I agree completely with the sports and romance connection here, it's seems that dramas that are purely focused around sports unfortunately don't pull in the viewership numbers, so I think writers always include some romance in them to entice viewers.. but like you said.. dramas that are purely focused about the sport - e.g Hot Stove League - can be spectacular. I agree! I also think that's why great actors are also a vital part of a sports drama.. I would say playing the athlete role perfectly is a difficult role to play.. maybe watch a sports drama with more episodes - such as Cross-Fire (e-sports is still sports, right ;) ?) would help you gain a longer amount of motivation :D
