This 23-year-old kid already has such a strong resume.

He's also consistently portraying geniuses or intellectuals of some sort. I haven't seen everything he's done, but all of the ones I've seen are:

1. Liu Zixing - political machiavelli
2. Xiao Heng - brilliant strategist and puppet master
3. Xiao Beiming - Sherlock Holmes' style genius
4. Xiao Huaijin - Scholarly mathematician, brilliant mind, supremely logical
5. Chai An - Genius businessman

I'm assuming Feng He is going to be extremely smart as well.

I think it's less about chemistry and more about the character. Xiao Heng really was an exceptional character (though I prefer Xiao Beiming). And there seems to be more focus on the actors this time than the characters.

It's so great to have new WXY content. I continue to be baffled by his ability to differentiate his characters so completely. Arrogant genius Xiao Huajin has none of the mannerisms, posture, or voice of arrogant genius Xiao Heng or arrogant genius Xiao Beiming. Somehow, they even LOOK different.

It does! It's a show that truly rewards patience.

Though I might get why he would do these. I think his strategy is to be a bankable serious actor, and to be that, he needs to keep the 'romance-chasing' segment of his fandom happy.

He is a character actor in a leading man's body. At the end of the day, he'll make all his characters special.

Rewatching this after "Shadow Detective". The contrast between Guan Cen and Xiao Beiming is so stark. His expressions, his mannerisms, even the way he walks or his patterns of speech are all different. How WXY differentiates the characters is so much more than costume and make-up. He truly disappears into his characters.

Also, the show is currently #8 (on 3 December 2025) on iQIYI International's Top 10 Dramas list. It's a niche genre show with ZERO marketing, resurrected after 3 years on the shelf, and launched over 4 days. By those standards, it's a blockbuster.

The Wanted Detective is still my favourite, but this was also very good, considering it was low-budget and cast a 20-year-old Wang Xingyue. He really makes you feel for his characters! It's not a mind-blowing thriller, but gripping nevertheless and perfect show to binge-watch.

WXY is an excellent actor. Good actors tend to make good choices with scripts and characters, so while this won't be phenomenal, it's bound to be solid. Going to binge watch this after its dropped!

This tracking sheet of yours is amazing. I was looking at the platform vs Yunhe ratings, and his shows have consistently outperformed all the platform ratings. Either he makes great script/role choices, or he's just been very, very lucky. Or, (and I'm going with this) he has magic screen presence that elevates anything he's in.
