It was well worth the time spent on this. It's a pity there are no proper subtitles for this show. It really affected my viewing experience to the point of dropping it in middle. Glad I didn't.
FL is rocking in the role of Mi yue.. So as the rest of the cast. Especially ML and FL's sister as well as the king.

It's a good drama, based on real life of the same person. It will be remembered for a long time.

OK, so this was fine, perhaps not as impactful as the original but still loved to see cast members from main series.

FL is smart but she's holding back on her abilities. Concubines makes her life harsh if it wasn't already and not to mention this evil Mother in law is too much to bear.
ML is kind of spineless who can't speak against his own mother's wrongdoings.

This seems like a recipe for disaster, no matter how this drama ends, but this journey of episodes are too much to continue.

So I started watching this and turns out I won't be able to continue. I feel so much negative vibes. I'm putting this one on hold indefinitely until I'm prepared for this.

I feel bad for so many people, starting with our FL, she first wanted to be loyal to Emperor, but was implicated for her favor and in the end banished and neglected. That's when she was comforted by Prince Guo.

He is also unfortunate, he loved FL but couldn't do anything for her, he died not knowing about his children with FL.

FL's dowry maid, Jade - she made mistakes in the past but redeemed herself, she loved Prince Guo and even got married to him, only for him to not return her feelings but also die to protect the FL.

Concubine Ning, She loved Prince Guo , and knew he loved FL and decided to kill herself.

Mei Zhuang - FL's best friend. She longed to be loved by someone who appreciates her intellect rather than other things, and yet she was also implicated and left to be neglected.
In the end she chose not make any efforts.

Last but not the least... Dr wen - this guy proved the definition of selfless love yet again.

There are so many characters I didn't mention but if you watch this drama you'll sure know them.

Emperor has no sense of himself, he is easily manipulated into not trusting his loved ones. When FL was banished, she was at the lowest point of her life, if not for Prince Gao's help, she might not have survived.
So whatever happened to emperor in the end, he fully deserve it for not trusting FL and staying biased towards consort nian and the empress.

Wow, what can I say. Watched this after story of yanxi palace and I'm amazed by the story and it's characters. This has been a some another roller coaster ride. It was worth the time spending on 76 episodes.
It's disappointing that I find this great drama after so many years. I guess my fear of watching 50+ episodes drama caused me to miss so many masterpieces.

Costume, design, visuals, story, OST, everything was mesmerizing.
Acting is top quality.

But that stress is nothing compared to other dramas in the same genre. Here our FL is cunning and gives replies for every scheme with well planned tactics. And this is such a relief throughout the drama.

You probable didn't notice ML's first two wives, they were also forced on him, or should I say he was forced on them (as matrilocal son in law). Yet he started liking them too.

The same way Li Huan's character was introduced and was almost forced on ML too like his other wives but author changed his mind for some reason. Li Huan's father's story was also a mystery they failed to continue on that. Had she was married to ML, I'm sure this would've been explained further.

The love story in this drama kind of felt like romeo - juliet type.. Really don't like how it ended up about Fuheng, he stayed loyal to her, even though he couldn't love her, he helped her in every way till the end. Such kind of love... I have only absolute respect for this person!

I really wanted to see marriage between Hai Lancha and Ming Yu. I feel so bad for Hai Lancha, first his fiancée and then his best friend.

Ming Yu, at first I thought she might be troublesome and Erqing would be nice to be friends with but the drama proved me wrong. I was so surprised to find such change in personalities. How can someone with face like Erqing could become a psycho? And Ming Yu was like FL's kid sister, I really liked her...
So many emotions are erupting. It was one heck of a ride to finish 70 episodes...

My goodness... what a show. A masterpiece in it's own league. My fear of watching such a long drama just blew away and every bit of time spent on this, it was all worth it. When you watch 50+ episode drama, you simply connect with each character. Somebody recommended this drama to me, and I really appreciate them.

I was in awe how would I finish this but the first episode 10 minute was all it took and I was hooked. Wow this rarely happens, it was 50+ episode drama and I could hardly skip any part.

All the characters have outperformed themselves, especially FL, she's giving her 200%. What an actress! The acting, the music, the cinematography, the visuals... everything was flawless! This is by far the BEST drama (in historical category) I have seen in a long time (also the longest one).

