Rightly pointed out. I believe the reason arrange marriages haven't gone extinct is because of this. Atleast family background is something that's verified, the only thing left to access remains personality. It works for some people , for some it doesn't.
I think the reason why matrimony arranged by parents still works in South east asia is probably because, children stay with their parents, even after they start working, so parents naturally have a strong influence on their lives. Some bits of it is respect, some bit is societal pressure..but they agree somehow.
But things are changing, love marriages or 'arrange cum love' marriages have come into picture, with advent of social media, dating apps etc..

He's got such amazing expressions. In the tourist bus scene (ahem... The confession scene), when MCH asked him to prove it whether he was sincere this time, he gave such perplexed expression. He's so damn cute. Ive never seen any actor demonstrate this plethora of expressions. And man, his eyes speak. Also this is my first time watching yangzi. She's pretty amazing. She looked gorgeous especially in the tourist bus scene .

Wow, just wow. With each episode, I'm falling harder for Xu kai's acting. Not just the dialogue delivery and expressions his eyes speaks lengths about what brilliant actor he is. When he went fishing with mai family (minus the mom), his expressions were just ...... epic 🤣
The FL's mom since long has crossed the boundary. Being poor is one thing but being greedy and shameless is another thing. I find it amusing how come huan and Zao are her children? She doesnt have a single ounce of maturity in her. Caring for your children and wanting to provide them better things is one thing, but the kind of greed she has exhibited, by making zhiming stay in the attic is just horrible. Even though a person says nothing it doesn't give one the right to behave the way huan's mom is behaving. She's absolutely ridiculous. Even after so much happened at the engagement (she planned with the Xin's), she's still sticking with her old ways.

I think initially when zhang visited grandma, she disclosed ziming's intentions regarding the restaurant, though ziming intercepted zhang in between, grandma had the hints. That's why grandma confirmed things from ziming during her stay in the hospital, and opposed his ideas... She said something like "what if i dont get satisfied with whatever adjustments you make to the initial plan ". Ziming's final answer (that he'd drop the idea) made her realize that ziming has now gained human touch.
Grandma probably gave huan only management rights, because she knew, big hawks eyeing the restaurant will try to snatch it from huan, if she'd have owned it right away. But now, 10 years of experience will make huan stronger, and it will be much more stable. My guess.. The latest change she made in her will was maybe 10 yrs ownership rights to the law firm instead of huan. Having met Ms Zhang and knowing the wishes of ziming, she probably did it to protect the restaurant and huan.
I'm not angry that Grandma gave the hotel to MCH, and I understand and agree with her reasoning for the most part,…
Maybe coz grandma want huan and ziming to get along (even after her death). Knowing that the hotel wasn't doing well, they'll probably have to listen to each other.

I don't think they made his death filled with dignity... Again , different people different opinions, To me, it felt more like... He was heartbroken on finding out the truth about seul hee, on confronting her. To him it was the worst betrayal in his life . And adding on to that, the guilt , that he estranged his family due to that scheming woman.
Since he was aware that seul hee had power only untill he lived , so suicide was probably the last resort he had .
Random thought: What if grandpa didn’t commit s**cide but was k*lled instead by Seul Hee or Eun Seong? What…

FL's mom is just too much. I just press forward, whenever she starts talking. (Totally out of context, just for comparison..... Yanghua's mom( SAHPH) was much less toxic than huan's mom. She also pressued him for marriage, but didnt scheme till this extent.) Subtract the nagging mom scenes, and this drama becomes really interesting. I'm loving the work sector dynamics, its really interesting. Also, Kai's character hasn't completely been unfolded yet. But its good that jin liang is out of the picture now. Its great to see more of Ziming and Huan together.
