This drama is super weird in it's own unique way, so you could almost call it one of a kind. (I personally don't think it's THAT GREAT either)

A Piece of Your Mind is possibly the closest I can think of. (admittedly not all that close)
There is also One Spring Night, Encounter, Just Between Lovers and Rain and Shine, but these are big maybes..

The same writer has a similarly one of a kind, but very different drama that could also interest you: Mad for Each Other. (I think it's better than this one)

Mainland China and Japan are unlikely to care about this anytime soon & the other Asian nations producing dramas are not that big on exports yet.

There were a few scenes that should've been reshot from a different angle, where her features are presented in a less than flattering way, otherwise she is her usual vibrant self.

For a young and pretty woman this strategy almost always works in real life, so as cringey as it is, it's not the most unrealistic thing about this drama.

Those kdrama news are basically the production company or TV station promoting their dramas on the site, like on Soompi. This practice is not prevalent in other countries, yet.

That's very unlikely for a kdrama. It's either romcom, or B movie horror, but definitely not something dark & gripping. (the second one is very unlikely of course & based on the teaser this is just a normal romcom)

I suggest not to watch episode previews of kdramas in general. They are often intentionally misleading, or straight up non-canon.

The first 5 episodes depict a really weird breakup with a lot of odd stuff in between, after that it's like a 8/10 romcom with one really insensitive comment involving Auschwitz. (so far anyway)

If you survived that long consider continuing, the traditional romcom style stuff starts around 6-7.
