War is bad

This is a drama, that basically tries to tell us that war is bad.

The end.

Okay, maybe not the end,

The drama did have a romance with mostly decent acting by the leads medicre english and odd acting by some of the side characters. The female lead got on my nerves more then once, the male lead as well as his interactions with the female lead were fun to watch most of the time but he also had some moments of annoying. This main couple was probably the couple in dramaland that communicates the most with each other without actually communicating,.But their chemistry kisses where decent, even though I pretty much shipped the male lead with a guy at the mental hospital at one point just so he wouldn't go for the female lead and her childish ways.

There is a pretty decent obviously (if not for censorship) gay couple who could have made a great thruople with dr. Pei or maybe we could ship her with A Zhan... that could work too... The boys interactions had great chemistry enemies to lovers vibes far, far away from brothers.... And while A Zhan probably made most peoples heart flutter in the early episodes, He was swiftly overtaken by Ben in the later episodes, a guy who made the best of the limited screen time he got.

Back to the war is bad part of the plot. While there are several conflicts going on in the world. This drama is purely a work of fiction, Or at least that is what they tell us. Combining issues seen in conflicts all over the word doing their best to keep it clear from a specific war they do make sure we know that war is bad China is good, kind, the land of heroes there to protect the poor poor people of war (basically any American war movie out there, just with Chine instead of US). Rebels are evil creatures who see children as shields and are in it for the thrill of killing the innocent even the dogs get killed by these vultures who long to make things blow up.

Why the rebels decided to start blowing people up is of course completely irrelevant in this story as there is clearly only one side that is good and the other is bad. Period (agin much like 80s American war movies). With the nuance of war being profitable to mercenaries and evil journalists who do not care for the people.

However what they do add to the war is bad, is the amount of ways war is bad trying to evoke emotions over and over again. Trying to put faces and tie stories to the victims of war showing how it affects families, orphaned kids, kids who die, kids who eat candy and then die, throwing in some human trafficking and child brides, And top it all off with severe PTSD, depression, anxiety etc. By the end I actually felt very little. While I believe they tried to make us feel stuff and wanted to say that journalistd and pictures can change the world. I felt that they pretty much explained the process of dehumanisation/normalisation by over exposure instead.

So while the music is touching saying goodbye my friend... The ocean of sadness and attacks where Lost in the wait and I guess they didn't really make me find my way back to the emotions, The silent tears didn't find their way out and the only thing that felt like a knife in my chest was the OST who plays over and over again in my head and in my buds.

Yep this is indeed once again

This is the story of the boy who watched another man get killed in front of him in order to save his life and then kind of got stuck in that moment... So he traveled back in time to fix it... It is also the story of the overly nice guy who was happy to die to save a kid... This is also the story of the two men who got stuck in a box and could not for the life of them figure out how to think out of that box...

So basically this story makes very little sense... the people here seem to completely lack all ability to think about consequences or I do not know acknowledge that there is an outside world out there... But then again does time travel ever actually make sense?

So if you go in to this shutting off your brain you will find some mediocre acting, loveable characters and dead fish kisses... There are a lot of lovely interactions, some attempts at humour I think but it comes off more awkward than funny... But hey awkward can indeed be funny...

The drama is short so it is an easy binge, and the story does get points for being a ted different than most other time travel stories... Part of the ending is actually really good another part if it is just off...

More in the comments marked spoiler...

The Struggles of a Single Mother Done Right

This was just such a pretty drama, a lovely depiction of the struggles of the typical single mother trying to survive in the workplace type of movie..

The story is not really new, but it does have a few nice touches twists and turns involving backstabbing colleges who literally will stop at nothing to get a head.

