People can be so gender biased and vicious. So ji sub is decades older than her and no one has a problem. But if an actress such as song hye kyo or park min young is cast with someone, the comments from people (women included) can be really mean. Why do people have a problem with older women. Given how long women live (they outsurvive men by like 7 years globally) what are older women supposed to do dissappear, fade away or wear a Harry Potter invisibility cloak.

As someone who has faced workplace bullying. Also someone who has witnessed people battling mental health issues due to toxic coworkers and one instance of a suicide also, I am extremely distressed to see how song ga kyung acts with bae ta mi. Slapping, dismissal on unfair grounds this is bad. In any other time, place she should have been sued. Is Korean work culture really so bad that people can abuse their inferiors so horribly ?

The actress is the one and yes the character too. I mean think this way she is a more of an personality like someone from Blackpink where how they look is important than talent like lady Gaga or Adele

in the actress interviews you can see her also admitting that she is scared to eat and gain weight. and I get where you coming from. also in the drama also she is shown being "too careful" of the way she eats. she is constantly exercising multiple times a day in the drama. that's what I remember a lot. so yes I totally get you

I totally agree with you. Many of my friends’ south and East Asian mothers are exactly the same. However I found the mom less conservative but more bitter. I think anyone would be if their husband left them just because they want to pursue their career … I also think that this drama showed the best character development for her mom something which many dramas don’t know. She went from being harsh to being a champion of her daughter and I love this slow transformation

Exactly I agree with you why not state it for what it is. Persons with depression do not get magically cured. Why did they not go there I do not understand

I actually liked Shan Shan’s character arc. I met such people in college who seemingly destroyed their lives because of minor reasons such as boys. Later they were almost always diagnosed with clinical depression. I think this is an Asian thing (south and east both) where people refuse to acknowledge such things. My only wish was that the author was brave enough to openly show it and the perfect ending for Shan Shan would have been counselling with regular therapy on her path to healing

I have also given up on Korean dramas. Weird endings such as dol dol sol, toxic relationships and too much focus on the girl to be self sacrificing paragon of virtue etc etc. and crying. God the crying almost every drama has this formulaic occurrence from episode 9 after the weird kissing scene where the characters keep crying for at least 5 episodes. Then also the weird separation where the hero disappears for years if not a decade. Thanks to netflix and other platforms I now like watching Turkish, British, Swedish and Chinese dramas more.

Also I think this is similar to someone saying they don’t like LGBTQ romance and then going ahead and reading 800 pages of priory of orange tree just because it was the most hyped book of 2019. And then still rating the book one star on goodreads. It’s not fair to the author or the reader right? :D :D

How can you pretend when it is the whole premise of the story? You can watch short video clips on YouTube for LinYi instead of watching this entire story unfold ?. If you like nice looking main leads watch’s go ahead. There is no age gap there

Look I think if you have such a strong feeling about such a story don’t watch it. They do touch about this topic. Also the social prejudice is obvious when no one says anything where the second lead is twenty years older than heroine ! But in the drama people comment when the heroine is only 4/5 years older. Wasting 31 hours on something you don’t inherently like may not be the most constructive use of your time. I for example hate Chaebol type stories with jerky rich guys and self sacrificing poor hardworking heroines. No matter how hyped the story is I would still never watch it

Exactly that’s why I thought she was depressed after ep 25. She is numb all the time, she cannot smile and she cannot eat. It’s almost as if her breakup was the trigger not the cause. I show wish, like you, that she is not miraculously cured

I did too. I loved the slow burn. Also the scenes were gorgeous especially the jungle ones. It kind of showed why a star would fall for an ordinary guy, because those scenes showcased his take charge attitude which clearly the heroine likes

I am loving this drama. The chemistry between the leads is awesome. His best friend the one he keeps bringing everywhere is too good. The drama has also pushed the envelope on so many things. I however wish they showed more of Ma Shan Shan condition since I think she is clinically depressed. I wish they touched a little on mental health too

It’s actually quite ok to not communicate when you are angry. But she did say sorry. Sometimes when couples quarrel they disappear for a week or so. But at least they don’t show abusive ghosting patterns such as in Korean dramas (dr John, clean with passion, true beauty) where the hero disappears for years. I fell in love with drama-land due to k dramas but now I find Chinese dramas or Pakistani dramas more non toxic and real
