This is one drama where viewers are very divided. I personally enjoyed it a lot but also understand those that didn’t enjoy it. Regarding romance btw CP, there’s a lot of longing (like 30 eps) followed by joy and happiness. The longing is sweet to me because they express love and caring for each other during that time. It’s like a marathon for us as the audience to wait for them to finally freely love each other. Like a marathon, that can be painful and difficult but also rewarding after the journey.
I marathoned ep 1-27 in 2 days and had to go to ep 32 as I needed to sleep.Now what? Is ep 28-31 worth watching…
Through 29 - just know they got rid of Prince Zhao. ML was. Quite conflicted b/c Prince saved him but also killed his family. Sigh. Also she tells him about her bjground. That scene was so good!
Ep 30 well done by actors. Important revelation.
31 - joy, fun, humor, happiness. This is a good ep.

Lol…. I still remember the stack of tissues and weeks of lingering emotions from this drama. Heck, it’s been two years and I still come back here ever so often.
I binged the entire 40 episodes in 3 days. I don’t mind the sad ending since sometimes it cannot be avoided…
Yes, this was a great drama, pulled us along the ride and connecting with the brotherhood. I too loved Yu Shishan and ended up watching a few other Alen Fanf dramas (Les Belles is a light comedy).
