Yeah, this is also what I got when I searched about his character. In the donghua S3, but he remains a major character in S4 and S5. In the books... it was in the second book. He gets introduced after Tao Yao treats his brother (smth with his soul) nd both the books and the donghua will focus on him and his family legacy as a major part and ofc on the slow love story development with Tao Yao...

No need to worry. If you want to trust someone who’s watched almost everything gjm has done...he never really crosses the line. He might stretch it, but he doesn’t break it. 😂Even when he elevates it, it’s tasteful and subtle enough to avoid bans or outrage.

The most bromance coded were probably YYM, L.O.R.D., FoF, Wuliang ... and they all went just fine. Some actors even got more popular from it...cause ppl will seek out bromance content even in China....censorship or not. The platforms know it too... Youku literally slapped a huge thumbnail of some AI looking BL donghua on my app rn 😆

I also thought they were twins, but I was seeing the OG fans saying they aren't. There's no mention of it in the novel or the donghua, just how SJY was always mentioned as an older brother.
What I found out is that the Douban drama acc had English text in which the word "twins" was mentioned, but this was due to translation. There was a longer explanation of how and why this word found its way into the text, but since I can't Mandarin... I can't repeat the language technicalities. Anyhow....it looks like the wrongful translation caused the confusion and whoever was taking over the text was spreading the "twin" story but they aren't in the og. Everything else seems right....can't say for sure cause i only started the first season of doungha... SKL wasn't in it and i never touched the novel...🙃
Ofc this was what my short research showed me..and if any the novel reader here can or cannot confirm..it would help..

I didn't see the reuters. The last two days I haven't been getting any with her.. just one or two with Lu Yicheng and a few short ones with Deng Wei. It's strange that we don't get many. GJM usually pretends to be blind to see dps even when standing right on the set....so I don't know why we are getting less than usual... maybe the location...but the long hours and night shifts are the gjm's usual way of working 🫩

👍Hope you like it. GJM put the C-drama world on my map. It was his movie Yin-Yang Master that drew me in, and since then, I've started paying attention to C-dramas. Tho I started with watching donghua first, it's where their xianxia and fantasy settings are at their best imo...

Hahaha....yep, pretty much. Aimi and Rui are now 1:1. She got her revenge in FOF where she drugged him and beat him to make up for MJTY. 😁Now they deserve some friendship mode.

So happy that Yanan will be in it.. tho it will be in just one story arc. He and Deng Wei might get some good fighting scenes, and I'll put my money on Yanan... esp if he gets to be a demon again... he's invincible as one. The only thing I'm not happy about is that he and Rui probably won't be in the same story arc since they are filming at different times.😭

Maybe even Rui will join..there are some whispers of him joining in December...meaning also a guest role...

You should try it and see if it’s your cup of tea. I def recommend it. I love both VoS and FoF...and pretty much all of GJM’s work, even less well known...but his dramas def aren’t for everyone.

FoF and VoS have the same director’s style, some scenes are similarly structured (you find it in all his work) but the pacing is different. VoS is faster paced....with more themes and storylines, incl two love stories. FoF is slower and more focused on a group of people and how they and their relationships change during their quests. It has a slower emotional buildup, but that makes it hit harder as the story progresses.

VoS has an introductory arc that finishes around episode 6, if I remember correctly, and then things really change. I’d describe it like a plane rolling down the runway until it finally takes off in ep 7 , and then it doesn’t stop until the final ep. 🙂So try not to make a final judgment until that episode.
My advice when watching GJM’s work is to take your time. If you don’t have it... wait until you do. You’ll find very layered stories and character arcs...with details hidden even in the song lyrics. But to get all this it needs focus, no ff button, skipping over..doing smth else in the background..etc..i mean you can do all that..but it’ll significantly cut down on the experience, and you’ll mostly be left with the aesthetics and stunning visuals and good fighting scenes..For some ppl that’s enough...

But you might miss the overarching story, and themes like love and obsession, identity, inability to let go, defying fate, separation from the loved ones nd so on. He uses a lot of elements from Chinese mythology, folklore, and philosophy. .and here what i liked is how he well incorporated the Budisth teaching of the eight sufferings (even mentioned in one of the episodes).

Yeah..... this is pretty much how I saw the whole thing unfolding too... but since the script leaks are being used for this whole "who's the main" thing I'm still skeptical about what leaks are actually true, if any.

Btw....this "leaked plot" really reminds me of Stranger Things. Like, the story is also in the past, then having these weird things/creatures, and somehow Liang Yihan was connected to them, like Will was..maybe as that boy we saw on the booting day....

So it's def official... as long as it isn't Sentence..it's ok🙃

Yeah, it does sound like a different plot. I've been reading some comm about the script or parts of it being leaked to the other fandom at the end of July. Some are even using it to create more confusion about the plot....the cast...and their roles😣, so I hope we'll get the official synopsis soon. Maybe what these leakers have been saying isn't true...
We'll be needing the offical one for mdl too cause if they derail from the book, using the book's synopsis would be wrong..😞
