I never expected this story to be as deep as it is and this light and fluffy at the same time. I like shows like this that are light enough to enjoy as it is but if you want to delve further and dissect character motivations, there are plenty of layers to it to do so and it still makes sense.
I don't think SH was the one who leaked it -- no matter what I don't believe she could be as low as to hurt the…
On the other hand, she is the type of person who would release an incriminating picture in order to force Daon to deny he is gay or like TK thereby blocking any possibility of TK and Daon even having a friendship while then coming to the rescue to pretend she is the girlfriend and that they are dating thereby rescuing Daon's reputation even if it breaks his heart.
First off, I don't care what anyone says, Namgoong is by far the BEST character of this entire series. There's…
Its been quite clear that Tk and Shin Woo are the end game and the main couple. Daon and TK haven't even started and its already taking a dive. Daon's character is a story device used to spur SW into action and to admit his feelings for TK earlier than he would without such a character. In the meantime we can enjoy a nice character unfoldment with Daon as well as he grapples with societal expectations and we can see what it could be like for someone to be exposed when they aren't ready or even certain if they are gay or not. So many layers.
Why is everyone on this board so certain that Da On is gay? I've never gotten that vibe from him. I always thought…
His conversation with Shin Woo made it quite clear that his likes TK more than he should and TK "stirs him up". He didn't realise he was "like that" so right now he is questioning himself and what his feelings mean for him and for his relationship with TK. He himself doesn't realise he likes TK romantically. He is probably telling himself he is just a friend he cares a lot more for than anyone else... but now we see that his starting to question what he feels because he feels something, but we don't know how far that something goes yet. He is true to character though. He is a very reserved and cautions person so he is exploring everything slowly and not letting down his guard and having any frank conversations.
At long last: Daon exposed as the spineless, plastic, conformist cyborg he is!Shin Woo makes my heart ache. No,…
"TK is like an automaton with a keen nose for bullshit. Love him." best description ever! It's so true and I love him for it because although he comes across naïve, it is not the type of naïve that will allow him to be anyone's doormat or allow anyone to take advantage of him. He exudes silent strength.
However, I do like the unfolding of the mystery around Daon. We have a person who just realised he is probably gay. He was probably hiding it behind his people pleaser façade because he felt something was different about him and didn't want to be caught, but also wanted to be socially accepted. This is juxtaposed against TK because he doesn't give a damn about what anyone thinks of him and will do whatever his heart desires without guilt or worry about being socially accepted. TK's character in this regard is a catalyst that allows us to question why we need social acceptance so bad when it makes us unhappy and makes us want to hide who we want to be. The last episode explored this nicely with the whole "playing games" conversation. "Is it that annoying if I like what I like and you like what you like? In that case, I will continue to be annoying but you go enjoy being you while I enjoy being me". TK is a blank slate untouched by society that serves as a tool to help us explore the different ways people around him deal with who they are. His personality type exposes all the flaws and struggles that people put themselves through as what they have is invisible societal chains tied to them that influence their actions and motivations as we see with Daon and ShinWoo.
Shinwoo has already come to terms with who he is and has been through the struggles and bullying and now his courage and strength will shine through in order to get what he wants. Daon is at the beginning of his struggles and will struggle the most with being criticized and exposed when he is not ready. He will totally hurt TK in order to protect himself but that opens the door for Shinwoo and TK's relationship to develop and strengthen. He is a sympathetic character though, unlike So Hee, who is just an immature child and a plot device to push the storyline forward.
So.... Wayne is making a lot of guest appearances here and there... and this isn't a HiStory series.... so what is the connection? Same writers? Production company? I mean, What was Wayne alluding to about the High School swimming? Because if it is the same universe, Aaron already was in HiStory 1 and I don't think he was a swimmer there. I know this character is afraid of water but used to swim if I remember correctly....
Anyway, so far it has gone as predicted - including that whole ex boyfriend showing up. I figured he turned up to help him get over whatever trauma he had from the past. I guess we will learn that next week? I like this show although I know people are complaining a lot about it. It's not bad. Its not a masterpiece but I don't think it was ever meant to be.
I think this is the first drama I have seen where the FL cook has a pretty bad work ethic. I really don't understand how she was able to rock up to work an hour later than everyone else and then leave early. I really don't blame her for being hated by the kitchen staff. She didn't even try to build or mend relationships. I am still unclear whether her cooking was that good since only the ML seemed to love it so much. Not even the grandpa seemed to have tried her cooking? They kind of forgot about the grandpa at the end too and all her cook friends from the market.
It's a fun imperfect light hearted show though but don't expect too much. The FL grows on you since her personality becomes more toned down and the focus is on the romance more than the characters, and as typical of these types of genres, the strong independent woman becomes tamed by the rich man and stupid particularly when the whole brother saga happened. Did she suddenly forget how good she was at emotional manipulation herself to not see through any of his acts?? It's almost like they got a new set of writers/ directors for the ending.