The core of this drama is the mother-daughter relationship where the two seem to care a whole lot for each-other but also struggle with honesty as both mother and daughter have a whole lot of secrets and insecurities in their relationship. Pretty much like most teens who are trying to find themselves as well as their sexuality. Finding a way to come out to ones parent is not always easy. Especially if that parent keeps pulled back to work at the most inconvenient times creating a whole lot of misunderstandings. As one could expect in a movie about this type of relationship. It does also make way for some pretty decent lines questioning the whole idea of coming out, done really smoothly and did not feel forced at all.

There are also some back and front stabbing teens as well, as well as some guy who really should learn a whole lot about consent.

There is also some slight romance, lust and even a show of true friendship hidden somewhere in there between all the stabbing, shooting and other ways to kill/die. As this is pretty much all covered in a lot of gorgeously filmed slow mo blood-splatter, shining shreds of glass and legs kicking in beautiful surroundings and to the sound of perfectly mismatched music. Just the way I like it.

Did we get to see anything new?

No not really, but it was well made, pretty and definitely one of the better mother-daughter movies out there. Also if you do watch it make sure not to miss the epilog it was like a perfect little stab in the heart.

Great trios, ok pairs but not so mismatched after all

This is yet another about another orphaned and traumatised cold CEO who falls in love with a bubbly less rich girl... This time the girl is a country girl, who knows martial arts but acts more like the little mermaid than a grown human being... Which kind of bothered me at times. And had me annoyed the first few episodes. However with time she grew on me and felt more human. The main leads story had very little to offer, including lack of process... mediocre chemistry but a bunch of back hugs and scenes on bridges. That said we did get a bunch of cliches (I love cliches) and stuff that made 0 sense. So this is defiantly a turn off your brain watch.

What I loved was the brother/cousin trio, their interactions where 90% gold but 10 oh come on... why did you have to go that way... lowering the score for this otherwise 10/10 trio. The secretary triplets are also a a lot of fun and so is the grandfather.

The second couple was a lot more lovable, interesting and made more sense than the first couple. These two actually mention the word consent and have a flirting push and pull period, agin packed with cliches but done fun. Giving us the rare experience of seen supporting characters that are great together and great characters regardless of their love interest. Had they switched stories with the mains this could easily have been a 9 star drama.

What bothered me the most was how they show country people it feels extremely off, noisy and dare I say stereotypical 9/10 scenes. The next thing to bother me was the infused unnecessary drama the last 3 episodes or so that felt both under developed and both ruined an otherwise lovely character (though there where warning signs) and added 0 to the plot.

All in all an ok watch, easy to binge, beautiful scenery, a few fun lines here and there and gif-worthy but not much more.

Fun!

This was so much fun!
okay some parts were a tad draggy... and some repetitive... but looking at these people interacts was a pure pleasure for the eye... I laughed, I smiled... my heart fluttered and I got a bunch of renewed crushes...

I am not really in to variety shows, having only seen Jung Hae In travel logs and started a bunch of others but dropped mid first episode but this one realed me in right from the start. Was it the familiar faces? The gathering of lots of favourites? The fact that I have seen and enjoyed all the dramas mentioned? or was it just the timing and the way it fit my mood just right? I do not know. However watching an episode of this a day was a pure joy and I strongly recommend it to those who have seen the shows. You may enjoy it even if you have not but it does help actually knowing what they are talking about, more than the short clips shown in the show.

I am however sure this show caters to most K-drama fans out there, showing a bunch of famous actors get to know each other and do stuff together in a very entertaining way.

A lot of secrets, a lot of love... an lot of cringe...

This is a drama that made me wonder, is this a parody or are they for real?

The acting ranges between really bed (intentionally?) and mediocre. The dialog is cringe, cringe and well more cringe... and the music is catchy, there is a lot of kissing but most of the kisses have less chemistry than a 1st grade math class and are puppy meets dead fish. So this is basically a pretty awful low quality drama in every way possible... other than some abs and gorgeous smiles... here and there... yet I found this oddly addictive and entertaining...

