I’m watching less and less Cdramas now. The creativity has really suffered due to government bans and censorship. I like the lead actor in this one, however the storyline seems like it would be a perfect way for them to inject government propaganda. Which is another thing I’ve been seeing alot in Cdramas. Even dramas that are romantic are interjecting government propaganda. No thanks. I will stick to Jdramas, Tdramas, and Kdramas. They are creative and critical thinking is still allowed.
I refuse to watch Chinese BLs that are turned into bromances. I wont support it. It changes the narrative and is an insult. I would rather just watch a Taiwanese or Japanese one instead. But I WILL read the Chinese BL book.
This is not good “news“ to me! I have banned Disney from my life in the past year after some many questionable moral and ethnic policies, strategies, and decisions the Disney company has made. I have been very outspoken about the Mulan movie in particular and the concessions that Disney made to the government of China. This is not the Chinese people. But the government of China. Knowingly Disney thanked government officials where they filmed some of Mulan. These were the same government officials of the city that has known concentration camps. Disney has also made so many concessions to the Chinese government in censorship. I can tell right now, that anything that Disney produces, even if it’s Korean, is going to have censorship because they want to be able to market it in China as well. I wish that the rest of the world would leave South Korea alone and our beloved kdramas alone. The uniqueness and culture of South Korea is being horribly influenced by not only the western world but by China. They are ruining the very thing I fell in love with :(
How are endings typically in these type of stories? Happy, tragic, sad? I noticed the Wuxia world is a mixed bag. I like my fantasy to end with the standard “happy ending”.
I can’t wait to watch this when it comes to a streaming service I already subscribe to! I can’t justify the $20 rental fee right now, even though I know it will be good! I did that when “Parasite” came out and it ended up coming to Hulu two months later. Made me so upset!
Once last post...I also just saw this on a Thai drama. It was a white though. But the girl literally stopped in the road to pick up something she dropped. C’mon!!!!! Really?!?
If I have to see ONE MORE idiot stop in the middle of a crosswalk....I will literally go through the screen! Like, greet the person once you safely cross! Why are you stopping?? Never distract a person crossing the street, THAT is the lesson here.
Speaking of bullying, there’s someone that keeps hijacking peoples posts with their own long-winded replies. So I am re-posting this without them hijacking it hopefully.
UPDATE: After reading about his apology today, I am disappointed to find out the allegations were true. As with all of these cases I’m always willing to give the person the benefit of the doubt and not convict them as guilty until it’s proven. I think that cancel culture is still dangerous because it doesn’t give a person a chance to redeem themselves and to be forgiven if they are truly sorry. I think trying to erase anybody from history, or from media in this case, is a mistake. Even the infamous leader in Germany during World War II wasn’t erased from history. We can only learn from our mistakes and actions of others. If we erase everything what do we have to learn from?
Wonho never harrassed anyone. Don't compare him to these people.
The comparison I was was using was peoples rash judgments and saying a person is guilty until proven innocent. In Wonhos case everybody was quick to believe what the accuser said before there were any actual facts and proof. But by then it was too late and he was already canceled. I did not say anything about him being a bully. Read the whole paragraph before posting your comment.
We call it here the white truck of doom. Or truck of doom, for short. It’s about time justice is done!
