To my surprise, there are quite a few people who do not like xanxia dramas, probably because the plots are so predictable.

Reba does have an explosive drama, "Pretty Li Hui Zhen" which won her the Triple Eagle. If you go to Wikipedia you can see the average audience share and "Pretty Li Hui Zhen" averaged higher than "Ashes of Love". "Eternal Love of Dream", is currently Tencent Video's all time top costume drama. It was is sitting at #1 in the app (Untamed was #3).

Luckily with technology they can probably just fill in his face with someone else. Reshooting would probably be more difficult. This will air one day, just have to wait longer.
