Yesterday I found a video on YouTube of Li Ming and Heart's story and I totally fell in love, so I went straight to watch this series. It's true that I watched this series mainly because of them, but the rest of the couples and characters are very well constructed and their stories and daily problems feel very real. It's not the typical Boys Love where they hold high positions and the characters are wealthy, or where the poor character falls in love with the rich and viceversa, they are all humble people with normal jobs, and that is very refreshing to see in this type of series.
Going back to the side couple, I agree with one of the main reviews that they totally stole the show. Teenage love stories don't usually attract my attention because they tend to bore me, but if it's as well constructed as this one, I'll definitely dedicate my time to watching it. I only know Gemini and Fourth from My Love Mix Up series, that they are recently releasing, but their characters there have nothing to do with this series. The bond between both of them here is so human, it is built in such a special way that I can't help but applaud the performance of these two very young actors.
I find disabled characters very important and necessary nowadays, so this couple will stay in my heart for a long time.
I don't know why I waited 3 years to watch this series... This was wonderful in every aspect. I confess that sometimes (ok, almost always) I'm too reluctant to watch any GMM's Boys Love series because, imo, either the story has a poor plot or it's full of clichés. But this story far exceeded my expectations. From the development and growth of characters, the lessons of life and humility and the beautiful soundtrack (always love listening to Aye singing). This series proves that when GMMTV takes something seriously, they do it for real. And that you don't need to show kisses, nor forced jealousy, nor excessive sexual tension to demonstrate what both protagonists feel for each other. I found myself smiling like an idiot every time they had a cute moment with each other because it was slow paced, genuine, and felt so natural. I would dare to say it's the best slowburn I have seen in a series of this style. Truly heartwarming.
By the way, special mention to Mix. I didnt' know this was his first series, plus portraying a main role, but he absolutely nailed Tian. This is the first time I've seen him acting and he was by far my favorite character. I loved his growth and maturity through the episodes.
This series has left my heart soft. Without a doubt, one of the best BLs I have come across so far. Now I will keep a special place in my heart for it.
Kim Hye Sung is the perfect example of how your greatest charm can also be your greatest weakness. I have read several articles and interviews with this actor where he explains that it is very difficult for him to get new roles due to his appearance. He's tired of always being offered high school student roles. I've seen him acting in some "Unstoppable high kick" episodes and movie trailers and he's honestly a great actor, not just a pretty face. In "Paper flower" trailer he only appears for a couple of minutes and has already won me over. I wish I could find this film with English subs. Anyways, I plan to watch some of his former projects. I don't understand the Asian culture of praising beauty and "youthful looks" and then rejecting high potential actors for this very reason.
I hope Hye Sung can get the recognition he deserves one day. I'm rooting for him.
Very interesting viewpoint. Wish the story wasn't realistic but due to human stupidity, what happened to the boy…
Sadly, and bullying is a common topic amongst asian series, specially on Japanese and Korean ones is a fairly recurring theme, which is not bad if it is done to raise awareness, but in many cases it happens as you say, they tend to blame the victim, or they simply act as if it were not important.
I couldn't finish this series... I dropped it in episode 6 because it was getting messier with every episode. The shoe-horned characters between the protagonists to generate jealousy, the meaningless misunderstandings, and now Prince's ex also getting involved to generate more jealousy. Really? Also, I don't know why, but I don't really like Khuafah. I don't know if it's his personality or Mek's performance, but I find him kind of annoying. It's a pity because the chemistry with Mark wasn't bad, but by the middle of the series I couldn't put myself to enjoy it anymore. I came to watch this series after watching the Thai version of Cherry Magic because I really liked Mark's character there, but I find his chemistry with Junior much more enjoyable.
From my point of view, it seems that in the end Koki dies from the stab wound he received at the beginning of the series, which is why he meets the angel again in the final chapter. In the news that the angel read on his cell phone in one of the episodes, it is written that a student had committed suicide (himself when he was human) and a man had been stabbed (Koki), and that both events had occurred on the same night, at the same time. I interpret it as that they both meet in that space between life and death and learn to give themselves a second chance when perhaps it is too late for them (I mean to apply it in real life). The angel, Takashi, regains his ability to fly once he discovers who he was and how he died, and since that was his mission, he can finally rest in peace. That's why he leaves before Koki. On the other hand, although it may sound ironic and sad, Koki learns to value his life and enjoy the small moments during that short period of time that he spends with the angel. Maybe, after all, it was his destiny to die, that's why in the final episode, he meets with the angel in heaven and he tells him that he "could have waited a little longer." Maybe he didn't survive that stab wound and died shortly after. Or maybe, having problems with the yakuza, they end up killing him in the end. I personally don't think it was suicide, since he had really learned to value and get his life back on track after that "second chance." It's a bit of a sad conclusion, but I think it might make sense for interpreting the final scene which implies that Koki dies a bit too early.
