I’ve mentioned my theory before so here my take:
The first NH was as she read it., not a nice guy. Puts his plan before people.

However, At the meeting in ep 1, LYN’s agent complained to the script writer and director how bad the story was. How NH wasn’t fleshed out, not cool, not lovable. How the love triangle scene was not cool. She demanded that they change it: increase his scenes to flesh him out so the audience would fall in love with his character. Let him take on the critical scenes and moments.

So while she’s in the drama, the scriptwriter is making the changes. Other than the iconic moments, a lot has changed or you can say the characters are more human vs 2-d: NH, her sister, NH’s mother, etc. And of course what she thinks she knows is kinda old news.
NH’s LSL has fallen for her because of her humanity as well. Maybe he wouldn’t have fallen for the old written character of her. We would never know.

Oh yea! That’s right, now that you reminded me. I made the connection when I watched that scene bu then forgot it. Hsha

I don’t really impose my ethics on imaginary characters. Generally, I will watch how the story unfolds. For example, the behavior of the emperor, who by the way also cheated on his wife by having multiple female spouses, is cruel, calculating, and cunning. He treats his son far worst than his enemies. But I’m not gonna say, he should be a good father because no father should treat their own flesh and blood that way. He hates NH for what he represents - as the son of a powerful family, he’s a threat to the emperor’s Power. He’s also a reminder of the death of his beloved. It’s quite tragic. If he were wiser, he could have a very capable, loyal heir.

As for your comment about the “good guys”, maybe that’s why it’s hard for you. She happens to be the Fl but there are no rules that the main characters are “good guys”. Yes, generally, this is the case, especially obvious with superhero movies, but not exclusively. I’ve watched plenty of dramas where the “good guys” were downright cruel to their enemies but are pardoned by the audience because they “deserve it”.

Good and bad are labels we us to judge others. Most humans are neither all good or all bad. We are all faulty and fall short of good if we are honest with ourselves.

Anyway, this is all fictional after all. Meant for entertainment so when it’s no longer entertaining, i say look for it elsewhere.

So true. Hahaha but her “good acting” was so funny… omg… couldn’t be anymore obvious what she was trying to do. Even 28th prince would’ve figured it out if he were present.

Haha…yes, so many layers to this drama. Haven’t had so much fun since Filter. I’m not saying there haven’t been other dramas I’ve enjoyed since but this one is on another level.

Hahah… I feel you. I had to jot down notes to remind me what’s happening to keep the two separate. Today the emperor in TPG was just as cruel as in ADWAD. I was wondering whether the emperor here decided to spend time over there.

Did you notice it’s from his battle - the flashback was in earlier eps (2? 3?) where he played the drums ?

Not to mention good dialogue and very creative music / sound team. The timing is spot on

We can debate anyway to prove our point. But in all honesty, it makes no sense to even impose this on the couple. Like - what relationship was there between this modern girl and this general? She literally just see them all as story characters and not real. Plus, when she tried to marry him because she really wanted to, she kept dying, try as she might. The story just won’t let that happen. Furthermore, even if she were the really SYM what relationship did they have other than an oral agreement between other ppl for them? There’s no time spent getting to know each other. He spent his time in battle.

If you shun her because she fell in love with some one while engaged only in name, then a good chunk of cdramas will not be watchable in your eyes.

Enjoyed watching how much AvenueX enjoys this drama as we are. She’s quite excited and looks forward to creating more content for it. I’m with her, cheering for LYN, LYT, and the music team! Apparently they spent $$$$$ just to get rights to the music for opening scene just for our enjoyment. Sadly, I don’t know Chinese but would have loved to pick up all the references relating to the unfair attacks on AJTL. I only picked up two homages.

Nah - I enjoyed it. Just a shift to sister and sh. Personally, I think they are setting it up for the next iconic scene. you can see the main leads having fun.

Eh? Cheating / adulatory happens with married ppl. As of now, no one is married. She and general chu were arranged like when they were wee kids so that makes no sense to call it cheating. Plus, she told him no. Also, she doesn’t like NH. At by ep 18, not LSL either. They’re “sisters”. 🤣
