I think when it comes to independent dramas like Japanese BLs, you get less of that anime feel and more "normal acting" and normal hair! But my favourite Jdrama has to be An Incurable Case of Love where they just do it so well. It's adorable and the FL grows as a person really well. When I first watched it I hated the first few episodes because it was so cliche and tropey but they won me over as it was well grounded and I have now watched it a billion times.

Yeah omg its the cutest. I loved it so much I have watched it several times and hunted down each volume of the manga.

Wasn't that much of an open ending though as he re-wrote what happened on the paper and managed to tell his friend his feelings and you could tell his friend felt that way about him too. Anyway the strongberry CEO said it was Dongho entering the bookshop at the end. The actor (Whom I will forever call Milk) was even on set to open the door but the director made a creative choice not to show him.

There were literally only two actors and one actress in this story the whole time.... the synopsis pretty much gives the game away.

I may have missed it but why did Phop kill Nont? It was after he somehow got his laptop but before he found out the clip from Nuth. Do we know his motivation?

OMG this was amazing! I am guessing because of just 6 episode they were able to spend a lot more where it mattered. Very high quality production and great casting. Wish there were more but then I think it would have been a bit more watered down and not as effective. Looks like they left it open for another season as there is still so much they could tell and uncover.
This isn't an original story by any means. It's a tale as old as time when it comes to dystopian world building but it was fun and nicely done with a fun comedy element. All the character were lovely people and you could understand all the motivations of those that were featured. I love that the two main leads ended up trying to win for reasons other than getting the man. To me it wasn't about the romantic element at all, the romance was a side character and premise to what each character was struggling with in their backstories. I think the biggest theme was freedom of choice and the true meaning of friendship. This was a heart warming watch and feel good drama.

Edit: yes as with most Thai and Korean dramas with a comedic element, I find the FL character are often over the top in the beginning before they mellow out. So stick past the first two episodes and you should find she mellows out a lot more. Deffo less screaming.

The first couple was a bit abrasive but she calms down as they usually do a few eps in.

I just started watching and caught up to 12 so missed all the ongoing commentary... but 1.) what is with the Rich undies and clothes? Is it a real brand? How is everyone wearing exactly the same thing? I mean I get that they most likely have cups and padding in there to protect the actors but they could build that into different designs? 2.) Biggest peeve is the wardrobe. The styling is awful! I think First and Puen may have semi decent clothes sometimes but the others .... I've seen lots of dramas with high and low budgets and I don't recall seeing anything quite as distracting, ill fitting and strange for these supposedly rich people at an elite college especially.

I had the same feelings with Charlie's acting. It's like night and day between the two. He wasn't atrocious but still 'green' I would say. When Babe looked at Charlie you can see and tell he loves him but I didn't get the same feeling the other way around.
Also, I am not sure if its the script that was poor or the English translations I read that sometimes didn't make sense so perhaps some of it is lost in translation.
I also feel like some things needed more time to explain and it was a bit rushed in that regard. Especially in the final episode with the emotional aspects.

I swear I just saw it advertised on Netflix UK over the weekend still and its not finished airing yet and now its nowhere to be seen! Any news I missed?

Kagami Meguru's house looks like that same house from A Man who defies the world of BL. In fact is very likely is since the same director.

The story explained both their characters and their regrets after they reunited 10 years later and worked through their own personal problems to find meaning in life again in the face of death. It's not a basic story and apart from the beginning, there was no more sex until the last episode. This wasn't even that much of a love story as it was 4 people figuring out who they are and what they wanted from life when they have a deadline and forgiving themselves and finding hope.

If you want stories about written by LGBT people then watch LGBTQ+ movies and dramas. Yaoi has never been very realistic in terms of representation and the issues of being LGBTQ+ though it has come leaps and bounds in recent times. If you keep watching them and getting angry, maybe don't watch BL. Watch all the other LGBTQ+ dramas. Gagaoolala has a whole section just for that. Besides, this wasn't very yaoi and did a good job with the character development despite its short length add the whole fantasy/ mysticism element and ... well never mind, you didn't give it a chance to develop but if its not your thing its not your thing.

No I couldn't bring myself to get past ep 7/8 from what I saw so far.

This was a bit on the artistic side, maybe too much just to end on an obvious note. The music is nice but sometimes too over powering. By the end, this gave me Toothless and Hiccup vibes. I like that there was no romance storyline anywhere and I think Gaku is probably on the spectrum but they never said it outright. It's different to what I usually watch, it just felt a little drawn out and convoluted at times but I get what they were trying to say.

BTW, I enjoy BL as much as the next person but this is not it. Never got any vibes from either and their relationship was very much master and trainee until they became each other's peers. This story is about building camaraderie that not one character ever crossed that line into romantic love territory even the females. I still wish Vincenzo didn't pull that stunt in its last episode and just left it as mutual respect.

OMG Same! Noticed that too. I am a first aider and the fact they sent busy hospital surgeons off-site to do emergency response instead of trained paramedics with the appropriate gear! Also when the firefighters knock on the door and wait for it to be opened and then have a staring competition before actually going to save the kid they were there for as if they could wait all those minutes. Also walking into a doctors room to get treated like there is no process to follow or queue. And yes those fire fighter scenes were pretty cool but I also cringed at how none of it makes logical sense. I can usually look past a lot of things in these dramas but I am finding it a bit too much coupled with the FL character so far (I am not really a fan of characters whose entire personality and lives revolve around a man) so I am really on the fence. Its 40 episodes...

Oh I see. He hasn't done too much in the early episodes yet so I haven't yet seen what makes him a fan favourite character. At least in the first 7 episodes I have seen so far I feel this show is a bit messy. Not sure if I can stomach continuing in hopes it gets better or I should drop it.

I just started this and finished episode 7 so far. I actually agree with some of the comments about Vin being more charismatic than YY and wondered why his credit is so far down in MDL cast list and YY acting is not great especially when he is in scenes with Vin. The firefighting scenes are also quite unrealistic but ok, it looks cool. I am really struggling with the character of the FL. I would have hoped that after the first time, she would have tried harder to get some independence from her family so when she finally faced him again she could sincerely apologise for the past and strongly hold on the the relationship. Am I hoping for too much? Not sure if I can bare to continue. He was so hurt and all of a sudden her randomly decides that he will meet her for tea? They haven't even had a real talk about their past yet. All these years she has treated people badly and has no friends because she was heartbroken?! Common. Someone please make it make sense.
