Deng Wei’s character is a scary villain in the anime and appears in only a few episodes. However, in this drama he is the second ML so I guess his character may have changed and not be the same as in the anime.

You can watch a few episodes of each drama and decide it by yourself because everyone has different taste and interest. I personally prefer Coroner’s Diary which is one of the dramas I enjoyed watching the most in 2 years. I dropped the other one just after 1 episode.

The first and that cases made me scary too but after that the beautiful winter scenery in the next case calmed me down and I started enjoy watching the drama since then, The second half of the story is not too scary, especially the final case relating to both leads is out of expectation and amazing.
