You have to actually read the novel to really understand why people here are frustrated. TFF and TBT are much better as the actors are more seasoned there's just no competition.

I think that LHC cannot be that naïve to think she isn't going to face backlash. She and her agency accepted this script knowing that this is a romance drama with passion in it. Just common sense-mind you, these are entertainers with powerful agencies behind them that are industry experts too. The director could have chosen her for the lead role despite her no kiss clause, that's on them but she isn't without fault on how this looks. She didn't even portray the fake kiss scenes with any effort, she literally freezes up, along with the sloppy editing made it worse. Having a body double wouldn't make it that much better imo. LHC is just way too emotionless here like a pretty mannequin and feels like her acting is unnatural. A lot of times she seems lost. What could have been better is they don't deceptively say they adapted from the novel, stop with the fake camera angles and rename the title. I was alright with the show up to the first fake kiss take, it was so badly done that it left a bad taste afterwards. The whole production crew is collectively at fault.

This is just my opinion, I can't connect with her character whether it be how she is portraying it or whether she was given a script to act that way. I just find her robotic. Am I not even allowed to critique her performance without being told I'm hating on her? If another top caliber actress did it the same way, I'd be saying the same thing.

Both leads got bombarded with questions in the promotion live stream but they kept silence which added to the controversy. Her fans are defending her saying she doesn't deserve this if director and ML even had to accept this no clause kiss in advance.

There are many kissing scenes in the original novel. Xu Zhi also particularly likes to kiss and hug. The interactive tension between the two is what attracts the audience. LHC was said to be lacking professional ethics and disrespecting the original work and the audience, who describes it as shot like a "polite social interaction."

This part is really interesting: a casting director revealed that when signing contracts with post-00s actors, the performance scale has become a regular negotiation content. It was noted that "the original party demands respect for the text, the audience desires emotional immersion, the actors advocate bodily autonomy, and the investors consider commercial returns." I mean if industry changes to accept AI, it might or might solve this problems? Also read the statement released by the production team where they are taking legal measures if infringement escalated and to monitor public opinion.

I see him trying to be passionately in love with a mannequin. You have the potential and I hope you have better partners who are on the same page as you for your next projects.

Even without the kiss scenes, I was hoping that FL was able to deliver a romantic feel with emotional connection with ML but she can't even do that. Her acting is really wooden here and I can't help but interpret her character as overly confident, arrogant, narcissitic and borderline selfish and think she's above everyone else. It felt discrete in the beginning but now it's more pronounced. It doesn't help when they made the friends like clowns, always in the lead's business. She keeps leading him flirtatiously, giving cute smiles and dares him but when it comes to deliver some passion (even without the kissing), she can't even do the minimum to show any emotion or excitement to even make it look convincing. LHC, I don't think she has a passion for this project and it shows it like she's just going through the motion. Her eyes feels so soulless and like I'm staring at a black hole. Do herself and us a favor, please just stay away from romances if she's not giving it 100%. I don't mind objections, feel free to disagree.

FL is so freaking inconsiderate, she seems to only thinks of what she wants sometimes and act arrogant but I guess you can say it's overconfidence. Even the dialogue where he confronts her about things that is bothering him, she just stood there with no reaction. Even his friend mentions that he was never spoiled as a kid and low key shade her in a way, lol. ML shows his love and is insecure which is refreshing but she just acts rashly without even considering his feelings. LHC is just not made to do romance dramas lol, she's just too stoic and can't connect with ML emotionally.

The agency cannot be that ill informed about this. They knew her boundaries and still had her accept the drama. The director definitely had options to choose an actress to deliver but deliberately chose one that doesn't do them. Like what's going on? I think there's a lot of stuff going behind the scenes. I'm thinking any publicity is better than no publicity.

Please decline any romance dramas to your agency, even if they force you do it.

I think behind the scenes of this show is getting a tad more interesting than the drama itself. So far we know this all spiraled when they aired the infamous fake kiss episode.
1) FL has a no-kiss clause? Is it her decision or her parents/grandfather? Rumor or fact?
2) FL's agency forced her to accept this script even with her limitations?
3) Director cast an actress with this clause? What is the reason?
4) Reason for FL or her agency to accept this script for international fame and popularity. These industry insiders must have some awareness (literally their jobs) that said clause for this particular drama will possibly generate negative publicity.

I think the point is that it is adapted from the novel and she cannot deliver those types of scenes is why people aren't feeling it. It is hard to overlook that aspect since there are so many of these scenes in the novel itself. Maybe it's deceptive marketing but I think the fake camera angles really put people off, either do it well or don't put it out there. They are literally asking for criticism. As for FL, I don't connect with her and find her expressionless and in her own world sometimes. I can't help feel now that she's a miscast as she cannot seem to carry out a romance drama which requires passion either. It's not that she's terrible since I think she excels in other genres but I question why her or her agency chose the project.

To be accurate, this show should be renamed to "Be Passionately fake in love." FL is definitely a miscast. I can't help picture what could have been if they casted XRH or ZY in this. Thinking of TBT and ELM.

Oh yes that was a good show. FL was great and he matches her in terms of passion.

I mean I give him extra points for even attempting to portray the scene with passion. He could make out with a stuffed doll and it'd look alright. Not so much for her part cause she isn't even trying literally. I can't help feel that she is a miscast in this. They definitely should stop with the fake kissing cause it's getting tiresome.

yeah she just stood there like a tree and not an ounce of concerted effort. At least he's trying though and appears to make it seem like he's into his character. Either it's sloppy directing or they just gave up with the whole concept.

I think we have to set aside any expectations of a real kiss, it's just not going to happen at this point. Ideally the character should have went to another actress but it is what it is. I'm just annoyed that they are continuing with the fake kiss angles, like just stop it. We are not stupid so stop making it appear like its passion. Ngl, it looks ridiculous and they know it with the wall, sun and now the rain. U kidding me?

Aside from that, I also don't feel the FL's passion for ML, she's just lukewarm and cold or indifferent to him, sometimes even towards her relationship with other people. And dare I say, I find her a tad arrogant in some respects, maybe cause she's the "it-girl?" it could be interpreted as playful flirting or overconfidence whatnot but can also be inconsiderate, imo. Feel free to disagree.

Yeah not going to happen ever. Like zero percent and it's quite obvious. We're all just getting see a happy go lucky FL who pretend that just happened.
