It's normal for armchair critics who want more of this and less of that.
I didn't find the secondary characters too problematic in this drama.
I agree more of us would have likely wanted more screen time with the leads.

This was a roller coaster ride with agnst, romance until the final episode.

2FL delivered on the minor villan villain role. Unlikely she auditioned for the lead female and got offered 2FL.
Perhaps playing an out cast, lonely person wasn't credible?

Has she been a main lead in anything to date?
FL is prolific, in a dozen roles, won an award in 2014.

Many actors are successful in supporting roles, she was convincing as a narcissist, bully, wholly unlikable character. No redemption in this drama.

Someone has to play the villain, her lines, scenes were better than the middle aged gardener who was the stalker/Shaman/murderer.

Her mannerisms with her crush reminded me FL in DWY.

Some people can't get past the language, physicality of the ML towards the FL.

Who doesn't like watching the pursuit and running away of the leads?

They were each other's first love in Joseon era and last love in present day.

They were always destined to be together.

Critics couldn't follow along, went down every rabbit hole and got lost.

If you remained focused on the leads, it was everything 🧀🤣😬😱😭👾🦒🐻

One of the better rom com this year. OST is great.

Her charisma is what I find irresistible, male leads don't stand a chance.

DWY nearly every male falls for her, females are jealous.

The height mismatch only added to the humour in that pairing.

Her obsessive, psychopathic role in Innocent Thing (2014) won her an award.

Will watch for her in different roles to see her range.

It's not a bad thing if an actor knows, plays to their strengths.
John Wayne, Cary Grant were type casted successfully.

KTL, Secret Garden have rich male leads that literally lose their minds in pursuing a poor female lead.

If you're interested Encounter has a lovely twist with the poor male lead rescuing the wealthy Fl (CEO) from her bird cage to their eventual pairing. OST 🥰

I've enjoyed this ahead of those, KTL close 2nd.
DWY non linear structure appears to have broken some.
No plot, too many plotlines, detestable FL etc.

From my perspective, they couldn't follow along, understand it.

It remains a love story between the leads with secondary characters that aid in unfolding the this tapestry of past and present lives.

Flashbacks, tropes if done poorly can destroy the flow, but it wasn't in DWY's case.

I didn't get lost, others appeared to.

Hallucinations, dreams, portents by leads, Eun Wol only provided context, angst in the correct dosage.

Main villains in most rom coms are underwhelming, action, fight, medical emergency scenes remain problematic.

Thank you for your explanation what you experienced, I didn't pick up on the over use make up for the males.

I was sold, looking closely at the leads from the beginning and trusted the synopsis.

The cringeworthy pursuit of the FL by the ML was executed flawlessly.

FL's one-sided crush, wrongful targeting of ML with the Love potion, denial, only aided with marinating their fated love.

The direction, writing delivered, the cast hit their marks.

Giraffe and Bears are better than a Bear and Otter pairing. ( Not on my Bingo card 2023)

I spotted the subtlety, non verbal communication between them and didn't get distracted. It was a good pairing.

I found him to be the weakest link on the casting side, I wanted a more evil villain?

My Lovely Liar, same problem with the brother of the ex-gf found him unwatchable.
The fight scenes were awful.
Heartbeat fell apart with their action scenes for me.
