Girls the mother-son relationship is so toxic! How can she ask him to choose between her and his ambitions???!…
I perceived that conversation in a completely different way! She wasn't making him choose her or baseball at all! She was making him face that fact that he wants to be home with his mother and not with his father. All the conversations and actions he took leading to that conversation was very clear in what he really wanted. She was helping him come home. She knew he wasn't happy and missed her, but was too stubborn for his love of her to say what he really wanted. An 8 year old child wants their mother in their life. I don't know any 8 year old who has so great of an ambition to work that they choose to leave their loving parents? Ambition comes later with maturity and stability. I am pretty sure since they knew each other so well, he would have known he wasn't really giving up his dreams anyway. She wasn't that kind of mother. His mom was just opening a door that he wanted to get back to her. She didn't ever stop him going into baseball as you can see from the last scene when he became a successful baseball player. Not every conversation should be taken at face value.

I just wanted to say that I was taken aback by some of the comments here that the ML was not good looking and…
He hasn't got the standard idol looks that young people look for as they lack experience in life and are thus still somewhat superficial in preferences. That will change for most eventually as they mature. He is not ugly by any means. What we have here is a real looking man. I like the realness in his appearance and his manly charm and charisma. It was a good casting for this role.

Title When the Camellia Blooms Spoiler
I had this on my list for a long time because I thought it was something else. I am so glad I finally said just do it to find a story I was not expecting at all. I thought this was some romance drama (I mean the titles of the show gives off melodrama romance vibes as did the trailers I saw). I did not expect the comedy/crime mystery element at all! This was totally my bag.

It was pretty obvious who the culprit was from the beginning and who the victim was in the opening, which made all the red herrings they threw in a little redundant and thus annoying, but the journey was nice. They did it well. It kinda slowed down in the last quarter for all the emotional and character growth stuff but otherwise it kept true to itself and all characters including supporting, had great development arcs. I think this is what makes this drama stand out. It is not the whole crime mystery element but the relationships and growth of all the supporting casts as well which they balanced nicely. This gave me Strong Woman Bongsoo vibes in that they mixed the light hearted comedy with a dark crime element and I have seen that drama countless number of times. I now want to watch Strong Woman again lol.

I found the first half slightly difficult to watch because I really dislike when Gong Hyo Jin plays these types of nervous pitiful characters when I find her whole being doesn't give off that vibe. Some actresses can pull off nervous and pitiful well, but she feel disingenuous every time she tries to play it that way. It feels like someone put handcuffs/ restraints around her when her personality just wants to be unleashed. It makes me feel a little uncomfortable for the actress thus I am unconvinced by the character for the time she had to play it that way. I was glad when it was finally time for her to change and then I could enjoy the show more.

One thing I don't recall ever seeing though is if the FL ever found out her real name or her real birthday? I thought she was given the name Dongbek as an alias and it wasn't her actual name? That part confused me.

I don't know how I made it to ep 12. I don't usually drop dramas but the FL is soooo awful not even Daddi could save it. It wasn't her acting as much as it was how they portayed females. The story was all over the place. At first I thought this was going to be nice because she seemed educated, strong and independent and stood her ground. But then it all flipped the next episode and she decided to give chase even thought he gave no green lights and then just continued to force herself into his life. I mean, the whole show was just taking shortcuts with no real development and the ML was just a straight face all the time. The only time we get a glimpse of him is in the bonus scenes but then it's pointless. I really wanted to like this. Half way through ep 12 I thought of continuing because of Daddi Tang, but then when I saw the FL again being ridiculous as a woman, I could not waste more time on it.

My main issue with the message of this show is that it seems to isolate bl dramas as being toxic. Its not anything…
This is semi autobiographical though... based on true story... so why wouldn't it focus on BL dramas and what goes on behind the scene since this is what happened?

Yu Tu is the only one among his roles i appreciate. The others are only a copy of themseleves, robotic, emotionless,…
Exactly. It’s great to see. I knew he had it in him but no one was making use of it. His subtle emotions against this cinematography and direction just speak volumes to what is trying to be portrayed in each scene.

This is a common thread statement for many people watching this drama. The color palette, texture, cinematography…
Yes. Probably why I like it so much. It’s mature e-sport romance drama. I feel satisfied. Real mature decisions, problems and problem solving.

Finished ep 13. I am so happy to see Yang Yang in a drama where he has to deal with some real emotional baggage. His acting chops is finally being flexed unlike certain other dramas where he is the perfect stoic untouchable ML. Still early days but looks good so far.

I'm still on ep 17 but I need to rant about something: Why does Yi Yi beatsYi Xuan all the time???? Jesus that's…
Lets not forget that they took nude photos of that girl and threatened her with it.... nothing seemed to have been accounted for with that either.

Title Gank Your Heart Spoiler
I was looking for another gaming drama to fill in the time waiting for Falling into Your Smile but geez... I think…
I also have this unpopular opinion that out of all the e-sports drama's I have watched, this was the most disappointing. I particularly have misgivings about the FL's and how the story handled the romance and treated women. A lot of plot points were too obvious to move the story and didn't blend in well imo. The strength was the relationships between the gaming teams and how each character developed. I wish the ML and FL had as much development and growth as everyone else, otherwise their characters pretty much did a rinse and repeat the whole time without getting smarter, but this is the Chinese way of treating their male and female leads because they can do no wrong and must remain pristine and infallible. The ML as in most CDramas is untouchable and has to be perfect so that was expected he wouldn't have much growth as he pretty much stood by his own principles throughout the whole thing. He didn't even once have to deal with his own romantic problems. He just waited for everyone around him to sort it out. lol

I still don't understand why she HAD to be an e-sports commentator of all the types of commentator she could have tried? She had no interest in it and the show made it seem like it was the only field that one could be a commentator! LOL. Sure, later she grew to like it because she studied hard and her boyfriend is a gamer... but really, it would have been less irritating if she had some links to e-sports in the beginning rather than choosing it randomly.
The show tried to make her naive and innocent in the first few episodes but really, everything the lead said about her is true. She really was trying all kinds of things and passing it off as misunderstandings.... just to move the plot along? Thankfully the later episodes were more enjoyable once the romance aspect cooled off and the e-sports kicked in.

I was also missing all the in game battle scenes that most e-sports dramas tend to put in. This really did as minimal as they could. Given the lack of it though, they still managed to build the suspense, but it could have been enhanced with a few more CGI scenes since it is an e-sports drama.

I wish they spend less time with the repeated attempts to get him kicked out of the team and more time on him forming a team but over all that was minor as all the actors did so well. The biggest sticking point was that he always put his career on the line every time a team mate challenges him. "If we loose the next game I will leave the team" - then team mate plays poorly so he looses the game and has to leave. I found that the most idiotic plot point to move the story along.

Maybe my expectations were too high because of all the reviews but then again most people seem to like it because Wang Yibo is in it. Each to their own.

On Be Loved in House Special Aug 5, 2021
Well this just left me wanting a story between him and the ex now since they were a lot more steamier and seem to have a more interesting story (potentially). But we got some sweet skinship with Shi Lei I guess. This ep seems more of a left over scenes more than anything. There were no new information that the show didn't already expose in the series.

Aaron making out with two guys in a drama! Woah.
