what does the love thread do?and why do they want it ?
In the world of TTEOTM one needs love threads to be able to feel love and other emotions. Those love threads can also be given away or stolen. BC who has somehow obtained an extra love thread is able to make everyone fall in love with her - I guess you could think of it as levelling up your love mojo😄
TTJ doesn't have any love threads, but as the drama progresses it starts developing through his interaction with YXW/LSS.
Actually I find kdrama quite interesting in that aspect and/or developing in interesting ways. They're not shying…
Yes we can all agree that the charcterisation of women still has a long way to go.
But I wasn't thinking romcoms per se - just in general kdramas seem to be developing in interesting ways. There's the Witch's Romance where the FL is very assertive. The super awesome Alchemy of Souls (which I think of as k-wuxia/xianxia) has a female lead who's not exactly innocent and she's super assertive too. Mu Deok reminded me so much of Bai Lu's Lu Zhao Yao in The Legends. Just that that storyline descended into a bit of a farce when they started exploding BL every few eps........I remember thinking this is what BL's role should have been if executed correctly when I was watching AOS.
Oh I would also be remiss if didn't highlight some modern cdramas which portray women better and more realistically: The Rational Life and Delicious Romance for eg.
We need dramas that have main characters like Pian Ran and Qing Yu. Especially Pian Ran. Why can't female leads…
Actually I find kdrama quite interesting in that aspect and/or developing in interesting ways. They're not shying away from pairing older female leads with younger male leads, even tho' this is still seen as a major no-no by Asian audiences and female viewers will be especially vitriolic about this. As an Asian woman, really have a tough time understanding why they go all nuts over that instead of celebrating it - so duhh. The kdrama female leads also don't get dumbed down halfway thru the series which happens way too often in cdramas esp. costume dramas and are allowed to be morally gray and assertive in relationships.
As a fan of cdrama I too hope the characterisation of female leads will get better. Someone like Bai Lu for eg who's so awesome at being the bossy, kickass heroine really shines in those kind of roles - just a pity that the writing and storylines seldom do her justice.
Ah well, but then there's Michelle Yeoh, my fellow countrywoman, who's just made history breaking thru' some important glass ceilings in Hollywood and she's now coming back as the evil dominatrix empress in Star Trek! YAY!!!!💪💪💪
She wasn't innocent in the beginning (because I know that will be brought up) but everything she does is her survival…
That line about how fine a line it is between being devil or a god when they encounter the sleeping dragon kind of applies here I think. Humans too can go either way - how much is due to fate/circumstance and how much is due to individual choice?
She wasn't innocent in the beginning (because I know that will be brought up) but everything she does is her survival…
But isn’t it still down to choices? We see TTJ the character with the most reason to go all out to blitz the world and everyone around him, but he’s quite selective with his outrage. He even allows his former nanny to stab him as a sort of repayment of the debt he owes her. Yes BC may be just trying to survive, but at this stage it could also just be a rationalisation for having a transactional view of relationships.
Ima just leave this hear....its too beautifulhttps://youtu.be/LdYSB1Dgzuw
Ah thank you! I love the way LYX moves cos of his dance background. Really need him to do more wuxia dramas. The last one he did had a crap storyline but the few fighting scenes he managed to do before he injured his knee there were great, he moves so well. There’s a scene where he’s fighting using a fan - awesome.
I kinda understand Ye Bing Chang. At the beginning of the series, she was genuinely kind and merciful. She also…
But she somehow stole a love thread that doesn’t belong to her no? Which is why she has a touch of demonic energy in her…….indicating she isn’t as innocent and kind as she pretends to be.
I want to see her with Zhang Linghe... bc they are supposed to be a real couple...
Really ah? I like Zhang Linghe too - he was surprisingly good in Maiden Holmes and great eye candy. But I think he’s still got a way to go to catch up to LYX.
Well I just hope he doesn't use them on himself and fall in love with Xiwu because of them.
Yups I’ve always thought the fan is the best wuxia weapon. Just sooo cool and so multi-purpose. Too bad xianxia only has people waving things around in airy fairy way.
Tbh, I don't mind bad ending done right 😎 For example GMP, that's a drama that hurts so bad with a satisfying…
Ah well remember what they did with WOH and how they were changing things as the drama was on air…….if enough feedback gets thru to them maybe they’ll pull rabbit out of hat?
