True. Apparently in mydramalist you simpy are not allowed to have opinions 🤦🏻‍♀️It’s a drama and people CAN criticize it’s pacing/story/characters/acting and everything else. I really don’t understand how many comments confuse criticism with hate. Hate is personal attacks and intends to destroy. Even if someone is not happy with an actor’s acting it’s FINE, because that’s actually their job and they are able to improve themselves by practice. It’s the same for every job on the planet. Of course the wording matters in criticism and one should refrain from degrading a person. Anyhow I wish people in the comments stop accusing others of being a hater just because they have a different opinion.

Not that it really matters if they’re dating or not but during their few scenes together I felt they had more chemistry as a couple compared to their respective pairings :))

Yeah it will better if they do that in the upcoming episodes. This drama has potential and there’s enough going on to keep me interested for more.

True, I sometimes like to imagine they have huge copy machines that takes these scrips, blends them, changes the names/professions and voila! You have another cliché-filled series that people still like to watch. Even I sometimes play one of these, shut my brain off and just let those grey brain cells burn away. Depends on the day lol. It’s hard to find good dramas with decent characters. Normally I would spend a lot of time scrolling through the comment sections till I can finally choose a drama, even then I would still be disappointed sometimes. I agree Begin again was a delight to watch.

I already explained the meaning of passive so many times in this comment section, and I don’t think that her passiveness will heal his heart, her kindness will. These two are different concepts. My main problem with her character is her inconsistent writing and unclear motivations which creates a hole in viewers’ understanding of the character and affects their sympathy. It’s not smart writing if the easily scared /naive/foolish character suddenly starts acting brave/ saves people/ thinks of solutions to her problems in the most magical way. Her convictions seem more like deus ex machina (ie suggesting to save fairies, thinking of kiss as a way to swap souls). Why? Because her past actions were those of an unintelligent helpless person. Her plot-moving behaviors are unprecedented. And this slaps the viewer in the face. Anyways I understand your point of view and I will keep watching and hope for some improvements in the the future. For now it’s not convincing.

Yes exactly. I had to elaborate on what I meant by passive in my previous comments.
I like many elements of asian dramas but their portrayal of female characters doesn’t sit well with me most of the times because It’s shallow and retrospective. Sometimes when I have the energy or I care about a drama I leave a comment about this matter but it gets lost when people come to defend that specific character.

I don’t know about the actress, but here I think the writers didn’t give her a chance to shine at all. Unfortunately despite many good elements in Chinese dramas the writers tend to write female characters in the most nonsensical, moronic, damsel- -in-distress way possible.

Let’s hope she gets better because it does have potential to be a pretty enjoyable drama.

Yeah she seems pretty one track minded and doesn’t pay attention to anything that’s happening around her (except for that SML god). It’s not that I do or don’t like her, i can tolerate screaming and pouty lips. It’s that even her seemingly smart moves seem sudden and inconsistent with her previous idiotic behaviors.

It’s good If her actions and motivations make sense to you, to me most of them don’t. Because of the reasons I mentioned before. Different perspectives :)

I find many (but not all) of her actions stupid and not fitting the context. Her character writing so far seems lazy to me and definitely I hope to see some improvement in the future. Btw I decide on what I will or will not expect thank you lol

I explained how I find her passive in reply to the previous cm. She doesn’t impact the story as a main character should. Everything seems to be by chance, and her motivations for her actions are weak, with little backstory, so is her internal dialogue. Being passive doesn’t necessary mean doing nothing, it means doing things with no explanation or enough motivation. Her character seems to have no root in the story and the presence is not felt as it should. Anyways It’s my opinion, to each their own.

The definition of being badass for me is someone who can communicate well and takes responsibility for their actions. By this definition she is not badass. I don’t need her to physically fight well to consider her a strong character. She keeps changing her attitude towards the ml, doesn’t own up to her actions towards him after they get into his kingdom and acts ridiculously stupid. She never asks the “right” questions and gets in trouble for that. In this way she is passive in her conversations and dialogue. there’s basically a lack of communication between the main characters.

The story is fast paced and the scenary is a breath of fresh air. The costumes are eye catching as well. I just wish they had written the female lead better, she is so passive. That’s the problem with most chinese dramas, especially historical/xianxia/wuxia . They just can’t write a balanced female lead who’s badass AND actually has human feelings

Am I the only one who gets really uncomfortable seeing they don’t use any kind of headwear in the kitchen? That must be a health code violation right? Lol