There is just so much stupidity in this but it is not the annoying type of stupid so it kind of works. The PPL and K-drama references are present in every single episode making me wonder if this is a BL gone K-drama gone bad... Hate to Love possessive male lead changes when he meets organised mature male lead...

With jealousy, shippers and fall on your lips kisses... Not a healthy relationship in sight, and a whole lot of odd pacing... So I would say this is so bad it is mediocre but entertaining, worth a watch if you are in need to just let your brain go and just watch the cringe as it unfolds in front of you...

Interpretive sensual dance?

This 5 minute spin off was more of an artistic interpretive dance... A slightly insane dance that seems to show Noahs way of understanding the word, whereas the series focuses on Wu Zheng perspective.

Here we see people in masks, wether looking a bit like a combo of the playboy bunny with BDSM in an ever spinning world where fear lives and the color of the light changes. Extremely artistic and wild as apposed to series which is very calm and low key everything.

comparing the two makes this series seem a lot deeper, better ads a whole other dimension making me re-evaluate some of the parts from the series if this makes any sense in any way, so if you watch Innocence make sure not to mis the (not that) innocent.

Also I love the title for this part...

Same same but different over and over again with a dash of sweetness...

The wheels on the bus go round and round, bomb on the bus goes boom, boom, booom... And the people on the bus they die, come back, die, come back....

This drama was mostly interesting and fun to watch keeping me on my toes from start to finish and making me completely fall in love with the leads.

This drama did a pretty decent job combining suspense with slice of life and the whole person behind the deed... The drama shows some of the troubles facing mostly women in today's society , fear, double standards as well as shows us that you never can tell how a person is just by looking at them. But what I liked most was the concept of trial and error... doing, failing, adjusting, doing again... over and over again without becoming boring.

this drama made my heart flutter, laugh and brought out some of my inner anger, it also got me annoyed at a few characters in a ohhh what an annoying kind of way and not that emotional anger I otherwise appreciate, thus bringing down the score. Other things that brought down the score where things like a magic pill that instantly fix a persons heart and some people's reactions that seem a bit off and out of proportion... Still the issues this drama seems to want to convey do make their way (some overly obvious) thru the scene.

But other than that the chemistry between the leads is great and both are highly lovable so I would like to see more of them, there are sweet pets and the PPL is not too overwhelming ether. There are also a bunch of pretty explosions...

In short a pretty decent watch!

So much potential just ruined

What do you get when you take a great story, great cast. some great lines and dump a bunch of slow mo never ending monologue with violins, piano, cringe and misinformation... 5 stars and some bored viewers.

This drama has so much potential, really the cast is great, it has the looks, the chemistry, the diversity (ish), no one overly annoying and most of all no one lacks talent. The story has everything I love in a drama, it had my head spinning the first few episodes with suspense making my head spin of all the theories, it tackles some of my absolute favorite issues, including child abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, suicide etc. It has some amazing friendships and relationships and even shows a person who lives with a recycled heart as a competent human being! Topped off with sweet, sweet romance, fluff and amazing side couples. This could easily have become a 10.

But then, it was just dragged out, and just turned in to a mess making me bored instead of spinning my head by the time we got to know the truth, I honestly could not have cared less.

At some point the main characters get to have conversations with their inner child, I am sorry but all respect to inner kids watching it on screen just makes me want to barf. And the monologs just never end... They try to be healing and non judgmental but end up just bad, cringey and boring. I think they try to tell us that the smallest things can make a difference but it just becomes to much... Again sad because some parts are actually good and worth hearing, just that it gets drowned out by the moralisation, and never ending slow motion talk (okay it was not sloe mo but it felt like it) and I do not have double speed when I watch Netflix on my lap top so I endured it... But If you do not mind this stuff, go on watch it because it is pretty good between the boring parts, and hey it also has some sweet animals in it.