This is a heartbreakingly emotional and realistic series, I thought I was going to see something light with comedy and everyday situations, but I threw in a beautiful story about the meaning of life and how the decisions we make affect us and our environment and I think I won't be able to recover for a while. That's why, in these cases, I like to invent alternative endings. 🥲
Hi! I can answer your questions but this is gonna be a huge spoiler if they ever give us a S2. So it's up to you…
Wow, thanks so much for the clarification! I really needed an explanation about the two of them meeting again in the future. I had my suspicions that Yai was a reincarnation, but the change of scene at the last moment made me doubt it, so thank you very much for confirming it. I really hope that a production of this caliber has a second season, at least I think it deserves it to conclude that hasty ending.
If not, I will settle for them making the special episode available to the international public in which they show Yai's life in the future together with Jom. I think that episode has nothing to do with the continuation of the series finale, but it would be a very refreshing alternative ending.
And don't worry about the spoiler, now I can at least give that specific scene a closer ending. As for Commander Yai's plot, let's hope it doesn't take long for them to confirm a second season, if not, I'll be forced to read the novel because now I want to know more 😂
This is without a doubt the most beautiful and well-made Thai BL series I have ever seen. Every minute detail is done and cared for to perfection: the setting transports you to the era to which Jom travels, both the decorations and the clothing and the way the characters speak and express themselves (I'm still studying Thai, but I could distinguish Thai expressions that are no longer used today, apart from the northern dialect); the characters, another strong point of the series: each of them has a story to tell, they have depth, they have soul. They have everything a well-written character should have. And the performance of everyone in the cast greatly highlights this aspect. Everyone was brilliant. What can I say about the women in this series? Each one of them is fascinating. Their stories are moving and heartbreaking in equal measure. I loved the sisterhood and mutual help they offer each other (especially between Ueang Phueng and Fong Kaew) instead of being the typical female characters written to be love rivals or be jealous of each other, they actually sit down to talk and understand each other's situation to be able to help each other. It was something very nice to see.
The only thing that left me a little bittersweet was the ending. Or rather it left me confused. I still don't understand if Yai traveled to the future to meet Jom again, or if he was the reincarnation of the Yai of the 20s, or if Jom traveled to the past again, since in the final scene while they hug, the place changes around them and you could see the house rebuilt again as in Yai's time. Just like the final post-credits scene... Why does Jom travel back to an even earlier time to meet another version of Yai (The warrior Yai with a mustache and tattoos)? There are a couple of scenes in the series where this version of Yai appears that I didn't understand either (the underwater scene and the one with the ring with the lion's head). Maybe they are only explained in the novel.
For these things I don't like endings that leave you with more doubts than you had. I only hope that this can lead to a second season, because there are several fronts to close and many doubts to clarify. Or at least I hope to see the special episode where Yai lives in the future, in Jom's time and at least I hope it ends well and without cliffhangers... I hope it can be available soon for international fans.
Apart from the strange ending, for me it was a success to have discovered and been able to enjoy this series among the many BL that there are lately in the industry. It's a shame that it hasn't stood out too much (it's not too late yet, it's only been a few months since it finished), because these gems are increasingly difficult to find.
I mean ciize has played a lesbian (or bi I don’t remember) character in waterboyy
Yeah, in Waterboyy they both (Pan and Namkhaeng) end up with a man despite liking each other... Don't know why they decided to do that abruptly, but at least Pan was supposed to be lesbian (said by herself in the series), and she starts liking Fah all of a sudden and with no context. Guess the director was too scared for success...😒
I first saw Namtan's acting in "Who are you" series from 2020, where she also played as twins, and I was impressed by her acting. She's really good portraying oposite personalities. I hope I can see that in this series' twins too! Also, my girl Ciize playing her first GL? I'm totally in for this series! ❤️
I was hoping to see Mond and Aye together again in another series, but they paired Mond and Jamie instead... In the preview they look cute together, so I'll give them a try at least. Gonna miss my MondAye in this series, they're so adorable together🥹
First time seeing Mond in a bad guy role and I'm already loving it in the first episode! He has always played cute/nice characters and has the versatility to play different roles so I'm really excited about this new one for him. Too bad it's only 6 episodes but it's gonna be worth it.
i complete recalled that nut is term's cousin, not sibling. capt. key mentioned term his brother-in-law in the…
In the past episode 10 May says to Saras that 'she killed lieutenant's sister and she must break contact with him', so I think Nut was her sister, although is a bit confusing because in episode 3 Term says that he's 'a relative of Nut' as if they were distant relatives?
Why is there a "Lesbian romance" tag? I've only seen the first 3 or 4 episodes but Metawee and Jin only seem to be office friends... Can someone make me a spoiler on if there's romance between them? I'm planning to continue watching but I need to know now 😅
His little dance when Sara was leaving is everything 🤭🤭
I'm starting to do it now, yeah. Mond and Aye have really good chemistry on screen. I just fear that their characters have a bad ending, knowing the plot of the series...
Ep 3 was good! Now I'm excited for Aye and Mond's story👀 (FINALLY I'M GETTING AYE x MOND after Boy for rent!)
They were adorable in 'Khun Mae Mafia' too! Their chemistry is no joke, and Mond's character was such a dork there , really cute ❤️ Sadly when I watched it didn't have subs, but maybe there are subs in some page now 👀
Ahhh, lieutenant Term is so cute... His personality doesn't match in this series full of fake people and liars. He must be protected! (Mond always shining in every role, I love him so much <3)
