So far, one of the best weekend family drama in a long time. I hope they keep up with this path, because writers…
Yes, it is the best since and Marry Me Now (2018) - very popular domestically and Revolutionary Sisters (2021) - not all that well liked on MDL. I think if it was going to wobble, it would have done so by now. Fingers crossed!
Although I found the first couple of episodes up and down, the acting was superb (and continues to be). Ep 6 is a real game changer and was very enjoyable as we get to see the start of a great business partnership.
Ep 23 - what I really liked about this episode is the positive tone despite the things that go wrong and that’s due to Gwang Sook upbeat attitude, the Chairman’s support, and Min Soon’s faith in Chun Soo.
As for the Zumba couple - I have high hopes for them 😉 They are harmless.
There is some very good acting in this show, thanks to the great cast - they know how to hit the sweet spot. Show deserves the support it is receiving.
Eps 17 & 18 were superb. Uhm Ji Won totally owns this show, a great performance from her so far. Her mum is a real scream in this. The LX Chairman is also a great foil to CEO Ma. The baby, Ha Ni is a real treasure. As much as the Silla Brewery chairman is a grumpy, shouty, devious character, it’s a good fun role and he is going to make a great grandfather 🤣 I like the professor’s evolving relationship. It was also good to see Cheon Soo hang in there. I don’t mind the Zumba couple. We need to see more of the youngest couple.
Ep 10 - I thought this episode was exceptional. Each circumstance was nicely played out. There was no drawn out, angsty rubbish. Even when the Chairwoman was at her most venomous, home truths won the day. Chief Kwon is awesome as the MVP. Class and dignity throughout. Fingers crossed for the second couple. Now the scene is set for what should be two final terrific episodes.
Sean, for me, it was "Made in China?!?!?!"I just wish they had tweaked the scene slightly....once they all cleared…
Yes, I chortled at that too. I look forward to when she finally breaks him down and he bursts out laughing - I can see them both relishing the ridiculousness of it all 😊
8.1 is low . How do you guys like the show? Or do we have haters with an assignment here .
Show is very good. Has stayed true to form for the first 16 episodes, whereas other similar dramas have started to nosedive by now. It’s 9.5 for me right now 🤩
I thought the first episode was very watchable, was good fun and set the scene quite nicely. It’s a smooth production so far with a good cast. So, I think it has potential 🤩
I agree wholeheartedly - I just hope they maintain this quality until the end.
@MRS_sippi - yes, I’m hopeful they do maintain the quality until the end. Li Xian’s involvement generally means it has a good chance. So many recent shows have fallen away in their second half or last third.
At the end of six episodes, from my perspective, this is the best costume drama since The Story of Minglan. Hopefully, it continues to be this good. The attention to detail, the acting, the costuming, makeup and the sets are stunning.
What an absolute delight the first two episodes have been so far.The fun moments, and there are many, balance out some of the more serious happenings.
Plus we are getting to see good insights on the making of brocade.
Ying Ying is delightful - very smart and clever and cheeky at the same time. Seven Tan’s trade mark mischievousness really shines through. The male leads are really well suited. I think her brother is great and the mum is fabulous.

I am looking forward to the fun ride ahead.
