The three subordinates of the Marquis are all clearly threatened by Zhang Hai not only do they want to keep him from rising in the ranks, but there’s also evident friction among themselves. Their mutual dislike is bubbling beneath the surface, and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually turn on one another . Zhang Hai remains quite emotional, though he has started to manage his feelings better. However, his kindness could become a weakness if he doesn’t toughen up emotionally. There’s a real risk of it being exploited unless he learns to guard himself. As for the Marquis’s second son, it’s obvious he’s only pretending to be foolish. I’m looking forward to seeing how his dynamic with Zhang Hai develops . One of the standout moments was when Zhang Hai’s master posed as a fortune teller . It was a clever touch, highlighting how even those in high positions are haunted by the fear of loss. Excited for upcoming episodes two are not enough 😆
He’s definitely good-looking, but so far he hasn’t really proven himself as an actor. Honestly, I don’t understand how these new actors land such major projects especially alongside someone as established as Kim Go-eun.
Finally, a drama that feels worth watching after months! The past few months in dramaland have honestly been quite dull. I tried Love Never Fails— it started off interesting but quickly fell into the same predictable patterns. Love in the Pavilion was another one I dropped; I didn’t even watch enough to form a real opinion. But let’s talk about this new one. The first four episodes were genuinely engaging. The male lead’s revenge arc is compelling, and I appreciate how the drama spent time building his background and showing his growth. The child actors did a great job laying the foundation for his story.
The ML has definitely matured, though he still lacks that true coldness you'd expect in a revenge-driven character. I think that will come as the story progresses and he’s forced to face more challenges. Xiao Zhan is delivering a solid performance so far.
The female lead character seems cunning and sharp
I just really hope they don’t shift too much focus to romance. It’s a revenge drama — let it stay that way! I’ve seen comments hinting there will be a romance arc, but I’m hoping it remains subtle and doesn’t take over the main plot. I don’t like romance in these types of drama. The revenge storyline is what gives this drama its edge .
Why are these Heaven Fathers always so annoying? They decide everything on their own what is right, who is wrong. Their so-called righteousness is nothing but hypocrisy.
Why she is been chosen for replacement?? What happened??
Earlier, the female lead was Yuan Bingyan. Many fans were excited to see her reunite with Liu Xueyi after Love and Redemption. However, she was banned from the industry due to a tax evasion scandal. The drama was originally scheduled to release in 2023, but the controversy caused delays. Since the shoot had already been completed with Bingyan, there were concerns that the project might never air. Fortunately, the production team brought in Hu Yixuan to replace her, giving the drama a second chance.
Same she suited the character well and her acting is good but Alas! Girl should have paid her taxes She ruined her whole career and I don't think she will be ever back 🥲
Looking at the comments I am kinda glad I didn't watch it , I remember I started the first episode and it didn't click at all . I wanted to wait and see people reactions and many share the opinion as well . Arthur Chen and Sabrina are not bad actors , hope they choose better script
In Cdrama generally we get females waiting for their lover , here we have Yuan Zhong lol one of the most pitiful ml I have seen soo far . Dude never got rest from suffering.
Zhi Dai and Tang Hua would’ve looked so much better if they weren’t dragged down by that cringe love angle . Zhi Dai, who got a second chance at life by becoming young again, shines in her solo scenes much more than in the ones with Tang Hua. The same goes for Tang Hua. If the story had focused on him as a friend to Yuan Zhong, his arc could’ve been so much more impactful. But thanks to the cringe love angle their scenes ended up feeling dull and unnatural, lacking the emotional weight they could have had.
Ji Tanyin is honestly one of the best female leads out there. She's not childish or overly dramatic , there’s a calm strength in the way she speaks that naturally draws you in. This might just be one of the finest portrayals of a goddess I’ve seen. She treats everyone with genuine respect and kindness, staying neutral and compassionate whether it's the war demons or the Youhu clan. She truly understands the struggles each side faces, and carries herself with such grace and empathy it’s impossible not to admire her. Tiffany Tang did a great job and she's beautiful 😍
