Well , Almost all dramas of 'The Lost tomb' Universe can be watched on surface as standalone . But if you really want to capture the whole story or go deep into the characters or the plot, there are a bunch to watch.

Wu xie's own exploration starts with ' The Lost Tomb ' ( 2015) where he meets Zhang Qiling & Wang Pangzi for the first time . it has several sequels which weren't released chronologically. I don't know where this one will fall but i guess you can watch them while you wait. This is somewhat different from the original storyline in my guess, but much relatable.

I will suggest the 2015 The Lost Tomb as a first watch.

Went in for the plot was fresh and unusual. No regrets ! Plus the osts are good ! Especially those two sung by Curley Gao & Liu Yuning !! Love

The subtitles are a mess but years of watching dramas like an addict didn't go into vain lol. Quite similar to Weak hero but also quite different. The story gets interesting as episode progresses, first being the most boring. I like it so far.

Finally finished it after a lots of holding. I think I enjoyed the prequel better. But it was a fun watch ! Really loved Thunder in both movies.

Loved it !! Originally I wanted to watch only the S3 because I really love Cheng Yi in Wuxia/Xianxia dramas, but got into this after watching a clip of the masked group. Well, I ended up loving this drama and feeling glad that I started watching it. The ending was sad but also something I actually liked. Everything going as desired feels a bit too much for me. Overall, a really good watch. Can't wait for S3 !!! The only sad part is I didn't find an ost to repeat from it, the songs were good, I admit but I didn't get the feelings to download and repeat. I hope I get my wish fulfilled with Cheng Yi's one.

Not all , Hong Ye and Quzhuo from the masked group lives, Huai Zhu dies after giving birth to her son. The ending is quite sad one but also prepares for a promising future. It also sets the story to followup with Season 3, sword & beloved.
