Oh I was actually thinking that you were older for some reason. I'm 25.
But yeah, I watched "The Foreign Duck, The Native Duck and God in the Coin Locker" today. It's by the same person who did Fish Story. It's great! Fish Story is a little better, but that one was really good too. They both have really unique ways of telling their stories.
My suggestions to you are
Love Shuffle
Go
The Foreign Duck, The Native Duck and God in the Coin Locker

Yea, Mikako Tabe is really cute. So Is Takahashi Mai, the girl who predicted the future.
Yes I'm a guy. I've seen My Rainy Days. I felt the same way you did. It's not perfect at all, but I loved it. I think I gave it an 8/10. And yes Nozomi Sasaki get's to me every time. She was my Facebook cover photo for a while. I'll post a couple of pics from that move on my profile that i liked.
I'll put Waterboys on my PTW list, but it will probably be a while until I watch it.
Just finished Fish Story. I loved it! I loved how easy it is to watch and the whole idea of how one thing lead to another in order to save the world. I love the song too. I was glad every time it came on. It was great!

They have finished subbing the whole series. I just finished the last ep. I gave it a 9. It was good. Not my favorite melodrama, but it was good. Now I need something happy to watch lol. That was a little heavy. And yeah, I'll check out Fish Story.

Yeah I seen that, but I didn't know it was written by the same person who wrote Mother. I'm looking forward to it. I haven't actually seen Mother, but I've heard good things about it. I have it downloaded on my pc so I'll probably watch it pretty soon.
I'm watching Tsumi to Batsu: A Falsified Romance right now. So far it's pretty good. I decided to watch it because I really liked Kora Kengo in the movie Into The White Night, and I really liked Hashimoto Ai in Confessions, and the lovely Mizukawa Asami and of course the story itself.
Hey, did I ever suggest Boku to Star no 99 nichii to you? It's a Jdrama that has a Korean actress as the lead. I loved it! and I think you would like it too. It's kind of a mix between K and J drama. It's not epic or anything, but it's a nice little watch.

Watched another great movie last night. It was a Taiwanese one called "Starry Starry Night." It's a 10 in my opinion. Although, I have been a little generous with my 10's lately. Anyway, It's a really sweet story, with great young actors and the cinematography is brilliant.
Oh and you should definitely watch "Go" when you get a chance. I'm a really big fan of Kubozuka Yousuke.

I'm glad you liked it. You didn't think it was cliche did you?
Asian dramas period aren't usually great for kiss scenes, but as far as "flat characters" go, you've totally missed it on Jdramas. Jdrama characters are often very deep, even the funny ones. I love the slice of life deepness of Jdramas.
But it all depends on what you watch drama for. You, like many people, are looking for romance. I on the other hand just love any good show despite the genre. I also love the style, language, culture and mannerisms of Jdrama a lot more than Kdrama, but that's all personal opinion. Would I be happier to see more romance and better kisses in Jdrama? Yes, but that's not the only thing I'm interested in. In the end it's all about what you are looking for in a show.
And the reasons you've listed here aren't the only reason you see more Kdrama on the net. Korea is pushing their stuff all over the world, but Japan is being stingy and isolated.
