I get your point but if they were some random normal people then I def agree with you but they have divine power and divine weapon, that means the have abilities to save the world and not using it is also a waste of their lives, I think his father would let him out once he unleash the divine sword, he'be confident enough to let him free

I kind of understand the father's position. They created the alliance, fight for it and died for it, If in the end it doesn't work, it's kind of a wasted life
