Simple, kinda fun but also hella boring. I'd give it a 6.5–7/10. I'm trying to give C-dramas another shot, but…
What are you looking for? There’s so many different types of c-dramas to choose from. Modern or costume ? Wuxia or xianxia? Comedy or drama? Lighthearted or deep? Romance? Crime? Slice of life?
Here are three recent ones that are very different:
Filter - modern, comedy, romcom, social issues, drama. If it’s your vibe you’ll bust out laughing.
The best thing - feelings of falling in love, very calm and happy feeling.
The blossom - costume drama, romance, family scheming, focus is the live. All else supports this.
Fake it till you make it - modern, mature romance , more business, lots of flirting and interactions
Oh no! Here comes trouble - modern. Technically Taiwan but very good. Comedy, solving mysteries of those who passed away.
I started out by watching the top rated ones on Mdl (above 8). Most are pretty good. Some old ones that I still enjoy:
Love between fairy and devil - costume. Xinxia. Good cgi for the time. Word of honor - costume, wuxia, bl, romance, angst, drama. Low production. The heart - modern, cardiology, brotherhood, a tinge of romance The hope - modern, social issues, drama Joy of life - costume, comedy, word play, action
Ep 7 - why do I get the feeling this drama is going to have a lot of tragedies? I don’t know any of the backgrounds/stories of these characters. So far so good. It’s much better done than the Red one.
Holy cow!!! That was so crazy, so violent, so loaded with violent stunts. Loved Nicholas Tse and Donnie Yen. I couldn’t watch all of the fighting scenes because they were so graphic. For those who want to watch as stunt filled cop film, this is full of adrenaline.
Thank you for your kind words regarding my review. I’m glad you liked it. 😊He did take her words to heart,…
I know he was a stubborn fool and it was after the damage was done that she destroyed he’s statue and he changed his ways. But yes, it was very sad. This was another LXY drama with an inbalance of suffering to joy ratio. Haha. Although after thinking about the ending for a week, I understand the reasoning as wanting to focus on his willingness to finally trust her.
But yes - another ep, even a short one would fulfill his trust in her words and end it on a high note verses halfway through.
omg 😭😭😭😭 I didn't know it was only 36 episodes. I was sitting in delulu thinking I had 4 more for…
lol! Idea is that he now trusts her when she told him she’s coming back (as contrasted to beginning when he didn’t trust anyone). Sadly, we don’t get to see it.
On ep. 21 but does it get any better??? This is sadly another Liu Sue Yi drama that I am comtemplating on dropping…
I watched it til the end… this drama is a bit less action focused imo. More happens in their conversations. The buildup is slow and steady to the end and then action occurs in the last few eps. I kept thinking how is he going to go forward with his plan. What is his plan? What’s going to happen? Is he going to destroy the world? How is she going to not fall in love with him because she clearly is. Why is nothing happening to her as she is growing for him? When is this crazy Hanna gonna get her end? Why is the selfish fox leader still around? I’m so used to watching xianxias with powerful all knowing heavenly realm leaders (think LBFAD), this was so different with them kinda like every other group and not knowing.
Even with the push and pull between them I realized that he was falling for her too (not as obvious). Like, he was withholding feeding last weapon spirit gold because he was having second thoughts about destroying the world.
But I get you, everything feels like it needs more “umph”. I feel like this drama has a more contemplative cerebral vibe. I had to think a bit more about the meaning of the ending cause it was trying to imply a happy ending. Throughout the whole story his biggest struggle is TRUST (especially her) and at the end, he was willing to TRUST even if he (and we) couldn’t see her.
All great scenes. I was really touched by the scene by the tree with her last words comforting him and him crying. What a complex emotion to portray. Knew she wasn’t gonna make it but trying not to focus on that. Loving her so much.

Your review pretty much summarized the entire drama, spoilers and all. That’s pretty amazing how you were able to compress it.
I am surprised they chose not to add her return even though they filmed it. Maybe even as a special?
