Can anyone give summary of the novel? A little one like what happened to Zeng Di?
A/c the book: Spoiler alert🚨🚨 . . . . Zeng di tries to stick close to han ting, but he distances himself from her. After Ji Xing and HT get together, zeng di attempts to sabotage their relationship, by creating conflicts (busines related), mostly trying to manipulate Ji Xing, as she's the emotional one among the two. She invited Han Ting for dinner, with the idea of proposing to him, but he clearly severed ties with her.
She's left alone in the end. Han ting hated her way of handling business. She was never a love interest for him. ( In the novel, they did have a brief relationship, but at present they purely had a friends with benefits relationship.
I haven't watched it yet, but from the comments here, it seems the drama is pulling out all the cliches the novel…
They changed Han Ting dude. The script writer sprinkled some 'only for love' over the original story. They are closely following the events from the novel. But this college trope just changed han ting .
The han ting in the novel vs onscreen is very different(in terms of ji xing).
The one night stand in the novel was not a 10 year crush coming to fruition. It was heat of moment kind of thing. Their love story had a gradual build up. But now, Its gonna be a hell lot different. Han ting has been watching out for ji xing since episode 1 . They have the same office building , han ting is having small talk with ji xing in the lift, he's dropping her home in rain. Doesn't look like he's ever moved on from her. Also from no angle it looks like him & Zeng di ever were a thing, (our ML probably never had any relationships) . But, i feel Zeng Di has been portrayed by the actress really well. This is so not the han ting we know. He's cold and stern and definately not so approachable. . . . Other than his character change . So far they've done good . I'm loving it .

I didn’t really focus on the FL's brother. I skipped most of his scenes. But yes i get you . If they've had included ML &FL's marriage instead of Fl's brother, that wouldve been much better . It is what its is :)
I choose to differ on your stance regarding the ML & Fl's relationship being rushed, but again , i think that's why they ended the drama with Zhiming and FL still dating .
Can't wait for the episodes to be out, hope it won't disappoint me like BCE.
The thing with BCE is that , people went in with the mindset of romcom. But the truth is ...its not. Its a drama focusing on mother daughter relationship. The character can at times seem overbearing, but if you think and analyse the story based on the country, culture,perceptions andd beliefs of people, you'd realize that they did justice to the story.

Here's my interpretation Love for Han Ting and ji Xing had slightly different meanings. 1. ji Xing & Yi chen fell apart because more work and less time together was something Yi chen was not okay with. Maybe he had some masculine stereotypical ideas... Like, his woman must always have time for him. (Just my opinion) According to the book, they were together since college, it somewhat meant that they were quite happy and content with each other, but as Ji Xing's career became challenging and her role in their relationship changed, he just couldn't bear with it.
2. Ji Xing & Han Ting. The Han Ting in the novel is a guy who worships work. He is someone who's not all flimsy, when it comes to relationship. He's smart, clever & business oriented guy, with hard headed practicality . There's this part in the novel: "Ji xing used to wait for han ting to finish his work/business meetings, quietly watching him from a corner" Its him teaching her calligraphy scene i guess... So, we get an idea that he was someone who wouldn't think twice before prioritising work over his girlfriend depending on the situation
(I agree to your interpretation, ji Xing was like him in some aspects as well(, that's why she could juggle between her work and Shao Yi Chen, in the first place .) His importance in her life never deteriorated, therefore we see her trying her best to save it when Yi Chen just cut ties with her. Yi Chen was someone who didn't talk things out, he let discontent build up in his head, and one day it just exploded. Also Ji Xing & Han Ting were different in a sense that she was someone who'd do stupid things, when love. But for Han Ting stupidity is like a crime, something he can't commit. He's a perfectionist. He's a guy who believes that smartness is the way to go. And smart people don't get controlled by emotions.
In the trailer there is a line that has very poor translation, "I can't guarantee that you are the only one in…

Yes, also i feel, Since the scriptwriter is the one who wrote Dylan Wang's charater in only for love, I think she just went for a typical chinese business tycoon character. But still, I know for sure, it'd be fun to watch.

Can't agree more. They've created a softer version of han ting, maybe with the idea of pleasing the audience. They created a ML who would suit the taste of audience. I feel the specialty of the novel was the characters it had. Han Ting in the book was a clever, very mature, business genius, dominating and secretive kind of guy, who spoke very less, but his words had immense power and meaning behind it. He had this special, powerful aura. The book had the character of Han ting unfold its nature along the course. He was very different from a character like Yao Ziming (BCE).
I don't think it matters what his profession is. It has no bearing on the plot whether he is an engineer or doctor.
Agree. Han ting didn't have any feelings for her up untill the one night stand. Even after that, i feel his love was gradual, like he said to ji Xing. The cliche chinese childhood trope, sure does change the trajectory of their story.
The novel version had a strong, dominating CEO ML, who was overpowering most of the times. There's this sequence in the novel where ji Xing's hand got hurt due to that patient issue and han ting took her to his place, he said to her that she cant walk away just like that and stuff (i dont remember exactly). But that felt a hell of dominating behavior. Which would be a lot different , now that we know he had a crush on her since college.

I can totally relate & agree on this. I think this change does make a lot of sense. Like... When Ji Xing was working at the company, she had lots of time to adjust her schedule as per Yi Chen. While Yi Chen was the busy one. But once she starts her own company, they both dont have time for each other.. Causing the break up.
