She had great hairstyles and costumes in Royal Rumors and after back to back Ming/Han dynasty open hair stylings she definitely needs a change.

This is a high budget show so i hope they go all out with the costumes.

ETA : just read the first chapter of the novel and seems like the novel’s setting is in the Three Kingdoms era, so same as The Princess Gambit……

I hope there’s stark differences in styling because a lot of people have complained about how it’s hard to tell apart her characters from different dramas and i hate to say it but i agree.

This is definitely Meng Ziyi’s drama , it’s atleast 95% confirmed that she’s on board.

And she is most likely going to film this January-February 2026, because she’s set to film Tigers sniff the rose for five months starting August 31st.

This is what happens when you turn a female centric plot into a male centric narrative.

They completely whitewashed Shen Zaiye’s character but still kept TaoHua’s suspicions and her unwillingness to trust him in the drama plot, it doesn’t make as much sense here because he’s been relatively good to her till this point.

In the novel atleast her inability to trust him made sense because he literally poisoned her and left her to die , like he actually attempted murder.

So then her resentment made sense but here it just doesn’t work in this narrative where Shen Zaiye has literally been the only somewhat kind and helpful person towards her, her rejection is seemingly overblown.

Never touching anything with this writer and director again with a ten feet pole .

You need to drop this drama fr , i have only ever seen you complain about it , there’s probably better things you can waste your time on

What have they done to Mu Wuyin ???? That man actually loved Taohua in the novel , probably would’ve had an actual happy life if they ended together typa story line but now he’s this unhinged lunatic.

I didn’t expect to dislike the adaptation this much, the novel wasn’t anything great but this is just a cheap money grab adaptation.

They made great characters like Consort Lan into an NPC , completely cut out important and interesting characters like Gu Huairo ,Qian Baimei , Xu Yangui .

Just to give us what ??? This stupid little sister for the mary sue 4th prince, who, without doing anything is gonna be the winner in the end ?? I hate how much time they spend each episode showing us this sister and the 4th prince, like idgaf about these two juveniles .

Now this amnesia arc…..please spare us the cliches or if you’re just out of ideas than you literally have the novel for reference, atleast the novel author was doing things interestingly .

Like i would rather watch them try to kill each other for the next 20 episodes than take this stupid amnesia arc ( idc if she’s just pretending, it’s still cheap and unoriginal af) .

Lxy is a fantastic actor but idk why he’s not hitting it off big, he’s had three dramas this year and none of them did anything amazing .
It’s starting to feel like he’s just saying ok to every single script he’s given.
Or maybe his agency is milking him out as much as they can.

Idk i don’t think this drama is doing good in numbers either, the views are quite low.

And LXY is currently shooting another drama that’s not looking any different from his other dramas.

I think Meng Ziyi will be fine because she’s just had a lifetime hit with Blossom and now she’s gonna do another drama with her Blossom male lead, and given how popular their cp is , that’s a guaranteed hit .

Plus she also does many variety shows thus always in public eyes , so i don’t think this drama doing bad is gonna do her much harm

But LXY needs to start making changes in his script evaluation.

I can’t blame either of the actors for whatever tf is going on with this drama.

Those complaining and creating issues about Jeremy and the ones angry about Shen Xihe and Gu Qingzhi are completely different groups of people.

Behind the scenes the cast seems to be having amazing time shooting together as they all get along well and the cast is big with a lot of well known actors so i believe fan wars are bound to happen whether you like it or not.

But where did the spoilers come from?? Because in the novel the 3rd prince loves Taohua and she even becomes his concubine

I really really hope they start promoting this drama soon.

The success of a drama heavily depends on promotions before and when the drama airs, a lot of production teams rely heavily on reuters to excite audiences.

But somehow this team did nothing prior to the airing or even while it’s airing rn.

For the sake of both actors, i hope this drama does well .

This might be the best both of them have looked on screen.

Meng Ziyi’s makeup is amazing in this , she looks straight out of an historical Chinese painting.

Just saw reuters of them kissing while riding on the horse …. Oh my my, so excited for this drama.

Well she’s been slammed online for having surreal features and even called “plastic surgery monster” before, crazy how much hate she used to get.

But if you look at her mom’s pictures, they have the same eyes and identical nose .

She even bought her Mom on a show with her.

Ik people get crazy surgeries to meet these insane beauty standards but we need to remember that these standards exist because some people actually do have these features naturally and others get cosmetic surgeries to look like them.

Her eyes have always been huge like this tho, even in her childhood pics and she has the exact same eyes as her mom.

Even in her older dramas, like Evernight, which came out before The Untamed , she went viral for her big eyes.

Some people are blessed with good features not everything is surgery .

The lip fillers i can agree on.

Idk about fillers but her lips look normal in neutral lip colours, bright red lipstick doesn’t look flattering on her

Genuinely don’t understand why her glam team slaps that same red lipstick on her 365 days , a little change once in a while is good and lighter colours would flatter her more

She’s so pretty and has amazing features , i just think the bright red lips are distracting in a bad way

But that’s also an issue i have with most c-actresses, unflattering red matte lips , as if the same lipstick is been passed around in Hengdian

I think the drama is doing great !!! Hope the momentum continues because this is just the starting and the plot definitely gets crazier and better.