Now to the misinformation about heart transplants, as a person living with a recycled heart this bugs the hell out of me, why you may ask well, I will not spoil this so Ill just say it is used in a very dehumanising way for the plot from several angels but also misinformation is bad for those who may need a heart and those who live with a recycled heart because it effects how we are perceived and can scare the s*** out of us and people around us.

While watching I wrote this:

Ok so as a heart transplantee I just have to say a few words, people who receive hearts have no time limit, we may have had before but not any more. As long as we go for regular check ups and take our meds we should be fine. We may need a kidney or liver later on but I think it is pretty rare, and my liver and kidneys are in great shape (I check them every year)!

We are not restricted from exercise at all, it may take a while for the heart rate to go up but other than that we (I) should probably exercise more.

We are more susceptible to infections (our meds lower our immunsystem), and skin cancer, some of us get anxiety, survivor's guilt and more often than not try to compensate for the loss of time due to previous illness by overworking and getting stress induced exhaustion...

But can otherwise live perfectly boring lives, do whatever we would have done without the experience of recycling hearts...

So now you get a lesson about recycling hearts, this of course goes for those with access to good health service, I also assume restrictions can very from place to place but for those wondering I take lots of meds, have a bunch of big scares (his is never visible) and need to avoid soft ice cream and milkshakes from a machine, unpasteurised dairy, raw fish or meat, grape fruit, ice from a machine, always wash vegetables well and cut off the ends of tomatoes, avoid raw juice if it is not freshly made and need to avoid ibuprofen . I am allowed to drink alcohol in moderation unlike him, and I think that is it...

So if you do chose to watch this you may want to bare this in mind...

At the Moment I could use some more Moments of these...

I started this anthology, thinking I am not a huge fan of anthologies and thinking it should be okay if I just space it out so I watched the first episode felt this was ok... maybe a 7,5 or so nothing wow but an okay story with interesting characters that I could not fully relate to so I took a break and watched something else before I took on the next episode, an episode that started all weird but ended up pretty good and before I knew it I had completed episode 8 and felt a whole bunch of feelings...

Anger, disappointment, sorrow, pain, oooh how cute, and wait what was that... All interesting stories in one way or another, all had well developed characters and all kept me curious about how it would go... I guess wanting more but all I got was this moment... or maybe another couple of moments but most of those moments added to my will to learn more instead of satisfying my curiosity about the people in this show.

There are a few lessons that I am sure you will figure out, a bunch of balls flying in a really good way, some balls flying in an not so good way....

The match point of this show is however the so called real stories, they may be scripted, but all stories are of the kind that are taken from real life events, regular people, regular struggles, and a whole lot of love...

Crash Course in K-dramas

This is a story that basically tells us that the rooftops of Korea are a bit to easily accessible while hitting the top floor in society is d*** hard.

It is a true K-drama with a sure way to get bingo in a game of K-tropes and cliches... So if you have seen a drama or two before you are bound to recognise the twists ahead (with a few exceptions). So to love this you must be the type who loves cliches and well luckily I do.

You must also love watching slow paced romance, found family and the wide range of bad parents found in dramaland as they truly have gathered bot the supportive, the selfish, the insane, the corrupt the pavers... yep pretty much every single parent I have ever written about is in there (except for the same sex).

There are several couples in this drama, all good and frustrating in their own way, several issues are addressed a long the way while the main theme is indeed student pressure and inequality you will find some more stuff in there as well done pretty good but also a little bit inconsistent in build up vs wrap up as some parts of the story may build up for 14 or 16 episodes will be wrapped up in a short 2 second scene never to be spoken of again.

Binge ability- high
Heart-flutter medium ,
Predictability- high
Cuteness- high
Frustration- high

All in all a decent watch for those who like to mix genres and do not mind the predictability of the plot,

A beginner to K's may find this more exiting and is sure to be kept on their toes, so I think this is a really good introduction to K-dramaland so if you ever find yourself wanting to lore someone into K-dramas this is a good place to start.

A more realistic ending...