If anyone dares to skip this they will regret missing out some of the best story telling in human history.

What a wonderful journey it was from start to finish. The way FL cares for Ming Yu and Empress makes this drama worthwhile...

Since the first season Song Yun Er's character remained a mystery to me. She liked ML but yet in the end (kind of betrayed) lost to her master. I guess they needed to make Liu Ruo Bing the 4th wife.
In the beginning I didn't quite like how Yun er's character remained single, but after giving it some thought, I liked how she said, she would prefer someone whom only she could love, someone not intelligent and popular and not with concubines. I believe this is good for her.

Ending is as good as it can get, they tied all loose ends and everyone around ML got patched up.

What a nice show. I liked comedy parts as well as how ML handles situations and his relationships. It was weird at first then I got used to it. It was a good ride from season 1 to 3. I wish there was season 4 and so on since the story has potential for growth.

Decent show what can I say.
1-12 episodes are hard to watch due to how FL treats ML but after that the difference is like day and night.
Second couple was also lovely to watch. Good chemistry between both leads.
All the support cast did a fabulous job, especially prince ning and FL's cousin brother.

This drama is well worth the time if you can just tolerate the first 12 episodes.

What is going on with Li Huan character? what was that all about, it felt like the story was going towards making her ML's third wife. Everything was ready, the stage was set and so as the bride. Then why author suddenly decided to ruin everything? It's like author changed at that very moment.
Also something is very odd about it. It felt as if the other girl (the one ML doesn't like) was in on this whole setup, and what was that contract on white paper signed by Li Huan which they didn't want to show it to ML? I'm so mad this crucial information is missing. They messed up this sequence badly. It's like they wanted to make it into an arc but suddenly decided to forget this idea. What a waste of time it was.
I was hoping for the wives to initiate ML to accept Li Huan. This is the only disappointment I've from this drama. Such a wasted potential.

Decent drama, it took me by surprise.
Story is nice and all but there's something seriously wrong with execution in the middle part. It's like author is changed. But anyway for what's worth i liked the poems and how they're recited. It's disappointing that i can't understand the language to be mesmerized by the words used.

ML acts too immature sometimes, when Si Li confessed her love to ML, he acted like she gave him some air infection and he's throwing tantrums infront of saintess as she confronted him for it.

Also the least he could do was to give her proper closure. She did helped him at the end. Hope season 2 clears all these things for proper ending.

When I just started watching this I felt ML's performance was not as impactful as it should've been. However throughout the drama he improved drastically but still his acting felt weird to me tbh. Support cast was nice too.

Other characters aside, I really liked the chemistry between saintess guo guo and ML, which is too good to ignore. I was wondering what was missing between ML and FL, it seemed right but at the same time didn't feel right, you know that spark between couples? I see this between ML and saintess.

No offence but FL looks and acts more like ML's younger sister. They're the definition of forced romance, love at first sight over drumstick? If this is not ridiculous then I don't know what is.
While saintess and ML has their proper encounters to back the character development which lead to their continued story.

Anyway, throughout the last couple of episodes, I was getting more and more interested in ML and Saintess's unexpected chemistry. Have to say they look cute together, she's more suited to ML than FL herself.
If ever I'm watching season 2, it's probably to find out how it goes for these two.

I feel bad for Xi Gua, I wish somehow she ended up leaving her crime life and settled with ML. I know what I'm asking but it would still be better than what happened with her. I don't understand the point her marriage with ML at all only for them to be divorced in the next episode.

Or she could've chose to be with Chen which I highly doubt she ever would. Overall I really liked her and Chen's character.
She's still in love with ML no doubt. She had much better chemistry with ML than his own wife.
The way they separated really left an unsatisfying feeling.

Anyway I'm so mad at writers for killing off Guard Geng. WTH? ML even managed to save master qin in the end then why not him? He was the best character and I loved seeing his scenes. I really wanted to know how it would turn out with him and that madam. When you look at the drama, no one important was gone except for him?

The only thing makes sense is that ML's character needed to be more on serious side that's why they need to kill off some of it's close people? But they could've also done this via gravely injuring him instead of just killing the character. Really bad decision! The saddest part is the madam he admired never even knew this guy existed.
