in my 6 years of being a kdrama watcher I have learned long ago not to trust previews.

Yeah we all have a little culture clash going on when interpreting this.

The timeline is a bit hard to remember for me now too, but I'm pretty sure they were each other's first loves and also that happened in early adulthood / late childhood.

That one has a very similar plot to this. They were each other's first loves as young adults, but kept it a secret from each other until they started dating later in life. They also met as children & played together etc..

As I said the accent is not really the problem, the weird dialog is. Hiring a professional to write something less jarring would have cost nothing compared to the budget they're working with. It's sloppiness from the production team, that's what it is.

Hopefully this is just a minor hiccup that's mostly behind us now.

Personally I think the accent is just one thing, the lines are a bigger problem. To me the dialog sounds like what a 12 year old student would have written for English class.
