I waited and waited for this drama to air since finishing the book. I like both the ML and FL + the tandem of director who made Blossom and Familiar stranger with screenwriter of Love like the Galaxy. Watch it to ep. 7 and WOW! what a great start love love this drama adaptation. I love how they made the characters from the book came alive. So faithful to the stroyline. Cross finger it stay true and give justice to this wonderful novel. I'm tempted to freaking read the book again.

Also, slight different ending to the book but I think way better. Author/scriptwriter Gu Man upgraded it lol. It's a "whole" last episode dedicated to their life post marriage. Although surreal as they didn't look older or mature + sadly SWL acting regressed back, so awkward specially with their child. Rare gem- a drama ending that's more like a fan service in a way.

It's a nice 2026 opener. Not a suprise here. Novel and scriptwriter Gu Man did it again! From her last 2021 popular drama " You are my glory" - the Yang Yang + Dilraba 32 ep which shut down the streaming site. Although very (very) slow start to build the 1st part. I wish it was shorter somehow coz if you are not patient, the start is admittedly super draggy and will drop this drama as my sister did. The college years transition to workplace took almost 10 ep. long ( + the glaring missing ML - where the hell did Song Wei Long disappear to). The squeezed scene use of special FX/Green screen when they were supposedly abroad is poorly done here looks amateurish. It got better and story picks up at 17 when they went skiing at Chang Bai mountain. 36 ep is indeed too long for this kind of drama. 28 or 32 would have been better. But hey I have the remote for the magic FF button lol. Zhao Zinmai is good as always nothing new there but the surprise is Song Wei Long. I always thought his acting delivery is bland and still need a lot of work but here - it was pretty good, his subtle smile and facial expression is like a warm blanket on a cold winter night. Such improvement (except for the last ep. - see spoiler below). Their chemistry is also slow, timid and shy but unbelievably good to watch - you can feel their magnetic pull to each other. Surrounded by impressively well-acted supporting actors, we have a nice slice of life chinese drama off to a good start for the year. Lastly, the OST - the whole package is a solid banger!

Put on my to watch list. I hope it'll deliver and not another drama adaptation disapointment like LOTFG. Not familiar with the scriptwriters but promising directors from previous dramas like legend of shenli, Guardian of Dafeng and POB. Watched the trailer, it gives me a comedy vibes.

Oh I thought the same. It's reminds me of those Jacky Chan action scene where I've seen it for the first time. It gives me a novelty kind of feel. Very OG.

Welcome to frustration club. Lol. I gave up on this drama midway and just watch it for the epic fight scenes. This is one drama adaptation gone wrong. When is moonlit coming?

Up to ep26. The reason I'm still watching is the epic fight scenes. That horse ride fight scene in ep26 is beautifully done. Kudos to the fight director. WOW! Apart from that it's an average drama all in all.

Yes. I read that book as well. But Legend of female general for me is still top novel pick from this author. Unfortunately ruined by this drama. Up to this point, I've watch till ep15 but I've lost interest. The lazy scriptwriter just copied and paste each scene from the book in a very bad way. Douban rated it as 5.5. I rate it even lower at 4-5. Someone mention that it's hard to translate a long novel to a cdrama and get all those relevant scenes on screen. I totally disagree. The adaptation relies heavily on good director and scriptwriter that knows how to go about it. Take for example Blossom, the novel is 523 but it was adapted beautifully. I actually love how they cut some of the characters to fit the drama narrative so I was expecting the same here. LOTFG is 267 with epilogue + 5 extra chapter but look where we are with the drama smh. LOTFG cdrama adaptation is poorly done period.

OMG! Kindred spirit here. Lin Shuang He IS my fave character in the novel. My lovable physician has been erased. Yes, what a disservice this is. There's another novel l just started reading, it's pretty good - Ru Ju Er Ding(入局而定) English trasnlated to: The Gambit of Embers. 129 short chapter. Similar concept the FL has to infiltrate the palace to pretend to be the crown prince as his twin brother was abducted when they were babies by the empress. The fake crown prince aka brother was mistreated at the palace. She came to save him. I'm still early on chapter 9 and I'm liking it already and I haven't even encounter the ML. Although there's 2 that's being hinted at. Sorry going off topic. Lol

I am still watching and plan to finish this drama but the waiting for so many months was really disappointing. Anyways, I'll probably going back to re-read the novel to soothe my suffering watching this drama unfolds. Lol

I'm with you on that. I'm still carrying watching because of the characters I fell in love in the novel. I know about the censorship on rebirth theme cdrama and I get that. This drama actually manage to bypass that part by just showing the unsuccessful assassination of He Yan in the 1st episode instead of going the novel route. What I'm disappointed about was the script unable to give substance to He Yan character development. It felt all abrupt and short. The writer's unable to show how he got from point A to point B. I don't know if you follow what I mean. I'm not invested in the characters at all even after 10 episodes. I'm watching this drama with difficulty keeping up.

Lol. I was actually thinking the same thing. "That" impressive drama actually dampened my cdrama watching these days. LOTFG is one of my fave novel and this drama is so far not giving justice to the book. I know I should separate the 2 as this is supposed to be an adaptation but the fact that we're already in 10 episodes and the flow of the story is so disjointed really disappoint me. It's like the scriptwriter was so lazy and just grab a few highlighted scenes here and there from the book and stitched them together that it doesn't even make sense anymore. Smh. I can't get warm up and feel so disconnected with the story.

I'm 9 episode in and is it me that I'm still not buying zhou ye visual as a disguise "He". Don't get me wrong but she looks all clean after all that freaking training. I wish they did made her more dirtier in the military camp scene to be somewhat believable. But wow on the fight scenes. She must have put in a lot of practice to be that good.

OMG... started this after waiting for 3 mos. Where do I start.... after the 1-4 episodes. My thoughts was where is my Lin Shuang He ( The handsome Physician that treat(Royal) ladies only?! I can't believe they merge (the childish) Cheng Li Su with the character. SMH. He's one of my fave character that got erased. Also, it felt like they were not able to properly established He Yan/He RuFei storyline. I understand that rebirth storyline is a no no in chinese dramaland but, with 4 episode in I can't warm up nor empathized with her character or how she lived her life so far nor the way the family treated her. It's too abrupt. With 35 mins per episodes, I hope the drama could do justice to the novel pls. There's too many part of the novel that is so good. Pls drama do not disappoint.

It's been a while since I read the novel. But Yes, there's 2 He Yan. The ist died and transmigrated as a different He Yan. The summary here is a bit confusing. But as china do not allow rebirth story, it might be different in the drama. Novel Ist family is Male and she's from the 2nd family. She tooks over as He Rufei as a male since the real ist son was sickly and diagnosed to die young. It's the reason, she wears a mask to cover her real features as a female. She as He Rufei became a famous general in the novel but tragedy happens and she wakes up as a young He Yan of a different family. I recommend to read the novel while waiting on the drama. The link is posted up. So far the only translated novel were I cried and laugh because of what the FL went through to find love and redemption. Totally worth adapting to small screen as it s fresh take on revenge for the wrongs done to you and by your family at that. Now drama you better do a good job adapting this gem of a novel. Or else 😂😂😂
