So sad for Xuan Hui. He could’ve ascended as a dragon but his heart was worried for his mortal friend. The sect leader is creating chaos so that he has a valid reason to bring his men to Chang’an and slay the demons. He was also seen slaying and absorbing demon cores to enhance his cultivation. His plan was to kill Zhu Yu in the array with the birds, it was him in the hood throwing evil magic in. The other guy was helping him and even gave his horse. I guess he was saving ZY. Especially it seem to be about the sect when he said “a place of spiritual cultivation shouldn’t be tainted by acts that endanger lives”

Yeh and you’d think that Shu would learn from Pei Ji Ya, that attacking ML and throwing a tantrum is not going to help
