Yes, no kissing is acceptable in period dramas. Also if they aren't good at it I very much prefer they don't do it. Some of the kiss scenes in costume c-dramas are sooooo lame. But you're right, Bai Lu is one of the really good kissers - her scene with Leo Luo in Love is Sweet is pretty sizzling...........so we're going to miss out on that here and especially in the modern continuation.

Don’t think anyone is downplaying that, I was truly taken aback when I first saw the thing on YT last night, and I was wondering how he could do something so careless. I myself am personally disgusted by those shrines and avoid them like the plague during trips to Japan. I’m not from the PRC but my parents, grandparents, lived through the Japanese occupation of Malaya so even people outside China know and understand the significance of Yasukuni etc. At the same time, one can still feel for ZZH and mourn the loss of a very promising actor.

Totally agree, 8 episodes in and looking forward to more. ZYC is great so far and so is the FL. As it’s a short series, have high hopes they will not have draggy plot or meaningless filler side stories.

Think harassing is putting it mildly, looks like can call it rape. He did that with his wife/XL so looks like he wants to inflict it on her to get ultimate revenge on XS. Assuming she will have to be rescued or save herself somehow, cos otherwise it would be the stupidest plot line ever. Already damned irritated with the 2 leads current passivity and her crazy naïveté - who gets into a car with total strangers? And her telling everyone including WZ that they are good! Is she going to say that to Uncle Z as well? Nuts. Her character started out so strong and rational now veering off to who knows where. And XS - he really has no plan B against Uncle Z? He’s supposed to be this super smart operative - now just sitting around, waiting to be crushed by WZ and his ‘dear’ uncle.

I think the city they filmed in is Prague. Don’t know why they call it A city. Definitely not USA cos earlier the dad said she was on her way to Princeton but opted for a small Eastern European country instead.

Frankly aside from ZZH carelessness and the despicable antifans, blame the Japanese government. Not only no apology and acknowledgement of WW2 crimes after all these years - and not only to China, but Korea and even arguably most of Southeast Asia - but still going to pay homage every year! If they weren't still doing that, those photos would just be holiday photos.

It's partly a witchhunt fuelled by envy and money-grubbers intersecting with politics and history and unfortunate carelessness on the part of ZZH...but the speed and severity of the situation is quite overwhelming - as someone said even Kris Wu wasn't taken down so fast.

Yes, officialdom has already spoken.................augh. And we were all so looking forward to more great things from ZZH. This is just too heartbreaking!

Oh s...t, ZZH is in deep trouble after old photos of him at Yasukuni shrine popped up or perhaps better to say were dug up. Huge backlash now. How is he going to survive this political shitstorm? And this probably means we'll not be seeing any of his dramas for the foresseable future...if ever.

Yes, the curse of c-dramas - dragging it out so they can presumably earn more from ads, sponsorship etc while sacrificing plot integrity. Commercialism always seems to trump artistic considerations leading to unsatisfactory pacing and storylines. For eg. right now the 2 leads seem to be practically paralyzed while their enemies just toy with them interminably. Even the part where XS finally asks the dad to help take some action has an injection of introspective remorse from the dad!!! It's like holy shit - are you guys seriously going to talk to death and wait for someone to rub out the hotel footage or what?

Yes, he does look great. So far I’m finding this story more enjoyable than the Allen Ren undercover one. I think with 24 eps this will be a much tighter plot.
