Does anyone know the significance of the butterfly?
I believe it a symbolism base on some chinese daoist tale of a man named Zhuangzi, exploring the nature of reality, self, and perception. In this famous thought experiment, Zhuangzi questions whether he is a man dreaming he's a butterfly or a butterfly dreaming he's a man, highlighting the ambiguity between dreaming and waking states. The dream isn't about transmigration of souls, but rather a philosophical exploration of identity and the fluidity of existence. Here's a more detailed breakdown: The Dream: Zhuangzi dreams he is a butterfly, joyfully flitting about without any awareness of being Zhuangzi. The Awakening: Upon waking, he's clearly Zhuangzi, but the experience leaves him questioning the nature of his reality. Beyond the Dream: The dream isn't about a literal transformation, but rather a metaphor for the ever-changing nature of reality and our perception of it. I read this on reddit discussion on ADWAD. It's actually an excellent use at hinting for what this drama is all about. You'll come to know as you finish this drama. Very original and creatively written not adapted on some novel. I'm so happy I get to see and watch one in chinese drama land. Coupled with a very good production, excellent actors and impressive OST+BGM - this was by far the best all around drama that came out of 2025.
Amazing edit from AvenueX. From episode 1 -40. "A dream within a Dream" video that is about 3 mins long and it's absolutely a labor of love. Enjoy! Here's the link: https://youtu.be/3GAPqT2M3yw?si=nxFXrFbiVe17RfEi
Director Zeng Qing Jie who gave us the hit Blossom pls. give us another good drama. Loved the novel so hoping for a good adaptation. I have so much expectation on this one. Bonus that I like the 2 lead - they can act.
Im on ep32. I will be watching 33-34 later tonight after work. I'm enjoying the drama and glad the pacing didn't disappoint. I'm also having a blast reading comments here and other blogs. It seems like the characters in ADWAD are all going rogue totally not accepting their fated storyline in the script. Also I've notice the readers/avid fans of the shows wants our own version of the show especially the ending. Everyone and everybody in and out of the shows wants to go out of line. 😂😂😂
I'm cheering Wang You Shou, glad to see him in another good role
Also cheering Chang Long playing the 8th prince Nan Rui. I can never hate this guy eventhough he's playing the bad guy here. His comedic timing is always fun to watch.
I'm in ep 6 and I'm enjoying the drama so far. I'm a huge fan of Singer Brother Ning since I heard his voice with "Word of Honor" OST. I've collected his OST as I watched my fave drama through the years. Now, after watching him in "AJTL" in 2023, I'm also a big fan of LYN as an actor. He can really act and he has impressive screen presence. I'm enjoying him here in "ADWAD". I havent seen much of FL -LYT drama but I know she's one of those actor that can really act. Love her here. Both of them are fun to watch. Let's hope the drama can keep it's momentum. The opening theme song and the BGM music 🎶 were amazing. I can't wait to download them.
I'm on episode 4. For some reason I'm unable to get myself immerse into this drama. Don't get me wrong, LXY is impressive as usual. The back and forth scheming between the ML and FL and the other character lacks something. It doesn't stick for some reason. I'll give it a few more episode to see if it's worth the watch.
The Dream:
Zhuangzi dreams he is a butterfly, joyfully flitting about without any awareness of being Zhuangzi.
The Awakening:
Upon waking, he's clearly Zhuangzi, but the experience leaves him questioning the nature of his reality.
Beyond the Dream:
The dream isn't about a literal transformation, but rather a metaphor for the ever-changing nature of reality and our perception of it.