Good start and middle, unnecessary ending drama, nice finish.
This episode did nothing but just pisst me off. I was okay with the slow burn in the beginning, but now it’s…
This is one things that irks me a little if I pay attention to it and that is the straight couple were apparently close to getting engaged and yet they gave up immediately as soon as that rule came in and I really didn't understand the drama between then that separated them for a while. It's so minor and stupid that I gladly forget that they are a couple or were even a thing.
I am on episode 8 but I think I will stop watching until all episodes are out because I sense angst. I want to…
imo this is too light and fluffy to have any real level of angst plus the series is too short to develop any deep angsty situations. The previews always make it look worse than it is.
finished this in a week, but not because I was hooked. pros: - the acting: wow. the whole cast did an AMAZING…
LOL we must have watched a different show coz I felt it was the exact opposite. The romance was flat and unnecessary and his budding relationships with the tenants kept growing and evolving until their bonds grew into familial like bonds. He became very invested in their welfare and safety and protection and allowed them into his inner circle enough to allow hugs and his relationship with Ignahzio was the best of the all, even gaining loyalty there. He even had mercy and bro feels for the silly younger brother and their bond and trust grew quite nicely too. His humanity shone through by his forgiveness of his mother and betrayals of his closest allies. Ultimately it was a nice platform to juxtapose two different ways to build relationships and trust by two pretty bad people because they both were actually pretty ruthless. How can you be evil but gain respect through strong principles and mercy over building it with fear and threatening people/ killing people to gain compliance. Which method of relationship building garnered success over failure and had less chances of betrayal.... Also greed and desire vs common community driven goals.
I must be the only one struggling to even start this. Got recommended as it was so good and I'm struggling...…
I didn't start watching for any particular actor/ actress. I also put it off a long time until I saw it was a dramedy and it was such a fun ride! I mean the romance fell flat, but that won't be the reason you watch this as its not a romance story anyway and the rest of the story was a trip. One crazy ride.
Very surprised to see many people not liking this drama. But this was a good show for me. I got hooked into this…
Me too. I just finished it and thought it was a trip! I only started watching it because Netflix listed it as a dramedy and as such it really was a fun crazy ride and I did not expect any more or less. I mean those pigeons were just *chef's kiss* for this genre. I suspect that some viewers did not get the genre at all and were expecting something else so were quite disappointed. Because it is a dramedy, I could forgive somethings because it was fun and easy going so it could do whatever they wanted to do. I mean they even broke the 4th wall once if I remember correctly.
I do however agree with some reviewers regarding the romance; it was not necessary at all and there was hardly any chemistry anyway other than friendship. If I was the male lead or any one of the actors in that drama I think I would have had the best time and a LOT of fun.
I am constantly in awe of Korean writers' ability to try something different and STILL keep all the usual tropes in. The one trope they missed out was the lovers having crossed paths as children. LOL. I am waiting for the day that the "couple" doesn't have a separation period over a time jump.
Yes, I agree. Of all the things wrong with the representation of autism in that particular drama (I thought they did a pretty good job even though the idealistic ending was a bit far fetched), the one's highlighted in this article were not the ones I picked up having also lived with a person on the spectrum and a 1 to 1 teaching support to a person on the spectrum and dealing with person on the spectrum in education etc. Also the difficulties of being a carer especially the pressures of being a child carer is immense and I thought this drama did a good job representing the struggles of loving someone but also sacrificing so much of oneself for them without respite. Also both characters suffered great trauma since young and also dealing with their sibling bond and all that comes with it as well as co-dependence. The struggle is real even if you are caring for someone for whatever reason. It isn't easy in the slightest.
Well that derailed quickly. Really didn't appreciate the social manipulation especially as it wasn't really necessary at all. Mark being part of it was just stupid. I am surprised this relationship lasted at all since there was little foundation to it. A little bit of a lack lustre ending. The beginning episodes had more chemistry. The only redeeming quality was the actors doing what they could to keep the story somewhat together by a shoe string.
I am still confuse with KEAM and he is a MYSTERY. Nevertheless, regardless of his motives, the way he takes care…
Yes. This. It's very strange. I like it because that actors aren't bad but also it is missing something. Dialogue perhaps? They actually don't say much. No one says much so I am confused about the relationships between different characters. I mean a couple of them have girlfriends that we hardly ever see so it makes me think that maybe they are heading towards a BL couple but then nothing develops and the same things keep repeating. In any other show this confusion and nonsense might annoy me but this show still has a certain charm to it that makes me watch every week nonetheless.

LOL each to their own I guess.
