Don’t force yourself if you don’t kind something. Watching dramas is supposed to be enjoyable. I personally loved it (couldn’t stop laughing) but it’s up my alley. There’s so many subtle details hidden in their interactions, conversations, allusions to other dramas and movies, references to real life experiences of the actor and production crew, reflections on our real world. It has comedy, satire, angst, growth, intrigue, politics, and love (romantic, filial, family, brotherhood, country) I couldn’t multitask while watching it. If you hate the FL, then a maybe look for a dramas with a Fl character with qualities you like. Our female lead here has a very low bar set for herself - seek self preserverence and low effort to enjoy life. If you think about it, how may of us can relate to that if we are honest with ourselves? She’s stubborn and not all that bright and from the modern world. But this drama shows her growth from only caring about herself to caring beyond herself. From little effort to lots of effort. It’s painful but how many times have we fallen in our own journey of character growth. This is not just simply a chill sit back and enjoy the ride drama like some others. It’s a reflection on humanity.

Have you watched When Destiny Brings a Demon? That’s more of a romance drama with lots of devotion and love through thick and thin. Or a maybe Shadow Love, another fun romance drama with superpowers,love and devotion with a strong Fl who is honorable, caring, and noble in character.

Exactly.one of the best features about this drama is that the characters’ behaviors make sense even if it frustrates the audience who prefer sweet romance.

I enjoyed it but it is heavy on business. It’s a great overcoming obstacles drama. Personally, I enjoyed the chemistry and the personality of the characters. They are not your perfectly good characters. Both imperfect. I watched it when it aired and still love it. It is very detailed so if you don’t pay attention to the conversations and subtleties, you may miss out on what’s going on and find it boring.

Just watching this every so often as I’m not a big high school drama fan. However, it is just so wholesome and darn cute. Leaves me grinning from ear to ear watching her positive spirit warm up everyone around her. Just finished ep 5. In a world full of toxicity, this is a wonderfully healing drama.

So because he saved his buddy’s life (with the snake hide armour), the ai system changed the plot by killing his “lucky bag” and replacing him with the villain? He’s so trusting of him because he’s of his memory of the original plot.

the previews to 7/8 suggests that maybe he cannot change the ai’s planned fate for his buddy? Looks like he’s going to get stabbed.

Haha… the last drama I remember (LCN) there was no romance. I feel like his characters always end tragically.

I was checking out the case list and it’s huge with many familiar faces.
“Uncle Wu” from JOL I & II plays the emperor.
Also, didn’t recognize Edward Zhang as the 2nd bro. He played a very despicable villain in “under the Moonlight”. Love his acting.

I did the same thing! Ha! Checked my viewing setting and was surprised it was at 1x. Felt like they sped it to fit into the 40 ep limit or something.

The humour is cute. So far so good.

Yes, poor NH because he’s suffering so much from all sides. but try looking through the lens of each of the characters instead of our full 20/20 vision. For example, the FL. She’s from the real world reading this script and has read how each character was described and personally experienced NH’a fearsome side. Also, everyone is fearful of him. As the story progresses and she starts to see the side of him that we(the audience, sees but then, just as she starts having doubts about her impression of him, BAM, she experiences something that pulls her back.

Agreed. Love 3-D characters and I’d say overall all the characters in this drama were well written and performed. The one inconsistent character for me was the emperor. The change was too drastic to make sense.

It’s truly a gem.

Also, this is not your cookie cutter drama. Lots of poking fun of drama tropes, references to other dramas, other movies, and real life experiences of the actors. Subtle gestures showing people’s change of heart. Lots of details that are easily missed. You may find the female L to be annoying, but if you analyzed her character, and the events through her lens, you’ll realize it makes sense.

When you get to the end, keep watching past the credits.
