sound of people playing tennis on the court outside is kinda triggering to me now.
I am thinking of watching it for a long time but still couldn’t come up the courage after the trauma "Love in…
Oh no lol, don't worry, it is not traumatising like Love In The Big City at all. Leads have great chemistry, you can tell that they like each other and they suit each other well, but they're nowhere near being in relationship or a confession and it's already episode 7, with episode 8 coming tomorrow....
Overall, the story is good, but not without unnecessary complications and confusing plot things. The second pair is boring as hell, but you can easily just skip them.
And in conclusion i would say that it's not a BL, it's more of a coming of age story. So if you don't mind things like that, give it a watch. Everything regarding two main leads is very entertaining. But like i said, it's not "pure BL".
Poor Hee Su. Had a crush on his straight best friend, now has a crush on (what he beliefs is) his other straight…
The confrontation was giving slight second hand embarrassment, but it was only slight before Chan Yeong inserted himself in it so he could "Defend his girlfriend" without even asking what's the fuss about. Bro WHO asked you.
Anyway, i noticed not only that they decided to make him oblivious for some reason, when the main point was that in original he KNEW, but they're trying to make him as unlikeable as possible. Maybe someone actually hates him in the writers room? Lol.
