I'd have to agree and disagree with you on the whole choosing patients thing. You're partially correct, a doctor indeed cannot choose his patients unless he's the one who has the authority to assign them or is incapable to provide that certain treatment. But in case of relatives, I believe it's an universal thing that a doctor or surgeon can definitely refuse to treat someone he's emotionally attached to. As a matter of fact, in some places you legally cannot treat someone who's your relative or friend.
