considering FLs personality - the sister acting that way is somewhat understandable
yeah i thought she didnt get scolded enough for being a rude-ass B at the banquet! like how is that acceptable behaviour?
i know it was overshadowed by the whole sister getting drugged business but still, in a society that values face and family reputation not to mention how restrictive it is towards womens behaviour that was outrageous
As far as I'm concern, I'm loving this drama. What's up with the rating? If you don't like a drama, don't down rate…
to be fair though, if everyone did that then every drama on this site would be 10s and all the comments will only be from people who loved each drama. i think that would make this site less useful for drama fans as a whole
i know its frustrating when others aren't enjoying a drama you're loving, especially while its airing, but everyone has their own tastes and opinions, you too ofc, so don't let it ruin your experience of enjoying the show
(i havent started this drama but its on my list so i came by the comments section to see what the chat is. i hope this doesn't come across as coming for you, just sharing my thoughts)
i think he yan enjoyed being one of the girlies for a little minute, particularly because the jiyang women have now realised they can be more than wives and mothers confined to their quarters with no agency so they dont represent a cage to her anymore.
cooking, sewing, embroidering can be fun when its on your own terms. its like when she said to the girls that they can read for their own pleasure, not just books on being a 'proper woman'
There are certain things in these cdramas that don't make any sense. She's been stuck on him since the beginning…
She wants to become a general and his army is the most likely for someone with no strong family backing to rise through the ranks. plus she knows he's righteous and not corrupt
I don’t think they are trying to portray her has a genius warrior. She was a general which means that she is…
she also hasn't actually properly fought in a war for a long time, pretty sure the battle of mingshui was the last time.
since then she was poisoned, went blind, was stabbed through the chest, fell off a cliff, went blind again and got slashed up by the wutou chief 😅 so i think its fair to say she's not at 100%
after battling a bunch of hefty wutou elites and fighting their chief to the death on horseback i thought it was totally believable that her body would give out once she hit the water and sunk under the weight of her armour. she hasn't got the stamina she used to have
Still curious what is Chu Zhao's ultimate goal? What is he trying to find out?
i think before he was just trying to establish himself in the political world so he can be independent from his family
but in Jiyang he realised the wutou people are linked to his master so now he wants to find out the extent, purpose and objectives of their relationship/cooperation - he started to suspect his master of foul play at the battle where General Xioa died and Que City
Me2.And I don't understand why all these persons are so annoyed with Chu Zhao? Instead of usual 2nd lead/antagonist…
i wonder if maybe people who've read the novel are carrying their feelings over. in the drama he's been very much the gentleman, never making he yan feel uncomfortable, just quietly appreciating her and growing fonder of her with every interaction
sure he works for the bad guy and has done bad stuff but he seems to be questioning his loyalty rn and is clearly a powerless pawn himself. being betrothed to his masters daughter who is a massive a-hole, i actually feel quite sorry for him!
When He Yan kills Ding Yi, Xiao Jue overhears her say "you once killed a blind woman, who do you think I am?" and Ding Yi responds "He Yan"
i wonder if he looked into it and realised she was the blind woman he met at the temple and thats why he choses to tell her about giving the osmanthus candy to the blind woman when they are at Baiyue mountain after chu zhao stands her up...
The male lead exudes SOMETHING immensely attractive. I especially love how he keeps reminding her she's a woman,…
its really bittersweet because she really does forget she's a woman after being brought up as a boy her whole life. apart from when she was at the temple when she was blind she has probably never worn womens clothes as an adult before T~T
i read (most of) the novel a while back, although i can't really remember most of it, but i appreciate that if you are coming to drama fresh then you don't have the same level of empathy with the FL who clawed her way to military greatness in spite of horrible treatment by her family with the only comfort coming from a school mate (she doesn't realise is the ML til later)
going back to being a new recruit is frustrating and she wants to quickly get back to a position of power so she can influence her life, have recognition for her actual identity as a female general and seek justice for General Xiao
i think the early eps are so fast paced it probably doesn't give new-to-the-story viewers time to really understand her motivations.
i think the earlier dynamic between He Yan and Xiao Jue will make the later, more equal relationship hit that much harder. he will truly understand how talented she is and respect her for it. i hope we'll see him realise how much she lowered herself to play the role of a new recruit in order to get to where she wants to be and he will truly accept her as his equal and not a flower that needs protecting
if you stick with the drama im confident you'll get the battle mode snog haha!
agree with those who comment that this is probably more of a drama for females. did a women write it?Ryan Cheng…
after My Journey to You he was so mesmerising i decided to go and check out his previous dramas and omg he plays some really dorky, goofy characters it was actually hard to believe it was the same actor!
I wanna ask something, is the double worth it!?? It's been on my list for soo long but haven't been able to pick…
i hope you enjoy it!
If i can recommend another drama, you might like Love like the Galaxy - its the ML who has the revenge plot in this one, the FL is just, like, trying to survive and live a peaceful life
FL gets bullied in the earlier eps and there's some angst but the blossoming era of the CPs love story makes me kick my feet and giggle like a fool haha so its all worth it. there are also some really beautifully shot scenes which made it really enchanting for me
ends a bit rushed bc the episode count was cut in the run up to airing but overall still satisfying for me

i was trying to be measured in my recommendation but its def my fav costume drama, i rewatch parts of it pretty much annually at this point!
i was absolutely feral while it was airing, no decorum whatsoever. i may never get over ling buyi and cheng shaosheng, sigh