If you have watched the original ending and could look passed a bunch of stuff this ending may just ruin stuff for you as I would say this ending is more realistic . Or at least more human, real, less out there... ending as far as realistic endings can get. I am not really sure this ads much to the story.

However for those who have been there... or who have been trying to figure out the pros and cons to going a long with societies expectations, falling in love at first f*** or just trying to be true to ones self without hurting others. This ending could probably hit a spot or two...

Watching this is pretty much completely unnecessary, especially if you are satisfied with the first ending, but if you feel like you want to see more and want something that gives you a bit more food for thought this is not a total waste of time (and money)

Yonder made me Ponder... (sorry, I could not resist)

If you are looking for an exiting sci-fi future type thing move on there is really nothing for you to see here, as this has very little excitement in it and is pretty much guaranteed not to keep you on your toes. There is not a lot of heart fluttering moments as I would say about 90% of the mimics are listless and full of death... Sure there are a few fluffy flash backs here and there and some pretty gorgeous scenery but if illness and death had a face this would be it. Slow, depressing and pretty much eventless, yet eventful all at once.

I do not know if I am making any sense, and I am not really sure what this series is actually trying to tell us. I honestly think this is a bit like a good piece of art, up to the person watching to figure out what it truly is about, and how they feel about it. As things are never simple and always come with unforeseen consequences.

Are they trying to warn people from selling their soul to google?
Are they showing the us how cults work? And warning us against mass suicide?
Is it a story about religion vs. science and mans wish to believe in a life after death?
Is this a blue vs. red pill situation (Matrix but without the action)
Is it a depiction of the truly depressed mind?
Is it truly just a solution to the overpopulated earth?
A warning against euthanasia?

Or is it just some person trying to exploit the weak to make money?

The beauty of this show is that it had me thinking all these thoughts and more at at one point or another while showering me with beautiful cinematography. As well as with some well fitted humour, or at least scenes and dialog that I found funny, but that could be my dark and twisted humour that caught it, as this is definitely not a comedy, at all.

I have one complaint and that is that I ddi not get to see enough of Han Ji Min in this as she is listed as a main but is clearly a support.

So for those of you in the mood for pondering and watching something depressing, this is definitely a good place to find it, just make sure you are up for it.

50/50 good and mediocre yet oddly entertaining

Honestly the first few episodes had me wanting to rate this a lot lower but somehow I fell for the boys and realised it is all about the feels....

This is the story of the playboy rich boy who is obsessed with water pressure, who falls in love with the pathetic not so rich boy.... Mr. Richie rich is a lot of fun to watch, has some basic acting skills, is lovable and just full of cool charm.

Mr pathetic, is supposedly to kind and full of work ethics, however I am not sure if it is the director, writing or boys skills he just had me slightly annoyed and not the least bit convinced.

The rest of the characters do their job well, some more lovable than others but the real focus is on the boys, and while mr. pathetic is just not that fun to watch, the guy who falls for him is. To be honest I can not for the life of me figure out why he would fall for him but fine he did, giving hope to all pathetic people out there... yes people there is a hot playboy chaebol just waiting for you to transform them with love... and work ethic they will risa above to become monogamous, hard workers and so on, and so on...

The music was fine, friendships decent, scenery some sweet but mostly office boring, kisses range dead fish to "I shall devour the fish" and the bingabilaty very high. Making this a drama I find myself moderately recommending to all those office, playboy gone soft trope lovers out there.. just mind the pathetic on the way...

Humans complicate things..

This is a sweet short film that makes use of an alien to question the gender binary, gender conventions and the hetero norm in society...

Gun does a really good job acting the role of a clueless alien and jumping between a very cold and straight face to making this soft loving face that makes you just want to hug him. As he shows how ridiculous some of our conventions are.

Off is his recognisable energetic, warm slightly childish self who acts as a pretty good contrast to the alien.

Very short it may not be a masterpiece but it is definitely worth 20 minutes of your time.
